The model dictates the inside range. I have noticed that my phone works best in room with inside antenna. Also, the install directions note that the outside antenna should be 50 horizontal feet or 20 vertical feet from inside antenna. That may not be possible if you have the outside antenna on roof and inside antenna in the attic.
