    Better, but not great.

I bought these as a preorder and well… Getting them setup in the home app was easy once my phone was updated. Setting them up as a pair was fairly smooth too. That’s where the issues begin. Even though the speakers were setup as a stereo pair, my Apple TV 4K refused to set them as a default audio for the device. After rebooting the device I was notified that they needed to be updated to 16.3, so why is apple shipping these things with an incompatible OS? Even after updating though, I still had to fight with them to be able to use them with my Apple TV. I even tried resetting the Apple TV, but that didn’t even fix the issue. Anyway, after about 2 hours with fighting with them, they finally decided to cooperate and they’re now the default speakers. So, how do they sound? Honestly, they sound fairly similar to the Sonos Arc, but you can at least add a sub to the Sonos. They’re not as clean as the Bose 900 though. So, I can’t honestly say who these make sense for. At $600 a pair, there’s only $100 that separates this from the Bose 900, and that can be expanded to a much more complete system. It also sounds better under most situations. The speakers do sound nice though and if you were thinking about grabbing an Arc and nothing else, then this is definitely a better value for the money and the sound profile is very similar. I have the Bose, so these are likely going back, but I would certainly have kept these if Apple made a wireless sub for them.

Great Speaker; but a need of improvment

I would really give it a 4.7 stars; But that's not possible. It's a very clean clear sound & bass quality is good but I have heard speakers others brands with a deeper bass. I wish It would work with more than just Apple devices. That's makes no sense why Apple would limit the sells to this speaker to Apple devices only. If the bass was 10% deeper, 5.3 Bluetooth, & worked with other than apple only... this would be a home run. This is a great speaker; but I think a better pricing for it is like $250. And it needs battery life of 12 hours too. Believe it or not in my opinion, It work best to me against the wall on a shelf.

    Great Smart Speakers.

Very easy to set up, sound is amazing. Bought it so I have a hub for HomeKit. Although Siri's answers are not always the best, the capabilities of Shortcuts and Automations is far better than Alexa. Also if you use Apple Music, controlling your speakers is more responsive and easier to use than Sonos' app.

    HomePod 2nd Gen

Overall, the sound quality is better than the original; however, there continue to be moments of disconnectivity from time to time which can be frustrating at times, but it just needs to be reconnected. No other problems have arisen.

    Mini vs full-size

I have had covered the house in homepod minis and decided I needed the full size. Couldn’t be happier with the sound difference with big homepod. Really fills the room and has much better bass.

You gotta give some to get some…always make sure to go to and adjuat you music settings…turn the sound check button off and select none for the sound equalizer for the loudest option…you may lose a little if youre comparing to the 1st Gen, but youre also picking up the Spartial feature up…As far as the not working with gen 1….If it works on Apple Air Play then it works together…Just a common occurrence of people complaining about things they just dont really know how to work! Im not a fan of the minis so ill take almost any apple option over those!

A Pair That Is Hard To Top

    Posted .

Setup as a pair you can’t beat the sound quality you get for the price. Integration with the Apple TV is seamless which no other competiitor can offer including Sonos. The Era 300 probably sounds better but it’s larger and cost over $300 more for the pair. If you don’t need or can’t have a bulky subwoofer this is the best self contained solution to get great sound from music or movies. Buy 2 or you are missing out. Highly recommend.

    Great small speakers

I bought two and are using them as a stereo pair with Apple TV. The audio is quite impressive for the size speaker. Works great for music & TV. The vocal clarity exceeds my Yamaha/Polk audio 5.2 sound system with movies & other TV programming. I subsequently bought a second pair for our office/study/

Great sound for one, can’t wait to pick another up to make a stereo pair. The microphones pick up my voice from everywhere so I can ask siri to control my home devices from rooms away. If you have HomeKit and you’re looking for a fantastic sounding speaker, do it, this is worth it. Plus the hand off feature is amazing.

By far one of the best sounding smart speakers, if not the best sounding. The audio quality is crazy good with clear highs and rich lows. It’s a big step up from my Sonos One. Going to buy another one for a stereo pair.

Great sound, equal to the original homepod, and better than the mini! I've got an original a bunch of minis and now 2 of the new Homepod 2's. They each have their place, but I greatly prefer the sound coming out of the 2 larger homepods.
