Yes and no. I’ve experienced times when I wake up and can’t get BACK to sleep, and perhaps I’m very close but not 100% asleep and the mat will track as ‘light’ sleep, even though I think I’ve been awake for the whole period. Generally I would say the device is more accurate than not when it comes to the ‘trying to get back to sleep, am I sleeping or still awake’ question. Maybe I’ve been right on the cusp or crossed the sleep line then crossed back over to awake, if that makes sense. It’s highly accurate though. I’ve never had it log ‘sleep’ when I just lay in bed prior to falling asleep the first time. It senses that you are awake based on respirations and HR, as well as body movement.
