A: Hi There, You do not need to have an additional Echo device for this to work! If you do, you can tie it into your multi room music set up if you have one, you can also broadcast announcements to other Echo devices from it. This device is perfect for the hard to reach spots that you wish you could have Alexa. A hallway for example where there is no table. You can optionally add a night light or motion sensor on for added productivity. The bottom of this device also has a USB port to charge devices. Have a great day!!
A: Yes, but the audio quality is not as good as other echo speakers. You can connect it to a better speaker if you want better sound.
Q: Is this item similar to an Amazon Alexa, except much smaller? Does it have a USB drive?
A: This Is a compact version of the regular echo devices. It does have a USB connector.
Q: Is this a portable bluetooth speaker?
A: It is not portable, you need to plug it into a wall socket.
A: Normally, it's independent. However, if you create a GROUP let's say "upstairs" you can do it. Just say "play iheart radio on upstairs". Then the music plays simultaneously on all units in that group. Works great.

A: If you have a dimmable smart bulb that can be controlled with Alexa then yes.
