Good Overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good picture, the only negative thing I have to say about it is there is some motion blur on sports programming when you don't implement the digital correction feature for blurring. I would prefer a natural unaltered picture with no blur, but for the price, it's a good set. I'm done spending several thousand on a top of the line set only to have to replace it in a few years. This is a good price point, hopefully it last more than a few years.

Decent student or kids starter laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to check out a Chromebook mainly for something simple to travel with that has good battery life. From the outside this Acer Chromebook looks like a regular laptop. It has 2 USB 3 ports, HDMI out, headphone jack and SD card reader. Opening it up you have a regular chicklet style keyboard “no keypad and the keys are not backlit”, a nice large trackpad and speakers flanking each side of the keyboard. This isn’t a thin and light unit but more of a standard unit with large bezels around the screen and it’s as thick as all the other cheaper laptops I’ve seen lately. Booting up is very fast, almost no wait time for the login screen to appear. Setup was quick and easy as it used my Google login and password to get it set up, and after entering my password booting to the home screen is just about as fast. There’s no cooling fan and this unit makes absolutely no noise while running it. The system did have to do a pretty big update, it came with version 56 and upgraded to 62. The screen is very basic 1366x768, you can push the resolution a little higher but I noticed it didn’t look as clear. The viewing angle is pretty limited and you need to have it centered just right to look the best. The image starts to shift quite a bit as soon as you turn or change the angle. This is typical of what I’ve seen on cheaper laptops and for me being use to 1080hd screens it is very noticeable. I tried watching a movie on it through Google movies and it looked ok, just a little washed out, it did run fine without stutter though and the speakers actually sounded pretty good for this price range. Speed wise it ran all the Google apps I tried very fast, Gmail, Chrome, Docs, and the movies all ran quickly. I didn’t bog it down too much with multiple apps running but I usually keep that to a minimum anyway. The 4gb of memory is nice, the 16gb of storage is pretty limited but it connects to Google Drive and you get 100gb of storage with this unit, you just have to be connected to the internet to use it. I ran it for a few hours and barely used up and the battery level barely moved, I can see it getting close to the 12hrs that they advertise, it just depends on what you are doing. For me the Chrome OS isn’t for me, I rely on a lot of things this cannot do and would use my android tablet probably more. But if you want a simple system with a larger screen for web browsing, email, hangouts, and google docs I think this would be a great machine for that. Especially for kids in school, college students on a budget or older folks that just don’t want to mess around with a more complicated system like a full Android tablet or Windows laptop.
