I finally fell down the Amazon/Echo rabbit hole

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ever since their launch, I'd been hesitant to purchase any sort of home digital assistant product whether it was made by Amazon, Apple, or Google as I didn't want a device that was always "ON" and listening for a verbal command. Well, after years of not being interested in the any such product, I decided to dip my toe in the water and purchase an Amazon Echo Show 5. I didn't buy it so I could ask Alexa for help with any tasks but more so for the digital picture frame, clock, calendar, outside temperature reading features in a compact form that could sit above my computer keyboard. I found out that I can wake up my Echo Show to help me with a task but, unless I use the customizable wake up word, that my Echo Show is perfectly happy to ignore any sounds it may otherwise hear in the background. While I don't think I'll be expanding my usage of Amazon Alexa products anytime soon, my Echo Show 5 does everything that I wanted it to and was priced reasonably when I picked one up at Best Buy on sale.

Not only can the alarms on it be customized to play literally anything but I can call my kids on it at any time. I can also use the video feature to check in on my pets.

Love my Echo!

Very cool piece of tech right here. I love the features Alexa offers, the ease of recipes, timers, reminders, and even shopping lists. I love being able to arm and disarm my Ring security system or view my cameras via my Echo. Highly recommend!
