the TV mounting system detaches at the center on the back.  this can be a challenge.  you can still keep your TV wall mounted

Yes. When assembling there is an option to eliminate and not install the TV mounting bracket.

Yes. The instructions for the TV stand show you how to remove the TV mount spine if you plan on using the stand by itself.
