Must consider the crossover network as part of the speaker system, which typically has induction coils, capacitors, and resistors. Generally speaking, your amp should run OK if your speaker system is rated between 4 to 8 ohms (4 is usual for cars and 8 is usual for home). Car amp is low voltage and will run hot if you pile too much load on it.

Please try again later.Actually impedance for speakers varies slightly with the frequency being reproduced, so the amp needs to have enough of a power supply to drive a 6 ohm load, but at some frequencies the load will be 8 ohms. This gives variations in volume by frequency and is the reason few speakers produce a flat frequency response.
