    Good Sounding Alexa Enabled Speaker

Amazon has a new Alexa enabled device, the Echo Pop. This is a smart speaker that features good sound and is Alexa enabled. The speaker itself is straight forward. It has a light bar on top of it to indicate various statuses as well as 3 buttons. The three buttons are for increasing volume, decreasing volume, and muting the mic. You setup the Pop by way of the Alexa app. When setting this up, I didn't run into any problems as Amazon has made it very simple and easy to do. Since it is Alexa enabled, you can set alarms, routines, etc. to work with the Pop. I found the audio to be a little hot on the base, but overall has a rich clear sound output. The only downside I've found so far is that it doesn't use the more common USB power cable. Instead, it uses a cable that has a barrel connector on one end and a power block built into the other end. It would be good to see Amazon change this in a future version to be a USB-C PD powered speaker. If you are looking for a smart speaker that is Alexa enabled, then consider the Echo Pop. I don't think you'll go wrong with this if you don't need anything more than a good speaker with Alexa capabilities.

I love this little thing. I have smart bulbs, so I control the lights with alexa. It works as described. Sounds pretty good…fills my tiny studio apartment. Very easy to set up.

Buy it, but certainly not an upgrade.

The Echo pop is certainly adequate smart speaker. I have owned many of Amazon Echo models through the various generations. Always been a fan and this new model is no different. It produces great sound and responsive to voice commands. Like all other units in the past, The echo continues display a small light on top to help you the status of the connection or if you have any notifications. Sound quality compared the previous models is negligible. It is however a newer style than previous Dot models which has gone through small hockey puck looking design to a round ball of various sizes Would I go out to buy this model just to replace an older model? Probably not. But for any newcomer coming into the Echo speakers, I wouldn’t hesitate with this one either. However I do find that the older Dot generation with a clock is a better option personally. Especially if the echo is in a room without a clock near by. So buy it if you need a new speaker or if you like the half done style. but don’t consider it as an “upgrade” to previous dot models.

The Amazon - Echo Pop (1st Generation) Smart Speaker with Alexa – Charcoal at first gave me a headache to get up and fully running, with my Samsung Galaxy S9 phone. I was able to complete all of the required tasks, except the final connection to the Wi-Fi network. I kept receiving the message to press the up and down volume buttons until the light turns orange and the Amazon - Echo Pop (1st Generation) Smart Speaker with Alexa – Charcoal will return to its initial setup mode and attempt to connect to the internet. I found myself in a loop of repeatedly rebooting and attempting to connect to Wi-Fi. I decided to contact customer service, but it was late at night so I decided to call later the next day. The next day, before contacting customer service, I thought about using my other phone to see if that would make a difference. After install the Alexa app again, on my other phone, a Motorola, I started the connection process instructions in the app all the way to completion. I heard Alexa say, “Your Echo Pop is connected.” Alexa immediately began to speak to me with questions and commands to sync my voice. After syncing my voice, I could ask questions and give commands through the Echo Pop. Alexa informed me that my TV could be connected to my Echo Pop for command functions. Turning on my televisions Bluetooth allowed the connection and gave me the ability to change channels and play apps with voice commands. The Alexa app on my phone also gives me some control over functions. I was able to control volume and pause the screen with the app. The Amazon - Echo Pop (1st Generation) Smart Speaker with Alexa – Charcoal is small in its size, but is big in its many features.

Great Echo device with odd shape!

I used this Echo Pop to replace my Echo Dot (gen 3) in my bathroom. Honestly, the Echo Pop has a much more vivid sound to it then what I replaced it with. It has a queer, more crisp sound to it, so it also seems to sound louder as well. The only thing I find odd about it is the shape. Maybe because it’s so different, and unique from what I am used to. Perhaps I will get used to it in time. I think it would be worth making the adjustment for the benefits this little guy can do.

Got this as a freebie with my Tv purchase. I was not expecting much... yet this is a surprisingly strong little speaker, which adds another aspect of control to my television. Very impressive, definitely recommending that you download the app if you want to fully utilize this device. Makes it super easy to order stuff on Amazon.

Really love this item as an added smart home device to add to my room. I connected it to a smart home lightbulb that I set on a timer to wake me up in the morning. Saved me from having to buy a hatch alarm clock.

The Echo Pop from Amazon is the newest version of smart devices from Amazon. The look is a bit different as you can see in my attached photo. It is a half sphere that nestless on a flat base. It has an angular flat face and a pretty cool modern look. The speaker is not that great. It lacks quality bass and seems inferior. It may be ample in a small room but in a larger room it is truly lacking. The speaker is only on the front of the device and that seems to be the thing that limits the sound quality. That is very unfortunate. I also think that it is sometimes 'slow to hear' and not as responsive as it should be. It is powered by a cord that plugs into any receptacle. The unit operates on command and the setup worked easily through the Amazon Alexa App. I did notice that some of the things that it doesn't do is operate my smart thermostat and it doesn't have a motion sensor which allows you to automatically turn on lights and such when it senses that you are home. I guess those features were not part of this build. Seems short sighted to me and something that should be a part of the product. Overall, it is ok. Just know its limitations. If you want basic sound not able to carry far and are willing to lose a feature or two then Echo Pop is a decent buy.
