If you aren't doing surround I'd go with a stereo amp. If your speakers can be biamped I'd go with 2 yamaha A-S301 amps, use one for high and one for low. If they can't, go with the A-S701 and biwire it. Either way it will sound much better than any AVR in the price range.

Dial in the reciver and your speakers properly. Choose the best crossover setting that suits your speakers the best and you'll love this av receiver.
