    Synopsis

    Resident Evil: Afterlife
Experience a new dimension in action horror as director Paul W.S. Anderson uses the 3D technology pioneered by James Cameron and Vincent Pace to take movie lovers on a nightmare thrill-ride. It's been five years since the zombie virus swept across the globe, and Alice (Milla Jovovich) is still traveling tirelessly in search of survivors. When the Umbrella Corporation ratchets up the stakes, an old friend turns up to lend Alice a helping hand. Rumor has it that some survivors have found sanctuary in Los Angeles, but when Alice and friends show up they find the city overrun with zombies, and quickly realize they've stumbled into a diabolical trap. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I have been a big fan of the Resident Evil franchise from the beginning, most of it having to do with my love for the games. I was a little disappointed with how this one played out compared to the others. For the most part, this movie does not do much more than create a long drawn out battle between two main characters, and will leave you dumbfounded on some of the events going on if you are not familiar with the more recent video games. Blu-Ray VS Blu-Ray 3D: While this edition includes both the 3D and 2D version, it's a little much asking for an extra $15 just to have the movie in 3D. Seeing as Blu Ray has come down so much, and when you buy a movie your paying more for the media content than the physical content, maybe an extra $5, but $15 is plain ridiculous. Give 3D a few more years and you will be able to pick up the bundles that include 3D and Regular for no extra price, they just want to put a premium on it because they can. (*SPOILER SECTION*) The whole Alice losing her powers was unnecessary, especially since she seems just as powerful Wesker's part is horribly acted, he is way more cooler and badass in the video games. Whats with killing off the whole army of Alice's towards the start of the movie, you were left with a huge finale from Extinction just to have them offed like flies. It is poor planning to conclude the previous movie the way they did just to discard it in the beginning of the sequel. (*END OF SPOILERS*) Don't get me wrong, this movie was very entertaining and I will definitely be buying it, I just feel like it could have been so much more. 3D is amazing to, I just feel that eventually the standard version will be dropped, and this version will drop to a more affordable price.

If you've never watched any of the Resident Evil films, start with the first one. If you haven't since since Extinction, here's a brief synopsis, mild spoilers ahead: Alice vowed vengeance upon Umbrella and she delivered, but loses her superhuman abilities. Alone, she makes her way to Alaska and reunites with Claire Redfield (whose lost her memory when she and other survivors were attacked), and makes her way to Los Angeles and meets up with new allies at a prison surrounded by hordes of undead. A call from nearby ship gives the survivors hope that help is onboard the vessel, but something is wrong. This entry is notable for original Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson returning to the director's chair after being absent for the previous entries (he was the screenwriter however), and for having more top notch action and special effects. Sony has made weird decisions not only by releasing just Resident Evil: Afterlife in 4K and no other RE films, but also the first Underworld and nothing else. I get that they're doing it to coincide with the theatrical release of the new Underworld and new Resident Evil films, but only one per franchise? Regardless, it is a worthy purchase if you're looking to upgrade.

I love Milla Jovovich, always have, and it has been fun watching her acting career over the years. That said, the Resident Evil movies have been on a downward spiral since the first. The first was great, a lot like the game with a ton of references. I mean, sure it's a little campy, but it should be, the problem is the series just keep ratcheting that factor up with each subsequent release. I will say the fact they used actors for the zombies instead of goofy looking CGI like the disaster that was "I Am Legend" made for a much more engrossing film. Don't get me wrong, the story and acting in "I Am Legend" was fantastic, the CGI bad guys however... oh man. The problem is as the "Resident Evil" series has gone on, the story has become more and more over the top. I mean, let's face it, this is a shoot em up zombie flick and those generally don't rank too high on the art scale, even with a good amount of budget and a great director. I love the genre, I even enjoy watching a bad zombie flick from time to time, and this is one of them. Overall, a zombie flick loaded with cheap thrills and big budget movie look. Not great, but not terrible, it's worth a $10 purchase, but I do lament paying full price.

Reading others' reviews, you can get a good sense of the video quality, audio quality, plot, etc. As far as I'm concerned, the movie in 2D was just 'ok'. I liked the first movie the most, loved the games, etc., but the only reason I bought this movie was for the 3D content. Speaking strictly from a 3D perspective, this movie was great. The two main reasons to buy a 3D movie are usually either because the movie has #1# great depth or #2# the pop-out effect. Suprisingly, this movie has both. In regards to depth, the movie uses the 3D depth effect quite well, throughout the whole movie. The depth effect is done very well, in my opinion. The movie is also full of 3D pop-outs as well. Many movies will toss in a couple of these here and there; however, this movie has one about every 5 minutes. Anything that could possibly fly at the screen does just that: bullets, guns, knives, blood, pieces of zombie, etc.... Overall, this is one of the 3D movies that I will watch multiple times, but only because of the 3D effects.

I loved this movie Afterlife, so much I played the previous sequel Extinction. My collection of 4, with Resident Evil: Afterlife I purchased in 3D Blu-ray. I watched in 3D and 2D versions enjoying both. When viewing 3D, I used a 55in Full 1080P, 3D HDTV/3D Blu-Ray Player with superb results in depth and with popping out imageries. The speed, power, weapons and moves (Alice) Milla Jovovich have are incredible and mind-blowing to watch. Either she is taken on Umbrella corporation’s army forces and technology or Milla Jovovich -Alice is really killing The Undead zombies shooting away, kicking, punching, jumping, running, swinging, flying through space, use of weaponry or with her powerful eyes she makes a fantastic performance. The axed giant monster swings his axe so close, not easy to kill and knocks Milla around a bit; she gets some help from Ali Larter (Clair), she tough in this movie, too. It was surprise where they left off and met again, in the search for Arcadia. What comes out of the mutant's mouth is fierce and the dogs that split themselves apart. The team of survivors work hard together and uncover a lot issues escaping from the top of the building with Blood flesh eaten zombies pushing their way in and through the prison complex. There are surprises at the end, may be another sequel or use your imagination.

There isn't much more to say about this chapter than what has already been said in the product description and reviews. I'm giving it 3 stars because it delivered exactly what we expect from a RE movie. Action, action, action but no real substance. It really seemed like this movie was one of those "We'll force you to make this movie or we won't let you make the other movie you want." feeling. It felt like filler. I don't normally write short, lack of information, reviews but there just isn't any more to say than what has already been said. Needed to know before watching...Remember how in the last movie, Alice was now really powerfull and it looked like she would have an army of Alice's? The film makers decided, lets have everyone get drugged (yet again) and have their memories erased and this will explain why we are making yet another film. What??!! Wesker hits Alice with a serum to make her human again? But..He can still track her, she still survives a plane crash (just walks away)? When fighting, she still seems to have these abilities but they seemed dulled down. It was just something that bugged me about the plot from the start. Buy it if you are a fan of Milla and the series but if you arent' a big fan, let it go. Rent it instead of buy it.

I saw this in theaters and couldn't wait to own it. The 3D is some of the best out of all available 3D films. I own a Samsung pn50c8000 so I can't say about a 3D comparison to say that of the exclusive Avatar(Cough Panasonic im looking at you). But I currently have seen all available 3D movies that aren't exclusive to Pani or Sony and I must say that this was the most enjoyable experience by far no crosstalk for me the 3D was seamless. The story is quite good in comparison to the previous movies however with a few plot holes it falls just short of amazing but still a definite recommended movie especially for 3D tv owners. The Cinematography is beautiful and 3D was definitely in mind when this filmed as opposed to an afterthought to sell tickets. There are few extras to speak of however I rarely look too much into these things im more interested in the movie but gave it an average as there are plenty of deleted scenes, outtakes, and some behind the scenes footage... nothing special but I supposed that it is enough and its interesting enough to watch. All in all a highly recommended buy especially again for 3D tv owners.

I went to the movies to see this in 3D i loved how it opened up a few minuets in with Alice coming in with her hair long and she had dual kitana 's on her back and her ninja stars to take on the umbrella swat team it was amazing her stars coming out at the screen at you the music gets you and pulls you in right with the action a blend of Metal and Techno and rock thrown to get you going as she tears in to them . He used the new James Cameron camera the fusion to film this . The only thing when Extinction ended Japan already had the virus now in the begining of this it 's normal does 'nt make sense seems like he back tracked to give you and opening you will see what i mean once you watch it i don 't want to spoil anything for you and Jill Valentine makes a return in this she is not in the movie it made me upset but watch the credits that 's your clue . Can 't wait to see it on Blu - Ray .
