Thos is a great computer. The only software issue I had was with an update with the sound driver but software clashes happen right? I just had to reinstall the driver. The only other feature I found to be lacking is a cd/dvd reader writer. The only other thing I would change is a sturdier power cord. You will neednto keep the cord in a safe place from kids, pets and adults alike to keep it working and not broken.

I like the computer. It's flashy and exciting. Though I think apple has a better screen, this computer is easier to use.

this is a gaming beast! It is big and powerful. Nice to be able to watch movies while in a hotel as well.

I do cad work, 3d scanning, 3d printing, cnc programming and such as a hobby and I have old eyes with various issues. I don't game. I don't need 4k video. I'm big enough to carry a 10 lbs computer and accessories without getting sore. I wanted powerful graphics, big screen, good processing, large memory and quick startup. I buy a new computer about every 6 years or so which means I want one that lasts and won't be weak in a few years. I think this one fits the bill. The 1070 is heralded as the best gpu for the money. The 6th gen cpu is still really powerful and relevant. The 128gb ssd is big enough for all my software so it starts right up. This computer has room for more drives so I'll probably get a bigger ssd in a year or so and remove the hdd to save power. This thing boots right up and runs fast. It has been very quiet. Ive never heard the fans but they look like they'll be strong when needed. The only icon on the screen when it started was the recycle bin - no bloatware. Yay! The deck is black rubbery material that seems like it must be what Batmans suit must feel like. It's very comfortable. The chassis is solid. Read the specs and reviews online. The back lights on the keyboard are very cool color changing leds and there are lights on the outside that light this thing up like Miamis South beach area. Very cool but overkill for me. I leave them on tho. The eye tracking software is interesting. When you look away from the screen for a few seconds the screen dims and the keyboard lights go off. Look back at it and they turn back on. Cool and probably saves some power. I'd like to see what else those tools can do as more software becomes available to leverage it. The warning I'll give is that this thing is very big and you need to shop a bag for it carefully. I bought the alienware vindicator bag for it which is an awesome bag. I can even put my dell 17 inch in there with it. Make sure to buy the bag specified as v2.0. The original version is too small even though the dimensions look right. (yes i bought the wrong one first.) The bag and computer taper and that affects sizing. Note that the price of those bags also varies alot. I saw them from $100 to double that. I searched for 6 weeks for the best laptop and decided this was the one I wanted but it was out of my price range. I searched all the sites every day for weeks and found best buy kept having the best prices. Watch for a sale here. I ended up getting an open box that was also on sale so I paid $1229 while it listed at $1800 and then paid $50 for the Geek Squad to make sure it was still good. I am so happy with this purchase!

Runs smoothly fast boot up runs my games better than my desktop. A bit bulky had to buy a special bag for it but

This laptop is an amazing desktop replacement. There isn't a game it doesn't just absolutely destroy.

I want to be as impartial as possible on this review. I think that this is very important information if you are considering purchasing this system, especially for gaming and/or VR. Look at the attached benchmark scores carefully! MSI GT72S Dominator with a GTX 970 beat the GTX 1070 by about 500%. How does that work?! Also, when playing the same games while multitasking, the Alienware was lagging while my other system didn't miss a beat. Hope this helps you!

This runs everything I need from work to play. Everything I expected from an Alienware laptop.
