Would like a faster drive - purchased for a bigger screen to view two areas at a time and it works for the reason of the purchase

I've had problems with this iMac. It's very slow, and has been "in the shop" twice. There is a hardware issue with it that can't be fixed at Best Buy. The Geek Squad has tuned it up a bit, but actually recommended that I get a new one. I've only had it for two years!

I may have gotten a lemon; otherwise I can't explain the great reviews. This computer is sloooooooow. I'm not talking about running complex apps or programs. I may be running excel and browsing the web and this computer gets so confused and it takes forever to get your simple work done. I wanted to be able to run simple photo editing software (I am not a professional) but that is not going to happen. I called Apple support and after one hour of troubleshooting and speaking to 3 different people, all they said was, "Yeah, you just got a slow one. The i3 is not the best performer." Seriously?? What am I supposed to do with this large, overpriced "TV screen" now? It has been back in the box for the last 7 months since we moved and I had no reason to unpack it just to stare at the screen and wait for it to make up its "mind."

Something was wrong with this computer from the first start.I could never really point my finger on it, but it just did not behave like an iMac. Eventually I had to take it to the Geek Squad. This did not help. I had to ask for my money back. I did buy an iMac, but it was than from a completely different retailer.

Biggest piece of junk computer I have owned. My wife's $350 Window's base computer is about 20X faster than this one. Takes 5 minutes to start-up, about 25 seconds to open a Word document. It is so slow I will click on an icon twice thinking I must not have clicked on it the first time. I get the spinning ball on just about every click. Does not have a SSD which is apparently the issue. According to the internet, this is a common problem. I am very disappointed in Apple for selling it and Best Buy for not warning me when I was deciding at the time. Their Geek Squad looked at it and it came back the same speed as when I gave it to them. Their comment "Computer is running slower than expected likely because of iMac having a hard drive instead of solid state drive".

The computer is okay for school not meant for downloading big applications

Very disappointed with this purchase. Was hoping it would be decent for the price but it was just too slow. Had it returned and bought the 27inch iMac for 1799.

As a graphic designer this computer is extremely slow every now and then but when it’s good it’s good.

for what it is its extremely slow bought imac for daughters school and its like I'm dealing with a 1997 computer u click Microsoft word and it takes 5 mins to open we do not download anything this brand its just the hype of having an apple product really

This is the worst apple product I have ever purchased. The display is great but the system is super unresponsive. Apps are frequently non-responsive and it takes forever to open an app. The price is low but would recommend a better model.

I have switched from PC to Apple and having difficulty making it work. Can you recommend a source of instruction?

I like the look but speed is slow. I really wanted a fast computer. Dissatisfied about the speed.

With all the new technology, I assumed this "latest model" would be faster than my old Mac, which is about 10 yrs old with an Intel Core i5 and has it's last update possible. Well, it is no faster and at times it is slower and takes forever to boot up. Very disappointed'

Slow as molasses. It’s old hardware on something that looks modern. I regret my purchase.

I bought this iMac in October of 2020. It has been the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had with any kind of computer. I had high expectations and was let down by its forever slow performance as it takes minutes to do basic things such as populating the desktop screen or opening up a simple program. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with AppleCare to trouble shoot but to no avail. I regret not reading reviews prior to dropping over 1300 dollars for a subpar product that frustrates me to to end. I’ve watched paint dry faster than this computer.

Disappointed with the speed of the machine. Should have gone with the intel i5 instead.

Overall, this is a lousy computer. My 9 year old desktop iMac fatally crashed, and it was faster than this one. Countless hours have been spent with AppleCare trying to get someone to admit it's a lemon--it has to "think" as long as a minute sometimes when doing something as simple as using a pull-down menu. SLOW SLOW SLOW. If Apple keeps insisting this isn't a lemon (already dropped it off at Apple store for a diagnostic) then this model is a piece of junk and should be avoided. If Apple wants its customers to spend more, it should just have a higher price point model instead of selling something that is still very expensive and yet doesn't work efficiently.
