We usually don't but protection plans, but when spending a kid off to school in a new city hundreds of miles away, it is worth the piece of mind to have an on call repair service.

Nice product for 3 computers for the price. One repair without a service contract is almost equal to the cost of the service plan for 3.

Would not consider buying a laptop without this coverage. At least for battery replacement before the 1st year when they start to go.
