    Best Router Ever

Without a doubt the best router I've ever owned. Before my coverage barely covered my house and I get atleast 2 out of 3 bars anywhere around the house now. To be able to designate what gets priority over different devices is great. Setup was very smile and fast. I've always owned asus products and they never seem to let me down. The extra features like printer server and USB. 3.0 is great. Comes with a cloud services for flash drive and hard drives you can attach. It is expensive but worth the money for sure.

This router has a pretty good range, covers my whole house. Also I can connect multiple devices (8-9) at the same time without any bandwidth issue.

This router handles my large and complex home network with aplomb. I have 32 devices connecting to this router using wired and wireless and it handles it all gracefully. My home wired network consists of 7 gigabit switches throughout the house that connect a raft of home entertainment connections. I use all 4 gigabit ports on this router that then distributes to the seven gigabit switches. We have a cable connection to the internet with 137mbps download speed and 21mbps upload speed. We get the full throughput of that speed to all devices thanks to this fast and dependable router. I also have a 2TB USB 3.0 drive connected to the router and I am getting great transfer speeds to that device as well. With AiCloud rounding out the setup, it is truly great. I will always buy from ASUS when it comes to networking equipment.

This router replaced my LCisco-Linksys WRT610N. I have multiple uses for it such as a media and file server, time machine backup, parental monitoring, guest network, and SOHO network printer server. I have turned my old router into a hotspot and have plugged my PS4 and Xbox into it to get Wireless N speeds on the 5GHz band from across the house. This router will suit me for a very long time. Now to purchase some AC peripherals.......:-)

This thing looks like it came from outer space. The router is super fast and so far after 6 months and running on stock firmware, I still have not needed to reset it once. I previously had DSL and an older Linksys router running DDWRT and I still had to reset it once a month. I get really good distance and handles the traffic really well. I'm currently on Comcast Cable and running a ZoomDocSIS 5341J.

My apple airport just wasn't fast enough nor had the range for coverage. I tried a net gear r7000 - what a piece of junk. Reboots all day or freezes and requires a minimum of 3 reboots a day. Setup out of the box was 5 minutes and I connected on 2.4 at 390 Mbps Excellent product.

The best router on the market, priced accordingly

If you’re looking for an inexpensive router for your small business, this is the one to buy. The same goes for anyone looking for an advanced home router. It’s the only consumer-priced router I’ve seen that can be configured with dual WAN (wide-area network) ports, so that you can establish two independent broadband connections for either load balancing (distributing your broadband workload over two connections) or to provide failover protection (if one connection drops out, the other is available as a backup). This feature will be of interest primarily to small businesses. Most consumers don’t need—and don’t have the infrastructure for—load balancing and failover protection. You’ll also need to give up one of the four gigabit ports on the router’s switch to enable this feature, but that’s not much of a sacrifice. Alternatively, you can plug a 3G/4G mobile broadband dongle into one of the router’s two USB ports for the same purpose. The RT-AC68U has one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 port, and it can share both a printer and a USB storage device on your network at the same time. But when I tested each router’s NAS (network-attached storage) capabilities, the Asus placed a distant second to Netgear’s R7000 Nighthawk router (I suspect this is because the Nighthawk has a faster CPU). The RT-AC68U’s VPN (virtual private network) server allows you to access your private network via an encrypted connection across the Internet. And its Download Master software enables you to download files to attached USB storage devices via services such as FTP and BitTorrent while your PC is powered down. Most modern routers allow you establish a guest network that allows users to access the Internet without granting them access to other resources on your network. With the RT-AC68U, you can establish three wireless networks on the 2.4GHz frequency band, and three more on the 5GHz band. What’s more, you can establish separate access policies on each of these networks, so you can grant some users full access to your network, limit others to particular resources, and limit still others to just Internet access. AiCloud is one of the last of this router’s most alluring features. It consists of four elements: Cloud Disk, Smart Access, Smart Sync, and Router to Router Sync. Cloud Disk allows you to access the data stored on a USB hard drive attached to the router from anywhere you have Internet access. You can also stream media to Android and iOS devices. Smart Access lets you access your home network—and all the devices connected to your home network, even if those devices are asleep—from any PC, Android, or iOS device that has access to the Internet. Smart Sync keeps whichever folders you choose on our USB storage device synchronized with your Asus WebStorage account (you get 5GB of cloud storage free). You can also synchronize storage connected to other Asus routers that support AiCloud. As with other popular cloud-storage services, you can also access this storage from mobile devices. Router-to-Router sync enables you to sync folders on storage devices connected to two AiCloud-compatible routers. This last feature is very similar to what Connected Data’s Transporter offers, though it’s not quite as easy to set up. The RT-AC68U has all the other checklist features I’ve come to expect in a high-end router, including FTP and SAMBA file servers, and UPnP, DLNA, and iTunes media servers. The RT-AC68U features Broadcom’s TurboQAM technology, which enables the router to deliver of 600 mbps of bandwidth on the 2.4GHz frequency band, compared to the 450 mbps that the typical high-end router supports. The benefit of this feature is somewhat dubious, because the client adapter must also support TurboQAM—and most don’t. If you’re using the 2.4GHz band, it’s probably because you have a legacy client that doesn’t support anything else

I have FiOS and I got my ONT configured through Verizon to use the ethernet port so I could bypass the Verizon MoCa router. The internet LAN cable is directly connected to this router and my speeds are blazing fast and very responsive. No bottle necking going on here. I completely disabled the verizon router and set it up as a switch. I connected it to the back of this router with a cross over cable and this allows me to still be able to access ondemand and the guide. Works beautifully and I have no regrets!

    Strong Router

I purchased two of these routers to use in a Media Bridge configuration (primary router to secondary wireless router bridge). The connection was spotty at best. I was not able to get "consistent" high speed throughput with this configuration. I promptly return one of the routers. This router is fast and it does provide great coverage, even in a large home of over 2k sqft. I highly recommend this device if you require HD media streaming, online gaming, or if you have more than 6 devices in your home that connect simultaneously to your wireless network. After doing some testing and placing this router in various locations in my home I concluded that this router will work well on first or second level of home, equally as well for both networks (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz).

I am very happy with this router. It does a fantastic job with my network, and the file sharing from both an external hard drive connected to the router, and computers on the router is as expected if not better.

There is no better router to use. I have had d-links, linksys and apple routers, and they all end up giving me issues and have had to restart them once a month. This is the only one that I have set up and forgotten about it for months. I never need to restart it or even touch it. Also, its great for external drives and printers for wireless access and wireless printing. Also, it looks awesome!! and Super Fast

Bought this with a ASUS ROG G750JW laptop. Local network is very fast, now just need COX to speed up. I have my house wrapped in double foil and have a metal shop 40 ft away also insulated with double foil and I can now get three bars on WI-FI on my Smartphone and laptop. Had about two weeks with no drops in connection.

If you are not tech challenged and looking for the router with the top speed in ALL bands with more bells and whistles than you could really ever use, then this is it! It will be confusing to someone new to routers as there are so many options and configurations that must be done. But if you are up to it, then you will have the best!!!

I noticed such a big difference in speed when i download and my connection does not drop at all when i leave the computer on to download for many hours - i live in a 3000 sq feet house. From corner to corner i received "strong signal" otherwise fair. I was so amazed of the speed i get off streaming... 1.1mb/sec and even 2.2mb/sec. I decided to go out my way to post a review. It is a little pricey but its worth every penny. My previous 80 $ router disconnects my internet all the time, it was frustrating, but no more.

I upgraded to this router from Netgear N600 that I have to keep resetting every week. The money for this router is well worth it. Very happy. Hope this will maintain its strong signal.
