Great gaming laptop’
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use it for work, flawless. It’ll do everything you need for work. For games. Flawless. I would upgrade to 8 more gb of ram for a total of 16 gb which it’s set up to evolve into. Then you can work and play your video games at the same time. Everything works wonderfully. It’s also very stylish. I’d prefer a metal build, but the plastic with red/black color scheme are beautiful and work together nicely. I bought this laptop on sale for 750.00. I’m thrilled about the price. I would’ve purchased it at the 830.00 retail and would’ve still been content. Buy with confidence. This machine is worth it. After you set it up, watch how quick it boots. It’ll blow you away! 9/10! If it were metal and had an i7 processor it’d be 10/10. Excellent machine!

Excelleng Cooling in a Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall Impressions: This is an excellent mid-tier gaming/workstation laptop. It has not only a solid CPU and an excellent graphics card for the form factor, but it has a top-notch cooling solution to keep the devices operating temperature in spec and from throttling. The only two bad things I have to say (and honestly, they aren’t all that bad) is that it comes with only a single stick of RAM and the C: drive is a bit too small. While the total RAM of the system is 8 GB (Which is at the very low end of gaming) the main issue is it is a single stick. Depending on your application that could reduce your overall system performance by 8%-10%. Why do I still recommend this laptop, because an extra stick of 8GB RAM right now is cheap, and an easy upgrade to make. Additionally, that performance hit you won’t notice unless you are testing before and after, and it depends on the game/application. Some won’t be impacted others will. My recommendation is as soon as it is feasible add another stick of RAM to make the system have 16GB not only will you enjoy the extra performance, but your games will thank you too. The 120GB Boot drive while “big” enough can fill up fast in this day and age, so I wish it came with at least a 250GB or a 512GB. Again, it just means you must manage your space and usage and make sure to use the 1TB HDD to keep from filling up the drive. In the grand scheme of Laptops, these are not big problems and easy to solve/work around for the cooling and otherwise great experience you get with the device out of the box I think it is worth it. Hardware: Overall this is a nice design for Acer. While not bleeding edge premium, the case is still nice and sturdy feeling, while having plenty of venting for cooling. In a gaming laptop, where every 5C of temperature increase can slow your Nvidia GPU down, this is a must to keep peek performance. Additionally, they have two NVME slots and a standard laptop HDD (2.5 drive). This means if you wanted you could upgrade the storage in the device to 2 very fast SSD, and one slower larger SSD. This is not something I’ve seen a lot of yet, so being able to have storage is a total win. While it only comes with one RAM Stick, its easily upgradeable. While not as good as the days gone when they used to leave RAM “Windows” to make changing easy, Acer didn’t make it hard. It was a few screws on the bottom and whole panel came off in one piece making it easy to see the insides and take a picture, as well as upgrade the RAM (I had some spare) to have two sticks and 16GB. The screen looks fine to me, smooth and IPS for great all-around viewing angle. The video card is a Nvidia 1650 with 4GB of dedicated RAM, giving good gaming at medium/high settings depending on the framerate you want. It has USB-C and 3 regular USB ports (two 3.0 and one 2.0) as well as an HDMI port to make it easy to hook up to your TV. And as I said before awesome cooling. They have some nice heat pipes and if you don’t mind the noise fans that will work to keep the laptop cool for long gaming sessions. This is the part that got me interested in the laptop. Someone took the time to make sure they could cool the laptop and didn’t make it all that bulky either. A nice Double win. Setup Very easy, unbox, plug in and turn on. Microsoft walks you through the setup, with Cortana now speaking to you naturally. Therefore, getting into Windows 10 is easy. Acer didn’t overload this machine with a bunch of junk. Only app I uninstalled was the Symantec Anti-virus, if Windows Defender is a good enough AV Solution for Corporate Microsoft, then its fine for my home PC, with the added benefit of being free. Otherwise nothing extra that I saw, which is great. That meant I could get up and working with the laptop that much faster. Usage While I don’t have any gaming numbers, I did happen to run the Heaven benchmark on the laptop on battery, and on high settings averaged around 47 fps with my run. Keep in mind I was on battery so I expect on AC where the PC will go more for performance to see a bump in that number. What impressed me the most was that the 1650 was reported clocked at a frequency of 2100 and kept it solid the whole time. I haven’t added MSI afterburner to confirm, but if correct it would explain for the performance, which was very nice. Playing my normal games like Hitman 2, on Medium I had no problems that I saw. It was able to run the game without problem. While this isn’t a substitute for my gaming desktop, it is a good on the go machine that I can use to cover that itch. Again, I’m very happy with the laptop. Its performance for the package is impressive. I’m happy and if this is your budge and you don’t mind gaming at 1080p 30-60fps (depending on how your tune the graphics on current AAA) games this is a good device to evaluate. I think it is ideal and covers my needs, and I’m happy with the cooling solution they implemented, knowing this should cover my mobile needs for the next few years. Happy gaming.

Fantastic budget gaming laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This seems like the perfect mid-range laptop for gaming that I have come across. The 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H mobile processor has eight cores and uses Intel Turbo Boost Technology to speed things up when you need it and less energy when you don’t. The 15.6” HD display is 1920 x 1080 and is bright, clear and responsive. The viewing angle is pretty good as well. The bottom of the laptop is removable when you take off the 12 screws and then you have access to the battery (3720 mAh), storage, and RAM, it does take a little effort to pull the whole panel off and I was afraid of breaking some clips, but I did not. It comes with 8GB DDR4 SDRAM , but you have another slot so you can increase it to 32GB in all. It is nice that this laptop has a M.2 NVMe drive (128GB) for the OS to load up and a 1TB SATA drive for storage, there is also an additional M.2 slot that is unused. There is a memory card reader, BT chip, Ethernet port, 1 USB Type A 2.0 port, 3 USB 3.0 Type A ports, 1 USB 3.1 Type C port, and an HDMi output. Graphics is supplied by a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4GB of memory. There are better cards out there, but this is a good card for the money. Oh, and the backlit keyboard (Red only) that has the typical FPS markings on them for gaming. The keys are responsive, and the layout does take a little bit getting used to and I found myself always hitting the incorrect keys. A small learning curve, but it’s not too bad. This is a pretty heavy laptop but the design is nice and not overly “gamerly” is that makes sense. One of the best features I think for this laptop is the fact that you can open it up with one hand by just lifting the top and you don’t have to hold the bottom down. Every laptop I have owned you had to use two hands to open it up and I just find this really handy. Battery life is decent and it’s rated for 6 hours, but I was having to recharge every 4 to 5, unless I was gaming, then it only lasted about 3 hours. This laptop handed everything that I threw at it without skipping a beat. Windows 10 Home performs fast and is what you expect from a modern day PC. While gaming, the fans will spin up but the noise isn’t too bad unless they are full bore! Then the laptop sounds like it’s going to take off. The internal speakers are surprisingly good and they can drown out nearly all of the fan sound except when they are fully on. A nice set of headphones always solves that issue though. Acer also includes a nice neoprene sleeve to keep the laptop in and I was pleasantly surprised by that as well. Overall, I will highly recommend this laptop to my friends who are looking for a budget device that is well built and works great.

Good Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this for a while now. I purchased it for my 6 year old daughter who LOVES video games. It's her first official gaming computer. She absolutely loves it. My only issues have been: 1. The key caps are extremely hard to remove and even harder to get back on. I have had to remove them because crumbs and dust get underneath them and affect the way the keys work. 2. The material that the screen and body are made of is extremely cheap plastic. Even when I just open the computer I feel like I'm going to break it. Other than these issues it has been a perfect starter computer and runs EVERYTHING I have put on it for her.

Great budget gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this laptop has exceeded my expectations. I have played Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 4, GTA V, Rise of the Tombraider and Fortnite on this and it has played them all in 1080p with no issues. You are not going to have the settings on Ultra but its plenty powerful for the price. I use the hdmi expansion to ay the games on a 27" monitor extended for work. Technically you can extend it to 3 screens (laptop / hdmi and the third screen share to smart TV) however there is noticeable lag for the screen share to the smart TV, so you can game with wireless screen share. My kids insist I use a hdmi and let them play on the TV near the desk.. I've read that this is supposed to have a SD card reader, but that is not true. The laptop fan is adjustable via the built in Nitro Sense software so it stays cool. I think the only drawback is the screen brightness isn't super bright, plenty for indoors, but having it outside in the sun is hard to see. Would absolutely recommend if your price range is about $800. My kids like hooking this up to the TV

Great bang for your buck. Performance and value.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic laptop in my opinion so far as I’ve been playing with it for the last couple days now. Let’s recap...this has an Intel core i5 with 8 GB RAM. 1TB hard drive and a 128 GB solid state drive and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. Windows 10 home OS. Expandable memory up to 32 GB. 1080p screen. Size 15.6 inch screen. Weighs in at 5.51 pounds. 3 USB ports, 1 USB-c port, Ethernet jack, and an HDMI port. Overall I think this is great for the beginner to mid level pc gamer that wants to have fun and play intense games without having to break the bank on a high end machine. This computer is certainly capable but may have its limitations on higher multimedia based games running 4K for example. Not at all a bad machine but may be frowned upon by someone who regularly uses a pc that runs over a grand. Windows 10 performs quickly and responsively and never seems to lag. The specs of this machine are adequate and can handle most games without feeling like the machine is overwhelmed. It’s a bulky laptop and for good reason. Acer may have used plastic casing for this laptop but they stuffed it with plenty of fast hardware components to ensure a smooth gaming experience. I feel the audio speakers on this machine are very nice. I was feeling submerged in the sound as I was getting a full surround effect steaming movies and playing games. Most will use dedicated gaming headsets with this laptop which will enhance the experience but I feel audio clarity and sound is fantastic from the laptop alone. The design is very nice and has an aesthetic appeal. An obsidian black accented with a crimson edging. The red keyboard is a nice touch with the backlight and the color can’t be changed but I’m ok with that. It stays on par with the red themed Acer Nitro branding. The keyboard feels nice and has a great tactile feel on the depressing of the keys. I find the screen to be very nice and sufficient for my purposes. Whether I’m gaming, surfing, or composing a spreadsheet the screen is crisp and clear. Gaming on this has been a fun ride for me. I don’t notice any lagging or slow down or overheating. This battery is sufficient when not plugged in with maybe 6-7 hours of usage. One thing I find will be useful to gamers will be the Nitrosense control panel on this machine. It will allow you to customize and adjust the various settings internally to help you monitor your machine and have it run to your liking. Call of duty is my go to game for playing and I loved it on this machine. No lag and screen had no issues with refresh. As pointed out earlier the sound was clear and crisp without headphones as well. PRO: Budget minded Fast internal hardware Great color scheme CON: Heavy and bulky (but it’s expected)

Stay away for now
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a total of 3 of this model laptop. First 2 were manufactured on April 4th and last one was April 15th, all made this year. All 3 had the same problem which was during a scene that was suppose to be black or dark, there was a yellowish/ whitish color radiating from 2 areas below the webcam and other areas around the corners of the screen. A minor issue I had was also the speakers are not as loud as my 9 year old Toshiba laptop that died( reason for a new laptop), I had to figure out the Waves audio to make it tolerable. Out the box it is on a low setting and had to change it to movie which is better but even with that and on 100 was not as loud as my Toshiba at 50. But I do not want to keep degrading this laptop because once they figure out what caused the screen issue, it will be a good laptop with the features for the price and hopefully they install better speakers. I hope this review gets the attention of Best Buy and Acer to resolve the screen issue.

This Acer surprised me
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife had started working from home even before corona. With my main computer sitting in the office held hostage I decided to get a notebook i could play my games on in another room. I couldn't find a decent deal on any "gaming" notebooks exactly how i wanted them. So i settled on this one. It had a newer 1650 nvidia chipset. It's only a 50's series, but it was a slight step up from the 1050. My preference for Intel has waned since AMD stepped up their newer less expensive chips, but this I5 has done well for me. First thing off the bat i did was remove the spindle crap hard drive and put in a WD black SN750 NVME stick which is 500g. I also added another 8g stick of memory to make it 16g. I then installed all my games onto the secondary drive to keep EVERYTHING but system programs on the OS drive since its only 128g(and so far its still only half full). So that upped the price another $100 but made it the exact way I wanted it. No slow old hard drives with moving parts that fail. I have had this now a few months and love it. This notebook has handled all the games I play extremely well. The screen looks great. Everything plays great. I am playing wow, xcom 2, fortnight and it just runs great. There are only three downsides to this notebook. 1. It can get HOT when gaming. The fan system runs good, but it does heat up so dont be afraid to turn on the nitrosense(cooling system). Thats really does help. It's not a dealbreaker for me as I know any pc will get hot when putting it to work. 2. The power plug. The plug in is on the side next to a vent. Also the plug can slip out easily when it gets hot if you bump it. Nothing major. 3. The ACER care center software. It's ok, just not very intuitive. My kids HP has system software that is way more slick. That's my opinion anyways. That's it. Those are the only knocks i have on this. I will say that even with the newer NVME HD, the battery can be depleted gaming on it within an hour(usually 30-45 mins). Your mileage may vary. Again, normal expectations. It's notebook that has a second NVME slot, typical hard drive slot, and a secondary open RAM slot with a decent video card that's priced semi reasonably and has a bright beautiful 1080 screen (kids HP screen is way dimmer). Upgradability what is possible in a notebook is awesome. Anyways, I hope this review helps in your notebook shopping. Best of luck in shopping.

Affordable Gaming Laptop for the Masses
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, a little about me, I'm a lifelong gamer but have mostly gamed on consoles. I'm also a tech enthusiast but gaming on a PC just never caught on with me, can't explain why. I've always known that you can get better performance on a gaming PC but I just always preferred the stability of popping a disc into a console and it just working without having to worry about settings, drivers, compatibility, and services to buy games. But nowadays, it's hard to get away from gaming PCs. They seem to be more prevalent and more main stream (I'm in no way suggesting PC gaming hasn't been popular). So my take in this Acer gaming laptop comes from someone with limited PC "tinkering" experience and someone who is aware of the various graphics cards, CPUs, RAM, etc, but simply never invested the time and energy into creating my own gaming PC. What's important to me, is that it just works and works well. And this PC succeeds on all fronts. DESIGN Gaming PCs nowadays can get wild and innovative. While I always appreciate the ingenuity, I prefer my PCs to look a bit more "normal" as I use mine for a wide variety of purposes. The Acer Nitro 5 in my opinion nails the design of gaming PC without going over the top. It has an understated red and black design with tasteful vent openings in the back. While there might be thinner gaming PCs out there (I'm thinking Razer) this one doesn't strike me as chunky. Yes, it's thicker than your average laptop, but I'm impressed at how thin it is given the hardware inside. I wish the bezels around the entire display were smaller, but that's not too big of a deal. The only complaint I have about the design is a small one, but it's the location of the power cable. As I'll get to in a moment, this baby needs to be plugged in if you plan on gaming. The power plug is in the middle of the right side of the laptop and can get in the way depending on where the power outlet is in relation to which way the computer is facing. Not a big deal, but it's something I immediately noticed. In today's day and age of less and less ports on a computer, the Acer Nitro has plenty of them, including an Ethernet port. I have yet to use it, but for someone reason, I like having the option. There's 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, a USB-C port, HDMI port and headphone jack. Honestly, that's all I could and would ask for. FEATURES This computer has a 128 GB M.2 hard drive for fast loading and 1 TB HDD. I personally don't like having two separate drives but I understand the cost considerations on behalf of the manufacturer. The screen is rated for 144 Hz (trust me, once you use a monitor with high refresh rate you'll never want to go back) but I simply could not figure out how to "activate" it. Not sure if it's supposed to come on automatically or what, but I've had no issues playing at the standard 60 Hz. I found the screen bright and crisp. It's Full HD, no QHD here, but at 15 inches, it's more than fine. It comes preloaded with Acer's "Nitrosense" software which I find cool. While I'm not one to deep dive into the settings of a computer to get the most out of it (again, I'm a guy that prefers plug and play) I do appreciate the ability within this program to activate higher performance settings with the click of a button and see the gauges of how your computer's running. But honestly, if this wasn't included I wouldn't have minded. It's still nice though. GAMING PERFORMANCE if you're reading this, this is what you probably want to know, how does this Acer Nitro perform for gaming. I can say that it's pretty remarkable. I played Far Cry 5 and was simply blown away by the performance. Again, I didn't change any settings. Once I updated the Geforce driver settings, that program automatically sets the optimal settings for each game and it does a fantastic job. This is what I need for PC gaming: a program that automatically adjusts the setting to get the best balance of performance and graphically fidelity without me messing with it. I have yet to experience any slowdowns in Far Cry 5 and the graphics are crisp and sharp. Even though my PS4 is plugged into a big 4K TV, it's tough going back after playing on the Acer Nitro. I've played Assassins Creed, Far Cry 5 and even the original Splinter Cell (all through Steam/Ubisoft store) and it's been an amazing experience. GENERAL USE One of the best parts of this laptop is that it can act as your daily driver. I've done some video editing (1080p video) on Adobe Premiere Elements with no issues. It can certainly handle almost all programs you could throw at it. And like I said, it's no so audacious and over the top in gaming design that it feels weird taking into an office meeting. While I wouldn't get the Acer Nitro if all you're going to do is use it for general computing, it's nice to know that it's like a swiss army knife and can handle virtually any task you throw at it. BATTERY LIFE I'd be remiss not to point out the one thing holding this computer (and ANY gaming laptop for that matter) from being nearly perfect. That's battery life. This should be no surprise, but even using this on battery power for general computing tasks I could only get 2.5 hours out of it. Which pales in comparison to my old 15 inch Acer Aspire R which would get 8 plus hours. It was a big adjustment for me. On the one hand, high end PC gaming on the go is awesome, but know that you'll need to be tethered to power, even if you plan on simply web browsing, watching movies, typing a Word document on the go. I would not say, not to buy this laptop because of the battery life, it's just something to be aware of for this (or any gaming laptop) if this is your first foray into laptop PC gaming. CONCLUSION All-in-all I've been extremely impressed with the Acer Nitro. The ability to take a laptop anywhere (with a power outlet) and play high end PC games is a literal game changer. The Acer Nitro was smartly designed with a subtle gaming design that isn't over the top that can act as a daily driver so long as you remain cognizant of the inherent battery life limitations present on all laptop PC gaming machines. And for those similar to me that are worried about having to adjust settings to get the best out of your PC, know that the included Geforce Experience program from Nvidia coupled with Acer's Nitrosense goes a long way to taking the guess work (for the uneducated) out getting the graphical and performance settings right.

Good quality gaming pc by Acer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is nicely laid out mid range gaming pc by Acer. The gtx 1650 plays most games at meduim to higher settings, the 15.6 led screen looks very good while doing so. The 128 gb m.2 ssd for OS loads quickly and gives some room for smaller games. Also included is a 1tb hdd, great for larger games as well as pictures and videos. The red backlit keyboard is a nice feature for a midrange laptop, makes playing games at nite easier. The 8 gb of included memory was enough for the games I play, and never caused any hiccups for the laptop while gaming or multi tasking. There are plenty of ports included as well, whkch some gaming laptops costing twice as much dont have. Such as Usb ports, ethernet port, hdmi port, very nicely sone Acer. The intel i5 cpu works without any strain, regaurdless of what I was doing, this laptop being a gaming version does run hot. Best to keep it on a desk or table top for best ventilation. Battery life isnt great, but most all gaming laptops have thjs same issue. Id rate this Acer 4 out of 5 stars, which is great at this price point.

Great gaming laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This gaming laptop is impressive, and it is worth considering. Acer designs have the nicest appearance, and they all look like premium products. My son and I have enjoyed many hours of game time with this laptop, and it performs well all the time. The specs are perfect for a portable gaming device. The battery holds a charge very well, and the battery life lasts a couple of hours. For a gaming laptop, it is lightweight and easy to transport. The graphics performance is impressive. With the CoolBost technology, the user has the option to increase or reduce the fan speed to avoid overheating when gaming. I can connect all I need with all the provided ports; it comes with: 1 AC Power port, headphone jack, 3 USB, 1 USB-C type, Ethernet, 1 HDMI, and a lock slot. The keyboard and mouse pad layouts are comfortable and responsive. I enjoy the back lit feature on the keyboard. The speakers are on the bottom left/right side of the laptop, and they produce decent sound. The screen display is impressive, which makes playing more enjoyable. This laptop performs like a gaming desktop, but with the convenience that it is portable.

Great laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming laptop. I decided to do this review little bit more simple then usually. I am pleasantly surprised with RJ54 port which lately many laptops are missing. Design and performance are both great and I love the color combinations used in here. Another great thing about this computer is design of air vents which are very important in order to keep this device cool, which is not always easy thing to do when gaming. Design of venting system combined with coolboost technology will definitely handle of of your gaming needs. Backlit (red) keyboard is nice touch and keys are very pleasant to use but since it's new they do feel little bit "hard" and I am expecting them to soften up with use. Touch pad is easy to navigate but I would prefer to have a touch pad at center of the palm rest because I had several accidental taps while using WASD navigation keys. I know that all computer with numeric side keyboard tend to build touch pad centered from letters portion of keyboard not the center of palm rest but I don't like that. Full HD IPS display on this device it's beautiful regardless is it used for gaming, watching video or to read documents. It makes use very pleasant and it's definitely top of the class thanks to NVidia GeForce GTX1650 graphic card. Computer perform really good as expected based on hardware configuration and my only negative opinion of configuration hardware itself is secondary HDD - 5400rpm 1TB drive. I am not even sure why do we see anything lower than 7200rpm drives in 2019, especially in gaming computers. Solid state for primary drive it's nice feature but secondary drive should be at least 7200rpm. Dual M2 slot is big plus which i definitely will take advantage of. Speakers are doing decent job and I would rate them as average. Another thing that I want to mention is weight. This computer is pretty heavy computer compered to modern day laptops but since this is a gaming computer I would not take this in negative contest. Sometimes weight means real quality parts are used and i believe in this case that "rule" could be applied in here I am battling myself should I rate this with 5 or 4 stars review especially because of 1tb drive mentioned above. Pros: Good design Back lit keyboard Graphics and display Dual M2 ssd slot High class Processor Cooling technology Cons: Touch pad position (in my opinion) 5400rpm (secondary) HDD Neutral: Weight

This laptop packs a punch with futuristic styling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to get a nice laptop that can deal with high demand. I am a photographer and use a lot of programs at once when editing pictures and video and in my past experiences it's bogged down the computer and taken a considerable amount of time to complete processes and caused delays in my work. This PC has been a dream to work with. The gaming build gives me the option to turn the fans up or down to keep things running cool smooth and no lag. It's sped up my workflow for sure. Allowing me to work with multiple large sized files with no issues whatsoever. I love the styling in the outer shell but the red lettering and red back lighting is a bit much. I makes it somewhat difficult to see what button your looking at. So far so good I'm more than pleased overall and would definitely recommend this to those who may need the extra performance aspect.

First Laptop in Ages!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’d like to start this review off by saying that I haven’t had a computer of any kind in at least a few years, so my review might be a little biased because of that. Let’s begin, shall we? First and foremost, I picked this computer primarily based on the type and number of hard drives that it has. The fact there are two hard drives in this laptop, the primary one I bought it for being the SSD, while the second is a regular type but with a terabyte of space on it. As someone that enjoys gaming and streaming a lot, all that storage space comes in extremely handy for when pretty much anything needs an update. It also means that everything is running at the desired/standard pace that one would expect things to be running at. Next up, the live chat capabilities. Seeing as how I’m writing this review during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ability to get on webcam and make video calls to people all over is an amazing asset to have, and especially so for people that don’t go out all that much. Yes, your typical smartphone could easily take care of most calls like that, providing that they have a forward-facing camera built into them. I highly doubt, however, that I’m the only one who has run into this particular issue, but using that feature on a phone tends to drain the battery a little too quickly. I’ve even had my phone get to the point where it will even start to get so physically hot from the extended usage that I will have to give it a break if I want to make sure that it doesn’t automatically turn off due to overheating. With this laptop I not only don’t have to worry about that happening nearby as much, but I’ve also got a larger screen to view everyone on, I can have more than one person video chatting with me at a time, and (as of right now) I can have all of that going with little to no lag time during all of it. Now, the final item I plan on reviewing for this piece of tech I’m doing because of how strong of an impression it made on me - the backlit keyboard, complete with number pad. I use a regular computer at work, and as such the keyboard (obviously) has the number pad on the right hand side of the setup. A large number of laptops, I’ve noticed in recent months, don’t have that as a standard feature on them. No only does this laptop have the number pad built into its hardware, but the keys themselves are all backlit to make them easier to see in low-to-no lighting. I don’t think I need to tell you that being able to see your the keys at all times when you’re gaming is pretty important, as there are some occasions where you need to make important decisions at the drop of a hat. And while I can only speak for myself when I say something like this, but as a gamer I tend to like my environment to be a little bit more dimly lit than anything, as that makes the glow from the screen all the more attention-grabbing and allows for me to be much more fully engrossed than when there’s a light on. So yes, the presence of the backlit keyboard has become such a profound feature that I can safely say that I don’t think I’ll ever go back to using a keyboard that isn’t backlit if I can help it, and this laptop is to thank/blame for that. And there it is, folks. There are a lot of other great features and detail to this laptop that I could have gone over, but sticking to the three that I have been getting the most use out of seemed the better option than writing up a novel. I will say that even though this is a new computer, I’ve still never had one that has run as fast as this one does, and am consistently impressed with how well it performs in general. In fact, the only real issues I have with this laptop are the fact that the setup process can take a bit longer than normal if you aren’t prepared for it, and that the backlit keyboard only has one color that it lights up with, that being red. The keyboard also doesn’t stay lit for too long, and there are (surprisingly) no ways to change that feature at all that I can find. Beyond those minor details, however, I have been loving this thing, and maintain that it has been one of my best purchases for myself that I’ve made in the past decade. Anyone needing a laptop that makes gaming and whatnot easier should look no further than this one here!

Totally worth it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is a nice update over last year's model, because it's a lot slimmer. The screen is still beautiful, and the keyboard feels much better to type on. They did a great job. The laptop is great for the gaming I've done, but I've also done some editing. It's great for that too. The one Con that I found is that they too away the full size SD card slot, as I needed that when transferring files. Other than that, the price is right and battery life is great in my usage.
