Hi, thank you for your inquiry. The unit should be installed with a minimum of 30 inches from the bottom of the cabinet you are installing it under to the top of the cooktop.

Yeah, it was a pain as I even had to rebuild the cupboard doors too, but it was worth it. My wife hated the idea of the microwave blocking our vision to items cooking on the back stove burners but liked this microwave. Fair enough. (Like everyone else in the US, we’ve caved in to the “bigger is better” fantasy; big microwaves, cars, houses, burgers and belly’s... I figured I might as well just modify the cabinets, get some cave time in, and enjoy being a microwave installation hero. A 14” height or less for over-the-range is hard to find. Unless the cooks in your home are particularly tall, the guideline of 30” from stovetop to cabinet bottom is reasonable.
