This Amazon Echo Auto voice-assisted speaker integrates advanced Bluetooth technology that connects to Alexa on your phone and plays sound through your car speakers.
A: Mounts on air vent, but only certain ones. Gives list of compatible vents.
Q: will it provide route guidance
A: Yes, by default Echo uses google maps on an android or apple maps on an iphone. However, under settings there is a traffic section and you can change it to waze. If you have gas buddy, you can even ask 'Alexa ask gasbuddy for the nearest gas station' or 'Alexa ask gas buddy for the lowest gas price near me'. There is also an app it works with for parking, 'ParkWhiz' and I think one other, but I'm not sure. Sometimes, she doesn't understand my request and it takes a while to get it right. My dad lives on a numbered street, and what happens is it combines the house and street number. (ex. 'Alexa I would like directions to 4 7th street becomes 47th street.) So in that case, I have to drop the house number. You can ask things like, where is the nearest grocery store (or any other type of business). There is a way to add a stop to the navigation, however, I don't remember it right now. I use my echo for the radio tuner now. The easiest way to have a radio station is to know it's call sign. 'Alexa, I want to listen to KOSF radio'. You can also use it to open the navigation app, then issue a 'Alexa, cancel navigation' and that will leave waze (or apple/google) up. I like that for having a speed limit indicator available.
Q: How is this any better than me just asking my smart phone ask these same questions?
A: Much more intuitive you can control many more things and it work through my existing non bluetooth stereo system my aux cord connects to it very discreetly. Without aux jack would probably need to use an fm transmitter
Q: How does amazon Alexa Conect to the internet from your car?
A: It actually connects to your phone. So it uses your phone’s connection.
A: Yes, you can make calls, hands free. Bought one for my wife's vehicle and she loves it.
Q: Can you use the echo auto in your home instead of setting it up in a car?
A: I’m sure you probably could, but it uses your phones data to connect to the network and doesn’t have any speakers in the device itself.
A: This device basically uses your mobile phone to do all the work, so you will need either an aux or a bluetooth in. It doesn't have its own speakers and is completely dependent on your car stereo.
A: In my case sound is good seeing as it’s coming through my stereo...it all depends on phone coverage...I like this product a lot
