Yes you can just place the TV on top of stand, very stable. I chose to do this with our 55” TCL 4K and it works fine. Set up for swivel bracket was time consuming and I felt TV on stand vs bracket would be more stable.

The stand has instructions for building without the vertical bar and frame. The manufacturer only recommends up to a 55 in tv for this stand though, as it will overhang the edges and risk being knocked off. If you do use this stand as a regular flat mount, it is highly recommended to using a wall mount safety kit to ensure it doesn't fall and cause any damage to itself, peta, or children. I have a 58" Samsung Q60 on this stand currently, 2 years total, and have not had any balance or weight issues
