I have an iPad Air. As computer literate as I try to be. I have no idea if it's a 1. I think it is. My wife got one the next year. I think it's a 2.If you buy it at Best Buy, the associate should be able to help with that. If it doesn't work, Best Buy will allow you to return it. The return period depends upon your "level" of My Best Buy.

This works with the latest I-Pad Air iPad017. And - it works great! If you have Office 360, you can add it to your iPad, and use the Zag keyboard - I used it to type notes from a conference I just attended. Lots of compliments on case - it's heavy duty to protect the iPad. Highly recommend.
