Almost Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing and assembly was super-fast and simple. The main unit is 4 pieces that snap together easily, and I had the vacuum unboxed and powered on less than 5 minutes. All the controls are conveniently placed on the handle. You have the power on/off as well as different floor settings for carpet, hard floors and high pile or area rugs. I love how it has an effortless interchangeable design. You can keep it assembled for floor vacuuming, but with the push of one button, the canister will release and you can use it as a cannister type vacuum for stairs, furniture or hard to reach areas. You can also leave the cannister attached and just remove the main handle/hose to reach high places. My only complaint on the design is the power cord placement. It’s located on the top left side of the cannister, and just feels awkward as you vacuum, you have to always deal with cord slack in weird spots. For me though, I find that if I just loop the cord through the handle, that issue goes away for me. When vacuuming, it’s almost self-propelled going forward. It takes much less effort to push the vacuum which is nice, and with the super pivoting brushes, it has effortless turning motions in all direction, almost like a Dyson ball type. The LED lights on the front are incredibly bright, even in bright sunshine you can see debris and hair on the floor that you might otherwise not see. And because of the interchangeable design, the roller brush head of the vacuum has plenty of clearance around it, making it super easy to fully get under couches, chairs or other hard to reach areas. I do wish the brush head was slightly larger though. Suction power is awesome. We have a large house, with a Labrador who sheds all the time, so we are hard on vacuums. Compared to our other vacuums (Shark and Dyson) this one lives up to the marketing by saying it has the most suction power out there. It does. It picks up everything. I even ran it over a previously swept carpet from another vacuum and it still picked up a cannister full of dust and hair. It’s amazing. I do wish the dust cup was larger though. With this much suction, especially if you’re using this for debris and pet hair, the dust cup fills up fast, so if you’re vacuuming large rooms, prepare to empty the cup at least 2 or three times. The one feature they tout heavily on this unit is that hair will not wrap around the brushes. I found that not to be true. I vacuumed my daughters room, and even after letting the rollers spin for a while to unwrap or feed the hair off the roller, the second power fin roller was completely wrapped with her hair that we cannot get off without cutting. So that feature to me does not deliver here. Overall, I love it. It delivers on the powerful suction, which for us is the biggest feature needed in our day to day. I love the design and how easy you can go from upright to cannister vacuum. I do wish the dust cup was bigger and in our experience, hair definitely still wraps around the rollers.

Failed after 5 minutes of use
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this vacuum was working it was working very well; the amount of dirt and dust that it collected was quite impressive. At about 5 minutes the vacuum shut off and has never worked since, thankfully i’m still able to return it.

||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this less than 2 years ago and it has literally quit working! I have had several Dyson and then switched to a shark and loved it so I assumed I’d love this one too. WRONG! I am so disappointed in this vacuum.

Powerful Vac with Self-Cleaning Rollers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My upright recently broke so I was happy to give the newest Shark a try. First impressions are it is a very well made and powerful vacuum. It’s very easy to setup, pretty much take it out of the box and snap it together, instructions included but not needed. In my first run through the house I was amazed at how quickly the dust cup filled up meaning there was some gunk in there that my older vacuum couldn’t get. This vacuum has some serious suction and the double brush rolls with new fin design obviously is doing a better job than my older Shark did. This model is excellent if you have pets as after a few uses with my old vacuum I’d have to clear out tons of rolled up pet and wife hair from the roller manually. A not-so-fun job, but when I went to do the same here (out of habit) I was actually shocked that I didn’t see a single hair on either of the rollers. I don’t know how it works but the “self-cleaning brush rolls” seem to function as advertised. The LiftAway feature is good when you are using the wand and need more mobility. It allows you to remove the motor and dust cup from the body and either leave the rollers behind for cleaning above the floors or get into tighter places on the ground. For example, I use it to get spiderwebs out of the corners of rooms or dust that has collected on the air inlets on the ceiling. My whole family suffers from allergies as do a lot of folks who live in Central Texas so to combat that I use high quality air filters and vacuum frequently, at least once a week. The sealed system and HEPA air filter keeps the dust and other fine particulates like pollen that makes its way indoors in the spring from being picked up off the floor and thrown into the air for us to breathe in. The only downsides are it is a bit heavy so taking it up and down the stairs can be cumbersome and it doesn’t turn quite as easily as other vacuums, but this is the compromise for a sturdy, well-made, premium upright. Pros: Powerful suction Dual self-cleaning brushrolls Long power cord Liftaway Features Great for Pet Hair Allergen HEPA filters LED Lighted Cons: Heavy Overall, highly recommend this Shark to anyone who is In need of a new powerful upright cleaner.

Very Disappointing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It sucks but that's the end of the pros of this vacuum IMHO, unfortunately. The collection bin is deceptively small and you have to open it from the bottom where all the debris comes out. The brushes still had long hairs wrapped around them. The brushes will not turn off for hardwood floors and the brush rollers only went to about 2" from the edge of the head so you can't get along baseboards. Back to Dyson for us!

Posted .Thank you for providing your review on the Shark Vertex Upright Vacuum. We are sorry to hear of that you find the dust cup is small and that you are not liking having to empty it by the bottom. We would like to let you know that the top of the dust cup opens as well. There are buttons on either side of the handle towards the front that you would need to press to open the top of the dust cup. Also, we are sorry to learn that hair is still getting wrapped around the brushroll. This should not happen with the self-cleaning brushroll as it should be actively removing the hair from the brushroll while in use. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our products.

This vacuum sucks! ....really, really well!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you've owned Shark vacuums before, you'll be very familiar with the style and features of this one. If you haven't, get ready to be amazed! Right out of the box it is very easy to get it put together and be ready to use it. It only took me a few minutes to get the pieces together and I was ready to go! I found the included instructions were very easy to read and understand. It comes with all the usual attachments line the crevice tool and small brush attachments. One thing I like to do when testing a new vacuum is to first vacuum my entire house with my old vacuum, and then do it with the new one and see if it picks anything up. I fired up this Shark and away I went. After vacuuming my entire 2400 square foot home I was amazed that I had almost a full cannister of dirt that this picked up. That right there tells you just how good this vacuum is! My old vacuum was no slough either...it was from probably the biggest known name in vacuum makers right now. Some of the other things I love about this vacuum are the light! You'd be surprised how many vacuum manufacturers don't put lights on the front of their vacuums these days. While I don't usually vacuum in the dark, it is nice to have a light to see under couches and coffee tables and things like that. I also love that you can take the cannister off the base of the vacuum and use the wand to get to stairs and ceiling corners and things like that. It nice to not have to lug a huge vacuum around for things like that, because this vacuum is on the heavier side. Overall, I would highly recommend this vacuum. Especially if you have pets! We have a little Boston terrier and he sheds a lot on the couches and floors. This makes it very easy to clean up after him.
