Installing windows updates for 25 days. Unusable while downloading and installing. Buries hard drive usage at 100% the entire time. Now creators update keeps failing, with no error message. Takes over 24 hours to process, then just fails. This PC is the biggest piece of garbage I've ever seen. Never going to buy anything HP ever again. Would I recommend this PC to anyone - H*** NO!

First, this review is not to complain about features. I have allowed two months to pass, update the Windows OS, delete bloatware, and personalize the laptop. Next, to keep this "short", the focus will be based on performance of the product when compared to another CORE i5 processor laptop with 4GB less RAM. The startup time is horribly slow. I suspected there was a clocking issue, unfortunately there was not. Then the RAM was checked to see if there was a potential for error checking to be the root of slow processing, again not the issue. Perhaps the hard drive was causing the slow performance, not the issue as it is comparable to other products built to same specs on the market. What is the cause of the slow processing? There is no explainable reason. Literal buffering symbols appear on screen when loading and starting apps/programs. Swapping between apps/windows the laptop stammers and buffers. The touchscreen has a significant input delay. Overall this laptop is overpriced when compared to other brands with the same specs. The reason for such a "poor" rating is based on MY experience and expectations. When compared to a Lenovo ideapad 300 with a SLOWER i5 processor the HP fails on so many tasks, e.g. opening the email app to swapping windows. Lastly, my observations lead me to believe this is nothing more than HP cash-grabbing based on brand recognition. I suppose I fell victim to marketing of affordability for sake of performance. Lesson learned HP. I will never purchase another HP product as there are substantially more viable options given relative price point (sub $500).

Great laptop for Jr high students to start the year!

The laptop worked exclusively. I dont have any complaints.

Problems began the second the setup began. First off it was very sluggish even with the standard 8gb of ram and 7th gen i7, which even with only a hard drive, would be sufficient enough for a fast computer. It took chrome 30 seconds to fully load onto it, and downloading programs was slow too. While yes, it can run demanding tasks, that doesn't mean that anything would perform to your standards. Gaming on integrated graphics was never amazing to begin with, but even the lightest games have lag and stutter with them, and some games ran worse on here than on my old laptop. The battery life is also very poor on this laptop, only lasting about an hour and a half at most, which is abysmal for a laptop at this price. Booting it up takes forever too, and I have to wait at least 5 minutes for everything to start functioning properly. Ever since about 2 months ago, my computer also began to disconnect from the internet randomly, and I've tried everything from installing drivers, to restarting the computer and router, but still no luck. In conclusion, this laptop is garbage, and I recommend you buy a brand that actually makes decent laptops.

The laptop is ok. My specific laptop ran very slow. It took forever to load up and it felt that I had to constantly touch the screen to get any results. The graphics were good. The programs are good. If you are looking to do basic things then this is the laptop for you.

Let me start by saying I went to Best Buy with the intention of buying a dell. I should of just stuck with that. Some sales person comes in and says oh if you're going to get that you can get faster with this! Me not knowing much I thoughtvokay. So I get it. I wish I would of just stuck with my original plan. I've had this thing for maybe four weeks. All I needed it for was school. I can't get through one effing assignment without it freezing and I have to restart it. Keep in mind the only thing I downloaded was Microsoft word. Not a picture or a song. In the past ninety minutes I've had to restart it three effing times. But of course it's past my return date so now I'm out my money and stuck with this piece of garbage.

I have had two Asus computers in the past 10 years, and it was time for a new computer. A comparable model to what I had was not available anymore (DVD drive, full keypad on the side, approx. $500 range), and so I decided to try this HP model. I absolutely HATE it. The mouse keypad is too high up on the computer to be comfortable for my arms/hand, and there is a very rough, hard, cutting plastic raised rim around the edge of the computer that cuts into my palm. I can't easily find the mousepad, and it is too high up for my thumb to be in a comfortable spot: My wrist has to twist in an unnatural position to try to even make using the mouse usable at all. After only 20 minutes of trying to use this, my hand and wrist hurt so much that I can't stand to continue using it. I have tried for two hours last night, and most of today to try to get this to work, but I'm giving up: I'm going to give this to my son, to save the restocking fee, and I'm going to try to get something else.

The keypad on this computer had issues from day one and now no longer works. The speakers are TERRIBLE and started acting up within the first week. I have only had this computer one year, and I am already looking for a new one. I thought this would be better than my old Dell, but I was wrong. I will never buy HP products again. Terrible quality, terrible waste of money and time.

I got this computer on labor day, 2 days later stop working, keep restarting for no reason, I went back to best buy and I was told the Hard Drive was damage, they gave me another one, a few days later the replacement computer stop working also, I went back to best buy again and ask for my money back, this is the first time I got an HP computer and probably is going to be the last one.

I got rid of a 5 year old Lenovo to upgrade. DO NOT BUY this computer. It is slow to start, slow to open programs and, oh yea, it locks up all the time. I had a bad experience with HP before and thought I would try again. What a mistake. I waited too long otherwise I would return this piece of junk.

Bought this based on "in-store expert's" advice. Boot-up time is painfully long - sometimes up to 10 minutes! When updates are being installed, cannot use other programs - system locks up and all other programs are unusable. Seems to always be updating something or another. Am going to give it to a school as it is basically useless to me as is. Camera has very slow framerate and lousy picture feed, microphone is spotty, and the hdd makes noises when under any load. I do not suggest this to anyone.

My computer is 11 months old. It has ran a bit slow from the beginning. I worked with a sales person to get a computer for college. I'm spending all my time waiting and restarting. We took it into the Geek Squad and they could not find anything wrong. It's just not a great computer. Part of the problem is updates. It takes a long time and it does not reveal that they are in process. So your computer is just locked up during that time.

Please don't buy this unless you want to spend all your time waiting on it to load and shut down. This was the slowest system I have ever bought. Couldn't take it back fast enough. After less than 24 hours I was shopping for a new one. They said the I5 processor was faster than the I3 if it is I feel sorry for the people who have the I3. Please add a little bit more money and get a better system.

Junk. Buyer beware 32 days from purchase computer crashed had to pay for repairs out-of-pocket will never use another HP product

I generally don't give review but this is so bad that I am giving my review. Please don't buy this laptop. I bought this one two days back when I started the laptop it was making lot of noise and very annoying. I called Best Buy and they replaced it. I opened the new one and when I typed the key Shift + @ it was typing double quotes ("") and Shift + "" typing @. I already wasted two days for this.

I purchased this laptop in mid December for Christmas. We have used this laptop for literally less than 5 hours total and the hard drive is junk already. It was slow and lagged when we first started it. Should have returned it right then, but didn't. Now it's past the return date so we are stuck with it.

It worked for only 1 week until the hard disk stop working. 0% recommendable

Multiple problems with this laptop. Freezes a lot and very slow. Pulled my 15 year old computer out of storage because it's faster. Takes 10 minutes to start up. 0 added programs. I rarely use it as it's to slow to use.
