    Carplay is disappointing

I was initially impressed with this unit. However, after driving away after installation I noticed problems. For example, audio quality when using Carplay is very muffled. My OEM stereo sounded better.

    Teenager radio

The radio performs as described. I should’ve opted for an upgraded version of a touch screen head unit. It’s a great product for the price but if you looking for more bang spend a little extra and get what you want.

Call quality on Android Auto is Terrible

Call quality thru wired connection for android auto has been an issue since it has been released and Alpine still has not fixed it. Rest of head unit seems to work well, but if you are using it for Android Auto go somewhere else. Wish I would have seen this before purchasing as i am now stuck with something I have to unplug so it defaults to bluetooth to make the call intelligible.

Too buggy on Android Auto and Apple

Bought this unit to use Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Both are so buggy their unusable. Constantly disconnecting and messages that say the device is not compatible. I waited too long to install it and missed my Best Buy return window. I'm 100% certain Best Buy would have taken care of me. I really expected more from Alpine. I'd spend a few more $$ and get a better unit.

I replaced the factory stereo in my 2012 Scion tC. The factory unit had a decent sound and good bass, no issues other than not being more up to date with technology. I purchased the Alpine ilx-650 and there is absolutely no bass no matter what settings I try to adjust. It sounds worse than it did before I took the factory unit out. On top of that the unit does NOT like CarPlay at all. Constantly glitching, the unit down completely shutting down and rebooting, or freezing for long amounts of time. Piece of junk.

The product is good but installation was sloppy. The USB connector is sitting on my passenger floorboard. They unfortunately couldn’t install my subwoofer.

I'm only giving this a 1 star because, i bought this and had them install it. Right after they installed it it started to disconnect repeatedly. I tried different cables and still nothing. I went back and the installer plugged his cord in to it and as soon as it came on he said it's your cord. I've since called alpine directly and they are shipping me a new one. So alpine gets 5 stars on this one from me.

Purchased via Best Buy and had it installed by Gig Squad. The installation service was outstanding. The headache started later. The hand break security lock is terrible hassle. Connecting the phone via bluetooth was ok. Android Auto only via USB. The microphone issues were all the time. It never worked. After firmware update it stopped recognizing my phone. Stay away!!!!

Great radio for the price (has some issues)

It's a great little radio that has a built in amplifier with the option of being installed along side with the KTA-450 by Alpine. Honestly, the built in amp alone is powerful enough for me and I may upgrade my stock oem speakers as recommended and replace them with Alpine Speakers. Also I see some people may say you need to buy a amplifier with is and I wanna say NO YOU DON'T (or maybe not in everyone's case) I installed my Alpine-iLX-W650 in my 2014 Nissan Rogue S. I love how shallow this radio unit is as well as it's so shallow it makes adding the option of adding a Amp like the KTA-450 to the back and still having room in your dash to tuck wires back behind your radio unit easy. Here's my overall rating 4.5 out of 5 My pros and cons about this unit are - Pros: Easy to install Shallow Touch screen Easy to use Easy to setup Sirius Xm seatalite Radio capability Quality Hands free features like Google Assistant Can work with CarPlay and Android Auto Cons: Requires being hooked to a parking brake to access full settings (Can be bypassed, but not recommended.) You will need to phurchase a wiring harness so the radio unit will fit your stock oem connectors inside of your vehicle (For $300.00 it should come with the required harness.) If you have a stock oem backup/front camera on your vehicle, you will likely need a harness adapter for those to be connected as well. (Same goes for steering wheel controls etc...) You may need to Purchase a dash kit for your vehicle Besides those few things above its pretty simple to install and easy to use and looks and sounds great! For everything you need visit Crutchfield.com and it'll show you what installation parts you will need for installing this radio unit or anything else you may need.

Have tried numerous different cords to connect directly to the unit. It doesn’t work. Had it installed right before the pandemic! As soon as it is available will be having it removed as it doesn’t work as it is supposed to.
