Q: I use Word and Excel software. Can this be loaded onto the this product?
A: No, but you can create/edit MS Word and Excel files by downloading an Office extension on the Chrome Web store.
A: Yes. All Chromebooks do.
Q: Can this product be connected to the internet with a wired modem/router instead of wireless ?
A: No.. And YES. Chromebooks alone don't have ethernet ports, HOWEVER, one can purchase adapters that are priced from only $10 and up to convert your USB port to a ethernet port. Just get the adapter, plug it into the Chromebook USB and use a ethernet cable to go between the adapter and the modem/router and your connect to the web.
Q: Does the shell come in alternative colors than charcoal gray?
A: The charcoal gray is the only color available for this model.
A: No it doesn’t support gaming
A: Chromebooks run off of apps like an Android phone or tablet. If Publisher is available as an app from the Chrome Web store or Google Playstore, then it should work fine. Chromebooks are different from standard laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on board storage but they also are not expensive either. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better.
A: eMMC is old tech that should be avoided. It's about the equivalent of running your OS on a thumb drive - comparable single threaded read/write speeds with absolutely no bandwidth for real world use. Bandwidth is your friend - stick to SATA 3 SSDs or even better M.2 PCIE SSDs. 1080P is the standard in HD today - especially on a screen this size. 1080P streams are readily available everywhere, from Netflix to Youtube.
Q: My screen is upside down, how do I fix?
A: Oh my goodness! You must have been shipped the Australian model that is used south of the equator! LOL but seriously folks simply hit ctrl+shift+refresh. The refresh key is the one with the spinning arrow. It'll rotate the screen 90 degrees. Do that again since 90+90=180 degrees which is half-way round the circle. Peace out...
