Surface works as intended. BestBuy however provided the wrong charger in an open-box item so I do not receive a proper charge and by the time I realized it I was out of the return period.

I bought this as a returned item and it was an excellent condition. For some reason none of the apps for loading correctly and I could barely run Lightroom on here. It had to return it but they gave me a refund.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 The Good: • Great Portability vs Performance ratio • Ultra-Clear Display with 120Hz refresh rate (Optional) • Sturdy Keyboard and great feeling pen that integrate with the Surface • Quick, Snappy hardware and software make for an overall excellent experience The Bad: • Keyboard and Pen cost extra and are not included. • No headphone, HDMI or SD card port on the device. • Cost of specs vs form factor. So far in the time I have used my surface pro 9, I can honestly say I have been reaching for it more and more, not only to test it out and see how well it can handle anything I throw at it, but because its truly a fun experience. The full power of a computer in such a small, sleek and portable form factor just inspires you to use it. I have plenty of other devices that are close to the size of the surface, but none compared to the capabilities and just overall experience that this delivers. Using the surface to sign into my work environment to work on some of my projects is super cool because its something I normally would have to use a regular computer. I also love having the full power of office 365 at my fingertips because normally its some scaled down version on ay or my other portable devices that I normally carry with me. Since I have gotten the surface, it’s been my daily carry and with it, there’s nothing that I feel I cannot do while being on the road and at the same time I do not even notice I’m carrying it because of the small footprint it has when folded up. Its truly like having a small notepad with you. In the last week I have literally thrown everything I can think of at this device and it has handled it very well. Only in 3 areas have I noticed problems that could hinder the experience of using this device. 1. The speakers have exhibited a static crunchy sound when listening to music and the CPU is under load. I have tried to replicate it and it does seem to happen when the Surface is working hard on multiple tasks at the same time. 2. The windows hello login with face. I have experienced multiple times where I’m right in front of the camera perfectly centered and plenty of light and the computer says I couldn’t be recognized, and I have to use a PIN. This has been able to be resolved by a simple restart of the computer, but none the less it is something I have delt with more than a few times. 3. The Kickstand has some free play in it. This may be by design or it may not be, but for the price point I would think the amount it has, is too much and gives a feeling of, this might be a problem in the future. Without the kickstand I have to say the device is simply not the same device. You would lose the ability to use this as a computer with the screen propped up in front of you while you use the keyboard. The Pen on this device I have to say I was skeptical about because my experience in the past just hasn’t been that great, However I can say it’s a pretty good experience. Microsoft did a good job with the pen. Its comfortable in the hand to hold and has haptic feedback that makes it feel as if you are actually writing on paper with that little bit of resistance you normally experience from tip to paper. It has customizable buttons that you can set to open different applications and has great battery life as well, though the design of the keyboard type cover is another amazing this because the pen neatly and magically tucks inside and disappears when not in use. You will always have it with you when you need it. The Keyboard type cover as mentioned above is one of my favorite features of this computer and honestly if this wasn’t done correctly the entire experience would be different with this computer so I feel if they didn’t get this right, the device would of suffered greatly. You see there are so many devices on the market that offer this computer and tablet convertibility while also trying to do it in a small form factor. But because of the way the surface type cover interacts with the device itself and the end user, I believe its what makes this such a nice device to use. I truly love it and while I am typing on it now, I cant wait to use it for my next task. Gaming A lot of users will wonder how gaming on the surface pro 9, can it handle it and what’s it like? I have used it mainly with the included XBOX app and I have streamed games from the cloud using Microsoft’s cloud gaming feature and everything on that has worked perfectly. The games load fast and are fast and fluid. I have also downloaded some games right to the Surface HDD and played them and again games like Need For Speed and Call Of Duty WW2 have played fine with only small hiccups in framerates, the overall experience has been good, but because the surface is using integrated graphics your only going to be able to push it so hard when it comes to gaming. Its very fun still. The Surface Pro 9 has so many features that make it a cool device. The magnetic charging adapter is nice and has a LED light on it to tell you when its charging and connected to the device. The Refresh rate of the screen can be set to 60 or 120Hz, depending on how much battery life you need, I would say leave it on 60Hz if you need to maximize time away from the charger and 120Hz if power is not an issue. The 120Hz setting I have to say changes the entire experience. The screen is like liquid and is pleasing to the eyes. The Surface Pro 9 has the latest in wireless technology featuring Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax and Bluetooth 5.1 The wireless experience has also been great. The device is super snappy opening up webpages and browsing. Its never skipped a beat so far. I’ve also connected via Bluetooth my Xbox game controller in order to play the games I have mentioned and pairing that device was fast and painless. No complaints in the connectivity department until we get to the ports on this device. Where I feel they should of left some things is when it comes to the Headphone jack and the SD Card reader. Both ports take up very minimal space and being that they did not change the form factor from the 8 to the 9, I do not see why those ports were removed as I know a lot of people were not happy with that decision. I feel like people still use headphones with wires, especially when it comes to audio accuracy projects, wireless just isn’t something you use when your editing audio or video files with audio for a project. I also feel a lot of photographers could use the SD Card slot while they are on the go. Yes you can fix this by using a dongle but its one more thing the end user needs to remember to bring with them. So to wrap things up, I just want to say I think this device is awesome, and I believe it will be my go to daily carry for the future. The small things I mentioned above could all be better, but everything in life is going to have an upside and a downside. In the end I believe this device is fun, useful and unique. If your in the market for one of these devices, I say give it a try, you might just love it!

Never compketed the installation. Contacted them and never called back or followed thru. Manager of store was unresponsive. Spoke to Geek Squad Supv. too and she never followed up as promised. We will dispute their charges, not substantiated.

Didn't like the device. It is constantly freezing the screen and it takes more than expected time to load information. I bought it after an internet review pointed it as better then the ipad, and I regret the decision.

I went through 2 surface pros in 2mo and cont. to have the same issue with wireless adapters and getting disconnected from the internet while trying to work. Had to call Microsoft 20 times to help fix until the adapters completely disappeared from the computer. Microsoft has terrible service, wanted to replace with refurbished on my new unit. Returned and I bought a Mac instead.

I purchased this Surface Pro 9 i5 8gb to replace a 2nd gen iPad Pro 12.9. I attempted to replace that tablet with a lenovo duet, and returned it after only a few days. The chromebook just didn't cut it. I went back and forth on whether to go with the Surface Pro or the Laptop Studio. The majority of my time with my iPad was spent using it as a tablet, and working with the apple pencil. I decided the Surface Pro would be used in much the same way, and the extra weight of the Laptop Studio wasn't worth it. It was also nice to have a detachable screen/tablet. I think I made the wrong choice. The type cover does fit my needs. I love that it is backlit, it provides some protection for the surface screen, and its very light weight. However, I dont love typing on it. It can feel flimsy on a desk and downright unstable on your lap. My fingers dont want to find the backspace key for some reason, maybe its a little further away then on a conventional keyboard, I'm not sure. Type Cover - 7/10 The Slim Pen 2 is more successful. It's pretty responsive for writing. I dont draw, but take notes using OneNote. With the refresh rate bumped up to 120hz, the pen is fairly smooth. The magnetic charging is really nice and the built in nook is perfect. It bugs out occasionally though, something I never experienced with an Apple Pencil. The "paper feel" haptic experience is a gimmick and you hardly notice it. Palm rejection works well. Using it to navigate the surface is fine, but again not perfect. The eraser feature is great, the clickable actions are great. The feel in hand takes some getting used to. Slim Pen 2 - 8.5/10 The Surface feels quick enough for my use. The display is excellent, watching videos/movies is fine. That's not my primary use case, but occasional youtube time is great. Windows 11 looks beautiful and is great to use in laptop mode. In tablet mode, it can be frustrating. I miss the ease of switching between screens/apps on iPad OS. I love snapping windows into the boxes, but it bugs out every now and again too, especially with using the pen to do the snapping. Having access to office was the main reason for making the purchase. Word and OneNote on a tablet was key, using this as a portable work device, and run a few specific apps is what I was looking for. Battery life is pretty good, hate carrying the charger, but 65 watt USB-C charger is cheap and easier to carry around. The two thunderbolt ports is fine, i use bluetooth accessories anyway. Bluetooth flakes out a time or two as well, but nothing serious. All in all, I want to use this as a tablet, but I find I use it as a touch screen laptop more often. Surface Tablet - 7/10 Overall score for me 7.5/10. This is a good device, I will keep it for years and hopefully use it with little issue. iPads feel flawless, but having windows made the decision. Considering that I have not detached the tablet from keyboard once in my first month of use, I feel like I probably should've spent the extra $200 (Memorial Day sales) and purchased the Laptop Studio. I dont think the weight would've been prohibitive, and a standard laptop keyboard probably would've made a little more sense. But I chose the savings, and in the end I'll be alright I guess.
