I got this after looking for easy options to connect my phone to the car via bluetooth since my 2009 Honda doesn't have bluetooth capability. Prior to this, I was using an Aux cable that worked well until the cable developed a short and then would only play on speakers on one side of the car. I wanted to eliminate the cable so I looked at bluetooth receiver options and happened to stumble across this Echo Auto while browsing in the store. The cost of this device isn't that much more than the better bluetooth adapter options so I decided to give this a try. I'm glad I did because this device hasn't disappointed. Even when playing music loud, the device can hear me when I give a voice command. The vent stand that comes with the device would work fine but I didn't want mine blocking the vent so I attached a magnet to the dashboard under my steering wheel so it would be out of the way and so the 2 cables wouldn't be as noticeable. Playing games with Alexa via this device helps pass the time while driving around town when I'm not in the mood for listening to music and I really enjoy asking what happened this day in history and getting to learn something while I'm otherwise occupied. Now I want one in our other car that has bluetooth capability just to bring Alexa along. The only minor issue I have is that when I'm trying to give a command right after leaving the house it takes a short drive before my phone drops my home wifi connection and shifts to a cellular connection. But this really is a very minor issue and is more of a problem for the phone than it is for the Echo Auto.

Works very good, but the drop in function doesn't seem to work. I've tried many times to make a drop in on my other echo devices, but all failed to work. It does not auto connect and sometimes loses connection while using it on the road. Otherwise, it works very much like the home echo version. It's worth the price if it's on sale, I would not buy it at regular price.

I have not played with all of the functions so... The ones I have used such as voice commands while the music is playing seems to work pretty fine. It's like talking to Alexa at home except I know the weather while I am in my car. This thing is small and convenient and works great. Only issue, it doesn't seem to like my sons phone - don't know what kind he has other than android.

A niche product for a niche audience. I am a part of that audience. Old cars don't have all the fancy new lights and cameras of the new cars, and old cars don't have microphones or Bluetooth tech in them. I bought this to add life to my car as I already had a smartphone, and with a simple plug and play style of installation, I got my car a fully functional Alexa. The necessary component to this microphone wafer is your phone, and it can be in your pocket, your bag, or fallen between the seat and the door. The only problem? Alexa can get dumb, and I mean really dumb. She can listen to one instruction for one second, but if you did something on your phone to change directions, she will have no idea how to pause your music or anything until you restart your apps. I think this is only a few patches away from being fixed in the Alexa app (a requirement to use the device), but for the time being she is a fancy tool with a pea brain. It's a good device that only messes up when you let Jesus take the wheel. P.S. Wait for a sale.

Excellent Device for keeping you and your family informed ,entertained and safe while on the road. Really was surprised that this works so well with my Phone and car stereo system I can make a call, use Alexa to get weather information, general trivia and can even play games. can also play my music from connected apps, and I can hide it in the glove box or take it with me and use it in another car. not really all that difficult to setup either

This was a surprisingly small echo product that I had ever used, even much smaller and light-weight than echo dot. All the heavy-lifting is done by your smartphone, but its a nice voice-assistant conduit for the same. I had a bit of a hiccup initially due to the internet connectivity issue, which I found that a lot of users had with this device. Just couldn't get it to work, and the troubleshooting offered online wasn't helpful as well. However, I coincidentally had to factory reset my phone, and reinstall the Alexa app on my Pixel 4a. To my surprise, the Echo Auto started working seamlessly after that! No clue what happened there. Once it started, its a good voice assistant, as it can hear you clearly even while music is being played. I mainly use it for daily weather, news, music and calling. No issues so far.

Adding Alexa Auto to the car makes driving a little easier, fun and safer. It gives me voice control which is better then the voice control built into the car. Lets me now access some apps on my phone which I didn't have access to previously and allows me to use Alexa to access my home systems and automated routines all hands free. It is compact and easy to install and the sale price made it a great bargain.

For the most part, this works really well. My car doesn’t have Bluetooth so this makes making phone calls in the car easy. I do have to talk fairly loud for people to hear me and I have had a couple of issues with it disconnecting from my phone. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked.

I am an avid user of these Alexa products but did not see the benefit of a version for a vehicle. I truck had all of the features I needed. I recently purchased a fully loaded from the factory (previous one was all after market) truck and it did not have BT audio even though it had phone connectivity. I found myself missing BT audio more than I thought. I tried a couple of products and reluctantly tried this one. It gave me BT audio and more. There are a few drawbacks for me but those are out weighed by the benefits. One that I would like to see changed on the next version is its own speaker for Alexa responses. At present your stereo has to be tuned to the correct input for all audio from Alexa. If I just want to ask a simple question or quick request I will not hear anything unless my stereo is on AUX. I think Alexa should be heard through it’s own speaker and any music, podcasts, Audibles, etc could then come from the BT or AUX connection. This way if I am listening to FM or XM I could still uses Alexa.

I’ve had this for a month and then it stopped working. Up till then it was great. Some connectivity issues but that can be user error. Then it stopped working. It says it was connected to my phone but it wasn’t. Amazon sent me a new one. I did see that iPhone was having issues with third party car apps. So I’m going to see if the old one reconnects. You’ll be limited to songs if you don’t have Amazon Music. It’ll recommend stations and I found a great one that I constantly listen to. When I first got it, it worked for my 7 hour car ride through mountains and even through the 2 tunnels. But then it stopped connecting. I’ll see if my phone update changes that.

Amazon Echo - great to have

I bought Amazon Echo's for my girls and myself and overall love it. I like that I can easily tell Alexa what to play and she plays it. I also am able to make calls using my Echo and get directions. My girls like that they can play games with her on long road trips. My reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 star is due to the fact that the cords are annoying. You clip the Echo into your vents and then the cords hang down. If this could be improved that would be great (maybe shorter cords). I thought about putting it under my cup holder but haven't tried that yet. The other thing that I didn't like is, when you ask for directions it uses your phone except it doesn't read the directions out loud - you just get a ding so you know you need to do something. This requires you to have to then look at your phone to see where to go. I have been told this is probably because I am using my Bluetooth on my phone for the Echo but I have no other option.

I got this for my husband for father's day We all can connect our phones depending who's using the car. It's awesome picking your music, skipping, asking questions, directions. Only thing is each time you get on you have to open your app and It has trouble connecting sometimes. Which I usually use the time my car heats up to do so. Wish it would just connect automatically but my husband doesn't fiddle with phone. I would recommend.

This thing is amazing! I bought it right before making a trip from northern NV all the way out to south GA. Hauling a heavy trailer and driving by myself I had always had to pop off the road just to redirect GPS directions, try to find the nearest diesel gas station, or find the closest bathroom. I saw this on best buys email flyer as I received a $20 gift voucher. It was on sale and figured that for $12 it was worth a shot. Drove over an hour to pick it up, took 10 minutes to set it up and ran it on the way home. Not only could I voice directions on the ride, I also made my song requests while driving the desolate desert drive home. I like it so much that I ordered one for my wife once I got back to south GA, convinced her sister and one of my daughters that they needed them too. Best part is that I let the UCONN feature expire on my truck because this covers all the features that I was using! My little $12 gadget has saved me ton of cash and I am now free to concentrate on the road ahead of me!

I purchased this for an insanely low price as part of a package deal thinking it would be something I’d try & likely sell. However, having this in the car makes it so easy to play all the music I like, pull of navigation and more while driving. It cuts down on a lot of things that would typically distract. This is another product everyone should have!!

Easy setup and installation. Although it doesn’t seem to connect all the time it is nice having Alexa playing through the car speakers when needed. Purchased it on sale for $20 and at that price it is well worth the money.

I recently got an Echo Dot so I loved being able to add my Echo Auto to my “Alexa collection”! It was a super easy setup & it’s really easy to use. I’m still getting used to it so I’m still trying to learn all its features. I give it 4 stars only because the vent mount it comes with could be better. Mine has fallen off the mount multiple times and the mount itself has fallen a few times too. Other than that though, the Echo Auto is awesome & I use it all the time to play music via Bluetooth & my car’s aux system since I don’t normally have the ability to play it without some kind of adapter (and the quality of the music & my phone calls is AMAZING!)
