I'm sorry to hear the microphone responsiveness isn't meeting your expectations compared to your Echo Dot. Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help: ensure your Echo Spot has a strong internet connection, restart the device by unplugging it for 30 seconds, check that the microphone isn't muted, ensure the device isn't near sources of interference like TVs or speakers, and try retraining Alexa to recognize your voice through the Alexa app under Settings > Your Profile > Voice. These do occasionally go on the shopping holiday season sale list, so that definitely contributes, but so easy to use, and aesthetically the best Amazon products I now own. Have switched out some of my Google speakers with these Echo Spots, as the clock feature is a value add and highly sought by me.
