• YES THERE IS AN ATTACHMENT THAT COMES WITH IT JUST IN CASE YOU DONT WANT TO PUT IT ON THE STAND OR SET IT UP TO BE THERE.

• Yes. I am using it for a 60" Sony on the metallic stand and it is rock solid. Putting it on the top shelf will be sturdier still.

• Depends on base feet on your TV and how far apart they are. Measure to the outermost edges of the base and compare to the width of the unit. Of course keep in mind that if you don't mount it you should use the tip strap (included with the assembly kit) so the TV won't accidentally tip over. Especailly important if there are kids in the house.
