Know what you're paying for before buying

If you know what you're getting into, these things aren't so bad. Don't expect any audio fidelity, as these aren't designed for that. People who are giving a low rating because "the sound sucks" are comparing apples to oranges. These things are meant to plug into an outlet, tucked away. They're not meant for audio playback. Yes, the sounds sucks. It sounds like bees in a tin can. But then again, the Flex is mainly use to control your smart home and the occasional voice responses (time, weather, sport scores). If you're buying a Flex and expecting an Echo Dot sound quality, you're going to be disappointed. That's like ordering from McDonald's and expecting gourmet quality burgers. Having said that these things are average at what they do. The lone microphone is not enough to pick up your voice. If you're not facing the unit head-on, most of the times it won't pick up your voice command. There are many times I had to repeat my voice command for the unit to pick up. It also seems a little slow to process compare to the Echo Dot. These are great for turning your lights on/off and getting quick snippets of info (time, weather, etc.) The design is space-saving and discreet. You're trading that for sound quality. For the accessories (LED light and motion sensor plug-ins) I don't think that they worth the extra cost. Unless there are plans for more accessories in the future, that function is more or less gimmicky. I wouldn't pay full price ($25) for this. I paid $17 and am still kicking myself as they are now $10 since Black Friday. For $10, they're worth having a couple around the house (bathroom, garage, hallway) to have access to Alexa to control your smart home. Don't get them for music, you'll be sorely disappointed.

This is a great portable product. Just hook it up to the Alexa app and plug it in anywhere in your house where Alexa is absent. It’s definitely not as loud as the echo dots but it’s loud enough for a question and answer session. I use it in my garage or basement where there is no Alexa. I got this on sale about a month ago for 9.99. Great product that I will also be taking on vacation. Whenever that may be.

Set up was easy with my Amazon Fire HD8. Also, I quickly linked with Sengled LED light bulb in entry hall to my garage. Convenient for turning on the light when hands are full of groceries or other items. Will be purchasing a night light attachment for a second Echo Flex in my bathroom so don't have to hunt in the dark for light switch. Sound is fine for listening to the news or asking for day's weather forecast. Not good for music, but the Echo Dot I have in home office which is fine for music.

Alexa is my little friend in the bathroom. Mainly use in the morning when getting ready for work. Use it as my radio & my timer to turn off at a certain time which reminds me to get going. Will ask her weather for the day. Its compact, was having trouble trying to plug in my dryer when this was plugged but flipped it upside down so no issues now. Only thing is the sound quality. I have a small bathroom so works fine but it can be a bit static "y" is that a word? Got on sale so was a great deal.

I bought the Amazon Echo Flex for a Bluetooth adapter for my home audio system that doesn't have Bluetooth. This worked out perfectly for what I wanted! I wanted something that can plug into the wall with no wireless and and I wanted something with Alexa functionality and this is what I need. Now yes, this echo flex has built in speakers but they sound horrible but if you want a Bluetooth adapter with Alexa, this is perfect or this would be perfect for a small place like a travel trailer.

I absolutely love this device. It is small and sometimes I forget it’s there. To be clear, I do not use my echos for music playback. I connect to a Bluetooth speaker for my music. This device is NOT good for music playback. This device is excellent if you need a space saver and want all of the features of a voice assistant. I highly recommend this product. On sale this thing can go down to $10 per unit and it is a no-brainer at that price.

Alexa, why can't you hear me?

I bought three of these with the intent of putting them in the bathrooms and linking them to a small bluetooth speaker for news and music while showering etc. I like the compact size and no wires, perfect for a bathroom outlet. As expected, the internal device speaker is garbage, comparable to a cellphone speaker, no surprise there. Fortunately, decent sounding Bluetooth speakers are inexpensive and plentiful. The reason for the 3 star rating is that the thing can't hear me. I have Echo Dots and an Echo Show 5 placed in various rooms of the house. None of them have difficulty hearing the "wake word" from across the room in a normal speaking voice. For some reason the Echo Flex just doesn't hear me unless I either yell at it or speak to it from inches away. At that point, where is the advantage of voice control? So it's a cool little gadget that serves a purpose, but it needs definite improvement in the audio department.

Got this for $10 while waiting for my b/o Echo Dot. This is a good way to get started with smart devices without spending a lot of money. Also doubles as a charging plug, or you can get one of a few available plug-in accessories. Would be nice if the accessories were stackable or at least offered a USB port on them so you didn't lose the charging capability. Guess that would be too smart. Don't expect a lot of sound from the speaker, but you can pair a Bluetooth speaker.

I like this device over the dots because you don't need to have a power cord or table shelf space. It works great just like all other echo devices, easy set up, just plug it in and go to the Amazon app and add device. I have not tried the motion detector or light add ons yet but will be testing them soon. Cons: volume is terrible and sounds very cheap compared to any other echo device. Overall I would recommend this for a hallway or to fill in between other echo devices you have already.

This is a great way to keep close to Alexa and make every single spot smarter. The sound quality isn't great but for notifications and ask questions to Alexa is good enough. I even listen to some music there from time to time (no great sound quality though, but good enough). You can add a motion sensor and generate some routines in the Alexa app that are triggered when motion or no motion is detected. I am happy with this product.

Just what we needed to make our smartphone even better. We bought one for the bathroom, and one for the kitchen. Now we no longer need to yell from those rooms to find our quick information about traffic, temperature, etc. Great price. Please be advised that the speaker is not even close to the quality of our dots, spot, or echos, but this device is not meant to be. Think of this device for ease, the others for quality.

We've had it for almost a year and it is still an amazing buy. Perfect for the kitchen (especially small ones that have limited counter space). We love being able to easy move it to a different room for music during house projects or cleaning. No wires getting in the way and even has a USB so I can basically charge my phone without needing to find another outlet.

As expected (but I knew ahead of time), this is a great little Echo Device for hard to place Echo Dot areas of your home, even if it has a lousy speaker and not great mics. I just hooked it up to a Bluetooth Speaker and it works as good as an Echo Dot except you seem to need to talk somewhat louder to it. I couldn't beat the $10 price so got 3 but had some deals like Best Buy Rewards Bonus Certificates & a Free Gift Card.

Inexpensive (but useful) version of Alexa device. I use it for turning on/off the lights, settings timers and asking for weather forecast. Sound quality is OK, but it is fine for such tiny device. So I'm totally happy with the functionality/price of it. Note: it may not connect to Alexa cloud from some Android phones, I tried one phone and failed, other phone helped to set up the device though.

The speaker quality on this thing is pretty sad, but you should already know that. The best use cases for this is for places like bathrooms, guest bedrooms, or kitchen - basically places where you want to listen to the news instead of songs on your play list. The nice thing about this is that you can add one attachment like a night light, motion sensor, or a clock. These attachments are sold on Amazon for about 15 bucks.

Flex is a nice smart speaker, just plug it into and outlet any where in the house in addition to you other echo devices. Speakers not that great for music but to talk it’s fine. It has a USB port that u cans charge your phones or have power to your other devices. Amazon also has an nite lite and motion detector For around 15.00 each. I’ve got three that I can use in the basement, garage, etc.

I picked this up to use outside for my garage door (it still asks for a password for the door and garage). I have it attached out of the way of sight and weather. So far, so good. Much studied than I expected. I have Dots in all my bathrooms, but they required cases so they would stick to the plug--this would have solved all that. The price was incredible--I just ordered another one.

This echo flex speaker does not have very good sound quality. It is very small and easy to hide. This device is not meant for sound quality but it helps when configuring your smart devices. Very easy to set up and use. Has been know to start talking for no reason when it hears your voice. This has only happened 1 time.

Great way to get an introduction into smart speakers. Get it while it is on sale, and either way you go, you are not in it for too much money. This is NOT the model for listening to music, way too tinny, but provides all the other smart speaker functions you would want. Also a great idea if you want a smart speaker at a remote location (i.e. office).
