- Answer I suppose it could but would be awkward looking since the cord comes out of the top of the unit. The door may drag on the counter as well.

- Answer Unless you have a space over the oven were the cabinets are, I wouldn’t put a microwave in. I have 17” between microwave and oven. Hope that helps.

- Answer Hi Malory, for this Whirlpool - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Fingerprint Resistant Microwave -Stainless Steel the mounting of both are similar, however, the current unit and the WMG31017HZ do have different specifications. We would recommend checking out the Installation Manual for more information on the difference between the two.
