Was not bad for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my HP Notebook at a sale price of what I believe to have been 439.99-459.99 US dollars and I am quite happy. Now this laptop is no power house but it is a great laptop for school. Its 1 terabyte hard-drive is over kill for storage, 8gbs of ram is pretty nice, its i5 7200u processor is quite strong, and the integrated intel 620 graphics will handle some games but do not expect something that will play fortnite or Pubg at even medium settings, but it does well in emulations. There are some issues however. Build quality is not the greatest; screen isn't that good, but not bad; no backlit keyboard; and battery life is pretty bad, my Samsung 9 literally has a larger battery. However, with those short comeings, the HP notebook is decent and will get the job done.

Better than I thought at First BUT a few things...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well at first this little gem seemed to be dragging along, took forever to load up and was freezing where I had to shut it down by holding in the ON button for about 20 seconds (hard shut-down). I was ready to return it. The next day I booted it up again, a little slow to boot up, but when I opened a few programs and surfed the net, it started working really well and frankly I was surprised since I had so much trouble the night before. Maybe it was doing a lot of updating & initializing in the background since it was just out of the box. But right now, so far so good. I wish HP would add something like Microsoft Works that you used to get when you bought a laptop or computer. Nope. And "Paint" is now "Paint 3D" - which I happen to like the simpler version. Nothing special with the included programs, that's for sure. All is buy buy buy now a days. But this is a big step up from my HP I purchased in 2011 so I'm giving it 4.5 stars right now, unless it starts lagging and freezing like it did the first night I had it working. So far, so good, and I bought it at Best Buy as an "open box" deal for $413.00 so that's a great bargain as long as it keeps up the good work. One last thing, there is no LIGHT on the NUM LOCK so you don't know if it's on or not, no backlights on the function keys either. I miss that on my old HP, especially the wifi light and the NUM LOCK light. This is troublesome when you are using numbers in passwords since you can't tell if the num lock is on, else you'll just get blanks in the box until you realize the num lock must be off. There is a Caps lock light, which seems to be the only light (not even an ON light). My old HP spoiled me. lol. So far so good here with all else tho. 4.5* rating.

Fast & Long Battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop! I tried two others and had to return them as they were cheaper, but drove me crazy using an i3 or no touchscreen. This one also has a long battery life which I discovered by accident as I started using it the next day without realizing I still hadn't plugged it in yet it was going strong. Love this deal! Don't even think about an i3. Too slow. This one is great with an i5, plenty of memory, good size and touchscreen.

Terrible quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to get a more expensive laptop, but didn’t think I could justify it for what I planned on using the laptop for, so I got this one. The first laptop I got would freeze and make an ear-piercing buzzing sound when I watched a video. I had that laptop for about 7 days before taking it back. I thought I must have a defective laptop because I really thought HP would be a reliable brand. No. The laptop froze often while playing videos and made a terrible ear-piercing buzzing sound. Best Buy barely took the computer back - after it was malfunctioning after just a week. I tried the same laptop again - thinking the first one had been defective. No. It was not defective. It’s just a problem with this model. Same problems with this brand new laptop I had with the first one. It freezes all the time during videos and makes the terrible buzzing noise when my internet is very strong. I hate this laptop, but I know Best Buy will never make it right because they gave me such a hard time the first time. Spend the extra money on a nicer laptop if you want your laptop to actually work because this one does not work. This was a really big purchase for me and I’m very dissapointed I chose both Best Buy and this laptop.

mid range but happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.my (other brand) laptop died, hdd failed. the thing had driver issues all the time so I decided to not repair it and instead jump ship. gotta say i'm happy! sure I went from a 2012 core i7 to a core i5 but i don't notice it. I really like having a touch screen as its easier than trying to use a mouse without a desk. ever put a mouse on the couch next to you? that's hard to use. This thing so far is good. plenty fast but plenty of bloat ware. One big down side, the keyboard is not lit. this makes it hard to use at night. I can type home row but having a lit keyboard is really helpful for the quick url typing or hitting a key or 2. also as is the trend nowadays, you have to use the function key to use the f# keys. I'd prefer the opposite as hitting alt+fn+f4 is just too much. no this ain't a 2 in 1 but it also doesn't look like it's going to break in half after 6 months like some of them do. probably not great for gaming but for everything else, this is the ticket!

Great laptop for gaming; and mulitasking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is good for gaming, which does have an Intel HD Graphics 620, that might seem bad but it can actually hold up light casual gaming and some heavy one well, take GTA V for example, all on normal settings, getting around 25-34 FPS. Not the best playable experience but its playable. Now for FSX, it is smooth, on ultra-high, your getting around 28-30 FPS, mostly 30 FPS locked depending on the area your in, if you tune it down to high, you'll get more FPS. The bootup time takes a while than a 7200 RPM Hard Drive, that why I give it a 4. The touchscreen doesn't feel smooth, which is also why I give it a 4. Other then that, this is a great laptop for anyone who want to buy this for school, some light gaming maybe CSGO and Rocket League, or both. I got this around $418 when it was on sale.

Good basic laptop, Rocket if you change hdd to ssd
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very fast computer with a very slow hdd. If you don't mind voiding the warranty the case can be opened with a philips and iFixit tools (see U-tube). I added an additional 8gb 2400mhz memory card bringing the total to 16GB, and a Samsung 1TB SSD. Now the laptop is a rocket even loads data faster than my work i7 laptop.

Poor Battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought that this laptop was going to be fast and with a very good behavior, given the technical specifications it has. But unfortunately the battery life and processor speed makes me disgusted with the purchase I made. I have a Toshiba since 2010 (with Carman / Kardon speakers) and it really has a better performance. I'll have to do a deeper investigation for my next purchase.

So far so good!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this computer for about 2 weeks now and love it! Easy setup. Easy to use and the touch screen is nice. I bought this one to replace my Lenovo that was over 6 years old. Nice upgrade. Love this laptop.
