Customers are impressed with the Echo Flex Smart Speaker's ease of use, compact size, and affordability. Many appreciate its simple setup and Bluetooth connectivity, while some find the sound quality and maximum volume to be lacking. This is a compact Echo that plugs directly into the wall (no power adapter with a cord). It works fine for giving voice commands (e.g. for home automation). The speaker is quite tiny, however, so you won't want to use it for streaming music. It does have Bluetooth, if you wanted to use an external speaker for better sound. There's a USB port on the bottom that can be used for expansion kits (motion sensor, night light, etc.) but I just use it as a charger. If you already use other Echo devices, this can be handy in additional locations since it's small and inconspicuous.

Kind of a hard product to wrap your head around initially ... a plug in Echo with a very marginal speaker, but when you pair it with your favorite Bluetooth speaker it all makes sense. Now you can easily have an echo dot outside or you you can pair it with a Bluetooth sound bar. Really opens up what you can do with the echo tools. Love this item and on sale at $10, a huge bargain.

I bought this on sale for $10 and it is an excellent device. Really easy to set up in under 2 minutes. Great for simple tasks such as timers, cooking temperature guidelines and weather reports. Not a great sound but still good for radio stations and short listening still talking. Really compact so fits anywhere there is an electrical plug. I bought several more to give as gifts and everyone was positively delighted to receive them as a gift.

Who would have known you needed one in a garage until you put one in it. We got this with our Amazon Show 8 and I literally was like what are we going to do with this? We have a device in every room in the house basically except the garage. Well when you have a smart house, your door locks, garage doors, alarm, lights, you name it. Amazingly it is the perfect product, and we use it everyday. I can't believe I have become that person but I have and I don't regret it. Go get one you won't regret it and your garage will love you, or other small room, building.

Very small footprint Echo - size impacts audio

I got this for one of the primary reasons I suspect most multi-echo households will. The size. My house has a large central room that all the other rooms feed off of. We have echoes in just about every room in the house, except the central room. The main reason for that is the cords that are on the dots. I would have loved a 3G dot in this central room, but the location of all the power outlets make it visually unappealing. I'd have to run a cord to where I could put the dot, and that would just look bad. So when Amazon announced this little item, it was an automatic purchase. Now I know we don't have it for music - my office setup handles that (Two Echo 2.0's & the echo subwoofer). But my wife does not have a particularly loud voice, and when she tries to issue commands to turn on lights in other rooms, it frequently mishears her. So I wanted one for this central room, but didn't want a cord. This is perfect. The voice isn't as good as a regular speaker, but that's to be expected. But it does work as something for light conversation - or commands to turn lights on and off. One goofy thing about this, I have it on an outlet near the floor, and to that, our cats checked it out immediately upon installation. There is a skill you can do to make your device meow like a cat, and it was most enjoyable. Bottom line is - this does what it says. Adds Alexa to areas where it wasn't before via a very small footprint device. It lacks sound fidelity due to its size, but if you know that going on, and don't plan on this to be your primary music source, then you're good.

These are the tech that saved Christmas. Best Buy had these on sale for $9.99 each. They are full fledged Amazon Echo devices. I have Dots and Shows and the small tower of Alexa, but I hadn't even seen these until just before the holidays. I bought one for the house. They are great! Plug it in (no countertop or shelf space required). Get her connected to the Wi-Fi and off you go. They gave me coverage in areas that were just a little more than shouting distance from the traditional devices already in residence (the mud room, the garage, the main entrance, the alcove outside the main bathroom, etc.). There is an aux port, if you'd like a little more refinement in playback. I put a small bluetooth speaker on the one in the garage, with a little double-stick foam tape. So, as we are noodling on gifts for all of our folks, these little beauties kept coming up as a nice bit of tech for next to nothing. Excellent stocking stuffers. A personal device for an elementary school girl who uses the platform throughout the house. Perfect for the form room. Even my oldest--who fancies himself a Google devotee--found a place for his (and has since bought a couple more). Setting timers, turning on lights, converting farenheit to celsius, playing a specific tune, general answers to offbeat questions are just some of their daily workload. You can make phonecalls through them. There is a skill that lets you use them as an intercom throughout the house. I bought six more and the wife bought four. I hope they're on sale again this Christmas.

Great for what it does, certainly worth $9.95 on sale. I have two, one in my shop and one in the bedroom. Definitely lo-fi, not suitable for music but fine for giving commands to control the lights and asking questions. Handy in the shop for metric/english conversions and math problems, and I keep my phone charged with the USB port so I don't have to tie up an additional outlet.

It is very small and plugs directly into a wall socket. Easy to use in areas where a regular Dot would not fit. I have one for the basement and one in the upstairs hallway. I purchased the separate motion detector for the hallway one so that I can turn on some lights at night when I come from downstairs. Works great. The speaker is not the greatest, but works ok for listening to talk broadcasts.

Great for what it is. Don't expect good audio from this, that isn't the point. But it makes it easier to have Alexa in places you don't want a puck and a large charging brick. The USB port might seem like a gimmick, but I've attached motion sensors and use them to automate lighting schemes. You can get other USB accessories for it, too. But I don't think you can charge your phone through this. I haven't tried but I don't expect that is a function. It even has an audio out jack for plugging in powered speakers! You can easily plug this in behind your stereo, for example, and stream music to it. The microphones probably aren't as good as the pucks, but this is a small device and is best suited for smaller rooms where you just need access to tell Alexa what to do. It's great for quick updates on the news and weather in your bathroom, for example. But make sure it's protected from excess humidity. I got several of these on sale during the holidays. Given the big discount, it is easy to say I really like these for what they are. Had I paid full price, I'd still think they're good for what they're designed to be. Small, discrete, flexible.

It's a really inexpensive and convenient way to have an Amazon Alexa device in a room. The speaker is terrible but that's to be expected in a device that's as small as this. It's super convenient since it just plugs right into the wall.

It does not take up a lot of space. I have it plugged into an extension cord in my bedroom. It sounds the same as my echo. I like that it has a socket for a phone charger. .I read some reviews where it was said don't expect much in way of sound quality. It sounds great when paired with my Bose soundTouch 10 speaker. I don't hear any loss in sound quality. As long as the sound is crisp and clear with the right amount of bass, I am good. It sounds no different than any other device that I have paired to the speaker.

I bought this because of its price, size and form factor. It fills a need where the other Echo units (Dot or original "tower") aren't convenient to locate. But for me, that's where the "pros" end. It has such an anemic speaker that it's usefulness is limited. And don't even consider playing music from it without adding an external speaker. I don't have any (or plan to have any) of the add-on accessories for it, so I can't comment on that aspect. Perhaps for those use cases it's a winner? You can often get a Dot for just $10 more (when on sale), which I'd say is a much better value for most use cases.

SUPER easy to install and set up on phone. Being it's by Amazon, it Alexa App automatically detects new device and walks through sime (1-2 minute) setup. Sound quality is NOT anything close to a standard Echo, A show, or even a DOT. So, this is not for music playback, but rather aa gateway to Alexa for issuing commands. It's ok for hearing "her" speak answers to questions. I got this (multiple) for areas in areas not covered by standard Echo, a Show,or a Dot, in the house of my aging mother so that if she falls or needs help, she can call to Alexa to call family / friends for help. Thus, no need to wear / carry a pendant / clicker (or pay monthly service fees (above normal monthly internet fee).

The Amazon Flex is definitely one of the most inexpensive Alexa devices available especially when it is on sale as it was when I bought it. Obviously, when you're buying it, you're not expecting to get great sound out of it. The speaker works fine for simple queries, but I definitely recommend pairing it to a Bluetooth speaker if you're wanting to stream music, podcasts, etc. It was simple to setup as I previously had an Echo Dot that my daughter claimed. Most of the time, it is for turning on a Hue bulb in my office. I have plugged in a Fitbit to be charged via the USB-A port, and it worked fine. I gave it an excellent rating because I have had no issues with it.

This is for when you want the convenience of an Amazon Alexa voice response device and do not want or maybe even have space to place in on a table, shelf, or desk surface. While not tiny, the power jack is high enough this should allow most normal sized plugs to share space on a normal duplex wall outlet. Had space on a power bar and used that due concerns on speaker pickup and sound volume. Worked great from anywhere in the mid to large sized room it is in. Have not used it for music, the built in speaker most be tiny, but it does have audio jack output and Bluetooth to get around that limitation. Received as a gift and am happy with it so far. Used a cellphone for the initial setup.

ECHO FLEX - Small Device with Big Muscle

After reading the reviews to know what to expect, this product performs exactly as expected. Yes sound comes out of it, and it is louder than I was expecting, but do not expect Hi-Fidelity or Stereo sound. That is not what these are for. These are speakers to either back up your existing ECHO products, so you don't have to yell to Alexa across the room, or primarily to give a local command to, where you might not already have an Alexa device. I have one in the Kitchen, so I don't have to yell to the one in the Den. I have one on the Porch so I don't have to yell to the one on the other side of the porch, and I have one in the Bathroom to listen to the News or ask Alexa a question. The Echo Flex, works great with routines, as well. I use one with an Audible Clock to chime the time, one to extend my large (Living Room) room commands, and one with a motion detector that starts softly playing upbeat music while I am in the library. Another great use is a routine where one of them Chimes when my Multi-Purpose Sensor picks up someone entering the front door. GREAT little devices, and buying them at Best Buy was a simple and contact free experience.

For the size, the Echo Flex delivers the same experience and functions as the more expensive speakers (Echo, Echo Show, Echo Dot, Echo Studio, etc.). Although the speaker and sound quality leaves more to be desired, this device is great for smaller spaces or just extending your current smart home system. It is low profile (looks like a plug-in smoke/gas detector and can blend into any home style. The separate attachments (sold separately) like the motion detector is also perfect for hallways or bathrooms where you can simply walk by and have the lights turn on automatically. Overall, highly recommend this one!

I really like the way the Echo Flex smart speaker fits in places where I don't have room for the Echo Dot; just plug it in, follow the very simple activation steps and it's ready to respond. I must admit that I'm a bit disappointed in the sound quality, which is the only reason I've assigned a 4-star rating rather than a full 5. In summary, I'd say it's wonderful for providing Alexa convenience in a tight space - for voice responses and excellent news; however, for listening to music - which I enjoy so much on our other Echo devices - the sound from the Echo Flex is less full compared to that from the Echo Dot.
