I had an experience were my last TV broke six month before my 5 yrs warranty espired. Best Buy gave me a store credit for the price of my tv and aI bought a new ine.

I always buy the geek squad. & the one time that I needed it they were right there! just the house call alone paid for the extra 5-year warranty.
