I installed it in a Tacoma extra cab under passenger seat. Fits well and is out of sight. First off you have to realize the difference from this low profile eight inch sub from standard sub woffers. For its size it packs a punch and am very pleased with it. The price is steep but for the compact size and simplicity of installation of and all in one (subwoofer, amplifier and box) it's not so much if you were to buy all three components separately. Now, dont expect to bump Bass Mechanic and compare it to 3 W7's running at 2500 watts rms. This sub plays perfect giving you bass to regular song as Muse. The only thing i don't like much is the bass knob. It doesnits job but you have to turn it almost all the way down before it actuates and reduces the bass. From 100% it functions best between 0 and 30%. One other factor to consider is the vehicle size and location. Overall this is a great little sub. I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve yet to hear a Kicker Hideaway, but multiple installers have told me my Alpine sounds much better and every shop dislikes the Kicker model. Four seperate car audio shops and three carry Kicker. I think all the mini amplified subs are prone to failure, so I recommend adding the warranty. The Alpine gives a clean clear thump for added bass to give a full sound experience. It’ll rattle your mirrors, but you’re not going to hear it outside the vehicle. You need a bigger enclosure with a deeper depth sub for that. The Alpine is tiny and easy to find a place to install. It provides impressive bass for it’s size.

Boom boom bass is all you hear if you purchase this PWE-S8 system that comes with both woofer and amplifier in one single stylish and conveniently sized box that comes from Alpine. I know this because I have it inside my car, in the back middle seat facing the front of the car. My original wiring was for a 12" Hertz subwoofer that was located in my trunk of my car. So maybe that has something to do with its tremendous punch which, for an 8" to SOUND similar to a bigger unit is all you need to know and to appreciate its authenticity, durability, and most importantly versatility. This system uses its own bass nob module that you can place anywhere virtually, and let's you choose your own bass gain.

As far as the unit itself, i wasn’t impressed. I thought i would be able to hear and feel SOME bass, as many of the reviews stated this was a pretty loud speaker. It wasnt for me unfortunately. I took it back within a few weeks. It was, however, compact and did indeed take up little to no soace, but it didnt produce as i was hoping. Geek squad was great to work with through out all of this.

Rating: 4/5
The Alpine 8" Powered Subwoofer System delivers a powerful audio punch in a compact and stylish package, enhancing the sound quality of any vehicle audio system. As a music enthusiast always seeking to elevate my listening experience on the road, I found this subwoofer system to be a significant upgrade to my car audio setup.
First and foremost, the compact design of this powered subwoofer makes it a breeze to install, even in vehicles with limited space. Its sleek black exterior seamlessly blends with the interior of my car, adding a touch of sophistication while occupying minimal trunk space.
Despite its compact size, the Alpine subwoofer packs a punch when it comes to bass performance. The 8-inch subwoofer delivers deep, rich bass tones that complement a wide range of music genres, from hip-hop to rock, adding depth and dimension to the audio playback.
The built-in amplifier is a standout feature of this subwoofer system, providing ample power to drive the subwoofer without the need for an external amplifier. This simplifies the installation process and ensures optimal performance without the hassle of additional wiring.
Another highlight of the Alpine subwoofer system is its versatility. With adjustable controls for gain, phase, and low-pass crossover, users can fine-tune the audio output to suit their preferences and vehicle acoustics. Whether I'm looking for thunderous bass or a more subtle enhancement to my music, this subwoofer system delivers.
While the Alpine 8" Powered Subwoofer System excels in many aspects, there are a few drawbacks worth noting. Firstly, some users may find the bass response to be slightly overpowering at higher volumes, potentially overshadowing the midrange frequencies. Additionally, the lack of a remote control for adjusting settings on the fly may inconvenience some users who prefer to make quick adjustments without reaching into the trunk.
In conclusion, the Alpine 8" Powered Subwoofer System offers a compelling combination of compact design, powerful bass performance, and versatile controls, making it an excellent addition to any vehicle audio system. While it may not suit audiophiles seeking audiophile-grade sound reproduction, its affordability, ease of installation, and impressive bass response make it a worthy investment for casual music enthusiasts looking to enhance their on-the-go listening experience.

Bought for a 1965 chevy c20 sounds great perfect for the space and the price is well worth it. This was not my first choice but am glad I got it and it all worked out. I installed the unit myself and it was very easy.

This is for those that don't wish to sacrifice sound quality and power for space. You get the quality of Alpine with the size a bit larger than the factory 6.5" Subaru Outback underseat powered subwoofer. This is a 120W RMS setup, and it's good on my HU all the way up to 40, LPF set to 60Hz for tuning, and all EQ disabled or set to 0, and it jars my car, and I still have the space to haul things for work or recreation. Mounted in the back hatch area, instead of under the seat, due to wanting a fuller sound. My car's cabin space basically acts as a bandpass enclosure for this thing to really hit hard and shake my glasses on my face.

This powered subwoofer is great. It is easy to wire, and the quality of the unit is what you expect from Alpine. Although it produces a lot of bass from a small package, it doesn't really hit the lower frequencies as well as a ported box does. If you don't have the room for a box then this is really your only alternative to add low end bass to round out a less than desirable factory sound system. For what it's worth, this sub also works great in a hatchback as well (I installed mine in an area next to the spare tire).

I was looking for a sub for my Jeep, space was important. I was willing sacrifice sound but was very surprised with bass that this delivered. I don’t listen to much rap so younger folks might be a little more critical and expect more boom. This makes my classic rock, country and R&B sound well balanced.

In 2013, I replaced the factory radio in my 2008 Toyota Matrix with an Alpine INE-S920HD In-Dash GPS Navigation Receiver, 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A1675R 3-Way Speakers, and an Alpine KTP-445U Head Unit Power Pack. Initially, I was very pleased with this setup. All I wanted to do was to overcome the noise of driving with the windows down and play the music I love. While working for Best Buy in 2017-2018, I noticed how many of my fellow Blue Shirts had subwoofers in their cars. Not wanting to be behind the times but also not wanting to break the bank on a sub-amp combination, I added this Alpine Powered Subwoofer System to my existing configuration. What a difference! Now the door speakers aren't carrying the same load to produce bass and sound better now that their bass response has been rolled off. Could I graduate to a stronger output amp for the speakers? Yeah, I could, but it would start an endless upgrade process and I'm not made of money. This is my final add-on... until I get another car but that's another story.

Excellent all in one compact solution. I wired this in overnight under the driver seat in my Civic. If you are wondering if it's enough bass, let me assure you, this thing is PRECISE and CLEAR and it can thump. It's not going to have the potential of a standalone with dedicated amp, BUT this has such clarity and depth, doesn't break the bank, and only takes up space that is already unused, it's my recommendation.
It includes a bass knob with sticky Velcro, and mounting bracket. I just ran zipties through so that it's stationary from the high friction floor mats and easily removable if deemed necessary.
At 50% capacity, it's still overwhelming in some music, and to someone who really appreciates the balance, I see absolutely no reason why this wouldn't work for everyone that doesn't want to flex on the neighbors with their groundshaker. This is beyond "good enough" and exceeds my expectations.

If your looking for something that can be heard down the street then look elsewhere. This unit is exactly what I needed for my wifes 2007 4 door jeep wrangler. I mounted it under the passenger seat and it gives the jeep sterio system that low end its always been missing without taking up any usable space. It doesnt compete with sub and box set ups but since the jeep is open this works great.

I was a little spectacle at first being that a subwoofer should have some size to the enclosure to be effective. However, this subwoofer really surprised me. I installed this into my 2012 Ford Focus and was very easy and due to the compact size, still left me with plenty of trunk space. I also used this in my Travel Trailer to boost the bass. Here is where the unit really shined. The subwoofer fills the air with good clean bass and performs well.

This sub has a great base to it for it's size. It is especially great for metal heads if you don't necessarily want your windows flexing. Its great for its price and size. The only downside, which is not a huge deal, is the cables it comes with are not long enough. You will need to buy a power cable and rca cable.

Older purchaser, not looking for earth-shaking 12-in subs like I would have in my teens and twenties. Really adds a great sound when mounted inside the cabin of my 1975 Hurst Olds and fills in what was missing from my 6x9s while still letting me enjoy the sounds of the Flowmaster exhaust rumble. Very easy to install.
