Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the Spin 15 Chromebook's large screen size and ease of use, especially for children. Positive feedback also highlights its decent battery life and solid performance for everyday Chromebook tasks. While some users noted minor issues with the operating system and speaker placement, the overall experience appears to be quite positive. The lightweight design is another frequently praised feature.

Love it, missing one thing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this device. The screen is awesome. I love that it flips over and you can use in Tablet Mode. It boots quickly (as do all Chromebooks). Keys are responsive. One area I wish was included was a lighted keyboard. Working in low level light or at night when you first turn it on I find I would have liked a light up keyboard. Otherwise this machine is awesome.

May very well be my fav electronic device ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a career network engineer who is neck-deep in the Google/Android ecosystem, but for years now I've been heeding the advice of others and avoiding Chromebooks. Don't get me wrong -- I wasn't totally relying on reviews and feedback. I did my research several times since they were first released and they just really didn't seem like they had a place in my tech arsenal. They weren't quite as mainstream as Android tablets and they definitely weren't laptop replacements. It didn't help that some time in there companies released Windows tablets and netbooks. Why go with such a compromise as a Chromebook when you can have a full-blown Windows 10 netbook/tablet that run all your applications, basic games, etc.? Enter this new generation of Chromebooks -- bigger, faster, more powerful, and now combine that with a much more mature ChromeOS (and even Chrome Browser), which can now run Android apps, and it's a whole new game. I've owned this for almost 4 months now, and during that time I think I've only touched my Asus ROG gaming laptop like 3 times and haven't touched my Android tablet at all. This Chromebook is great because of it's huge screen. You're basically getting a 15" tablet. I'm loving running my Android games on it when flipped in tablet mode. Because I'm so invested in Android, I'm basically using Android apps as replacements for any functionality I would normally do with a laptop, including photo editing, multimedia (Netflix, Plex, YouTube TV, Philo, etc.), games, VPN, security camera monitoring, etc. And any bases that aren't covered with an Android app, I can just as easily use a Linux app by way of Crostini. And these Linux apps can be launched from the ChromeOS launcher just like they were a Chrome or Android app. Me being me, I found Crostini to be a little limiting, so I made my Chromebook dual-boot ChromeOS and a full Ubuntu Linux. These are running at the same time and you can instantly switch between the two. So in Ubuntu I'm actually running the full version of Minecraft (not the Android Pocket Edition) as well as Steam, which allows me to play such relatively high end games as Team Fortress 2, Borderlands 2, Bioshock, Doom, etc. Between ChromeOS, Crostini, Android, and Ubuntu this Chromebook can easily replace (if not even surpass) a laptop. The speakers on this Chromebook are great, the screen is great, the keyboard is great (takes a little to get used to with the ChromeOS differences), even the touchpad is great. The battery life is FANTASTIC. I believe they advertise 12-hours, and I easily get that. It also charges up very fast through the USB-C charge port (and it's nice that that they have a USB-C port on both sides and either one can be used for charging). In addition to the 64GB of internal storage (which I have plenty left even though I'm running ChromeOS, Crostini, Android, and Ubuntu), I also put a 128GB microSD card in it for storing my movies. If you've been sitting on the fence about Chromebooks, I would say it's time get off and get one. From my research, this Acer model seemed the best to me (best deal, best features, etc.). I think the Google Pixelbook, Lenovo Chomebook, and the Dell Chromebooks are WAY overpriced and don't really get you anything more than this Acer offers (and in some ways you actually get less).

It's a tank
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing that got my attention was the weight and size. This thing is a tank. It's large, bulky and heavy. On the plus side, the screen is great for streaming videos. Bright and clear. Enough memory and processing power to handle any entertainment or light business needs. A plus and negative is the fact that you can flip from keyboard to tablet. The plus is obvious, but because of the Acer's size and weight it was difficult to use except when seated. On the move, it's only usable if held vertically and held like a baby. A smaller version with the same features might be easier for most to handle. Quite honestly for a casual user an android tablet might be a better choice, albeit with an added keyboard more expensive.

Excellent Chromebook experiece
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several Chromebooks (8?), most recently a Samsung Chromebook Pro. I bought the Chromebook Spin 15 as an Open Box special for $345, but even had I paid full price ($445), it would have been a very good buy. First, it has a backlit keyboard; second, the speakers are very loud (and I have a hearing deficiency(), as well as good quality - not tinny-; third, I haven't found any video or app it wouldn't play. Its only downside: itś very heavy, not suitable for any length of time on the lap.

Terrific Chromebook, Touch Screen, Specs, Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A perfect choice for the 13 year old's birthday. The size of the screen, the versatility of being able to fold the keyboard behind it and use it as a touch screen, specs well above pricier, smaller chromebooks, made this an easy choice. The caveat for a crhomebook is that it's just the best hardware for what the Chrome browser does. You won't be installing any drivers or applications, although it was easy to install a wireless mouse. For a fully featured real OS, you'd have to spend quite a bit more, but for middle and high school students, this meets most classrooms' academic needs.

Not efficient for work or school
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a very sleek and quick machine. However it doesn't work with any of the Microsoft necessities needed for work or school. It's literally a tablet with an attached keyboard. I returned it immediately.

Great Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this computer is amazing. The only downside that I have is that Microsoft office products - mainly excel are not the full versions available and now I have to return this amazing computer because I need the full version.

Crash, crash, crash, and more crash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Running no apps, no extensions, recently Powerwashed, Chrome resizes when it wants to, crashes frequently, and a dialog box pops up in the upper right corner. I have checked the task manager and nothing unusual is running or taking up memory or processor. I have Powerwashed this thing three times. I have disabled all extensions. I have updated it. Nothing fixes it. This was bought simply to have something to browse the internet. All it has to do is run the Chrome browser and it can't do that reliably.
