Good Question which I'm sure many have thought the same thing. If you have the newer Yamaha they changed their BT from the new current version 5.0 down go version 4.2. You could do this two different ways purchase an open box that looks mint but marked it this way saving you on average $75 Get the extended warranty for $15 and you still ahead. Try syncing pairing them to your system READ THE OWNERS MANUAL. And worse case it just wont work call Yamaha tech support and maybe its just a simple fix or a simple firmware upgrade patch for these reasons. If all else fails bring it back for a full refund. Just pack it up as you received it with all the paperwork cords ect... Good luck. Let me know how you made out. Thanks. Respectfully, Dave401
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The YAS-109 does not support rear surround speakers. It is a standalone simulated 3.0 (left, right, and center speaker output) out of the box and can be upgraded to 3.1 by adding a subwoofer. (there is no facility for a wireless subwoofer either but adapters are available.) For any additional speakers including rear or upper surround you will need to choose another model.
