• You can use them individually and as a single switch you do not have to use it as a 3 way.

• Mine are together in the same room however one is hooked as with a 3-way and the other controls a light on it’s own. I do not know for a fact but my guess is that you can put one in a separate room. I hope this helps

• Hi Dave. You can use both in one circuit or use one in one room, and one in the other. However, we recommend you to check out how you can install a 3-Way Light switch in your preferred configuration on our website. It is also advised to have a Licensed Electrician assist you with the wiring.
