The rear auto speakers were replaced because of a problem with the bass sound being distorted. This problem has reappeared and I will be back at Best Buy next week to determine if it is a speaker problem or something else. There is a possibility that the original problem was not the OE speakers. So the jury is out until Best Buy determines what is causing the sound distortion.

I swapped out my factory speakers on my car with these. The sound quality: night and day. My old drivers couldn't go past 40% on the volume w/heavy distortion. Plus - they were paper. I just replaced my car about a month ago + my old one had the same stock speakers - I destroyed the ones in my old car. These: nice tough materials, power-wise they can handle 5X+ what my car's stock system can put out (*Sadly, I've got a head unit w/climate + car controls I can't swap out for an aftermarket stereo.) Gave these a run ... bass - these have some serious kick. Nice and clear vocals too - many times better than my car's stock. The music I play sounds WAY different than it did with the factory system I had. So much better, I wish I had picked these up long ago! Not only are these killer, but the auto tech @ Bestbuy set aside the harnesses for me + gave me advice for upgrading my system. Need the parts, they've got them. All around great. Very happy with these.

Works great in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was one of the few that would clear the space of the front door panel speaker grills in my Jeep. They installed easily, and sound great! My factory speakers were blown up front and I needed to find a replacement. These fit the bill! The only thing I'd say is that bass response could be better. I've read that the material that the speaker cone is made out of has an effect on the amount of bass a speaker can produce. All in all a great purchase, though! (:

I installed 4 of these about a year ago, 2 in front doors and 2 in rear doors, and have no complaints at all! The highs play nice and clear, the mids are clear and not distorted. Does play low frequencies ok but that is not what they were designed for so can't fault them for that. My 2 12s fix that problem. All and all i would buy again and recommended! These are a vast improvement over most stock speakers.

    GREAT SPEAKERS!!

I am so happy with these speakers! They are a significant upgrade from my stock speakers that I had in my 96' Lumina but with a set of Alpine 5 1/4" speakers and these I now have phenomenal sound at any volume! BestBuy did a great job installing them. They got the job done under the estimated time and I couldn't be happier. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone looking to upgrade their stock speakers!

I have owned the fantastic Alpine SPR-69's in the past and, I must say, they were the very best speaker I have ever owned. Are these SPE's as good? Nope, they are not, but that shouldn't stop you from taking a chance on these. For the money they are a decent purchase. I have mine hooked up to an Alpine MRP-F300 which puts out 50 Watts RMS x 4 channels, and it hits hard. I am not sure why people are complaining about these speakers. Mine are in a 6x9 enclosure and they hit true and loud. If installing in a car door, use some Dynamat, not a baffle. These speakers need power, lots of clean power. I chose this speaker because I have had success with the Alpine brand in the past, and I will continue to trust them in the future. You really do get what you pay for, and I will happily pay a little more for Alpine speakers.

    Great Speakers

I’ve never bought Alpine speakers before, but these speakers are great. I do not have these hooked up to an amp, just my Pioneer head unit. They are good if you are replacing factory speakers and want better sound quality. They do not have a lot of bass compared to other 6x9 speakers Best Buy sells, but that’s why I bought these. I am installing a subwoofer, so I didn’t want my speakers to have a lot of bass. So for my application they are perfect. If you are looking for bass, look elsewhere. These speakers surprised me with the clarity of the highs and lows, I can crank them up to volume level 55 of 60 before I get any sort of distortion. I highly recommend these speakers if you will be installing a subwoofer as well. Even without the subwoofer, they do sound a lot better than factory speakers

Great speakers and sound! Put in an 03 cavalier and they didn't fit at first. Had to cut some metal to make speaker hole a bit larger so the speaker fit. Not really that big of a deal but for someone not comfortable custom fitting its an issue. They sound great! Rich high and nice lows! Worth the money!

    The Truth

OK, so here is what you're really looking at. Yes its Alpine, and Alpine normally makes really awesome products! but these are the lowest line created by Alpine. It almost seems that the "E" in "E"-series stands for Economy. They do have good volume on them, but they have absolutely zero bass and cant handle the power that come from most factory head units so you get this rattling noise most of the time unless your volume is at a whisper. Really all these speakers are good for is to replace your factory speakers IF they're blown out. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone whos looking for real and true sound or looking to do a complete audio makeover. My advice? get the S or R series; only a couple of dollars more (everywhere else) and they do circles around the E series. p.s. the R series (the ones i have in my honda now)? sound absolutely amazing! so clean

    Great Factory Replacement

I purchased these speakers to replace the broke factory speakers in my 1997 Ram 1500. The main reason I bought these was because they were in my price range, and they fit the 3" clearance between the window slide rail in the door. Installing them was very easy besides getting the door panel off. I tested them with rock, rap, country, dubstep music on my ipad and they seem to be very clear and crisp for having the factory stereo deck still. I think will last me a good while.

    Great for a start speaker

It was a good speaker when I first started I used the it as bass/sub before I got my subs. It hit hard for 6 by 9 people thought I had a sub in my car. Then I got my two 15 inch subs , so I turned down the bass on the 6 by 9s . And next morning I come outside and start my car and start playing music and it sounded funny . I pulled over and popped my trunk and yep the magnet was on the ground
