    Small Footprint - Huge Sound

1st off, the sound from this little guy blew me away. It fills the master bedroom wonderfully. It is a little on the bassy side initially but can be adjusted in Music "Settings". The design is attractive and has a small footprint. Unending amount of functionality. A noticeable upgrade from the iPod speaker of old. Extremely easy to use, its all Siri driven voice commands.

I got tired of Alexa's "by the way! advertising", among other things, and got lost trying to configure Google's whatever-they-are-calling-it-this-week voice activated service. Having a lot of Apple gear already, I decided to give HomeKit a try. I use HomeKit (now Apple Home) via HomeBridge in a Raspberry Pi to control a lot of devices that are not Home(kit) compatible. It runs fine; all the more reason I am pleased. I am VERY pleased with the build quality and appearance, and the ease of setup if you have an iPhone. Not sure how it would set up otherwise, but with an iPhone, and I presume with an iPad, setup is easy as falling off a log. The sound quality is good, but be advised: I am not using my HomePod Mini for music. Just voice activation, weather reports, and answering questions. Example: "Hey, Siri, what is 274 pound converted to kilograms?" My ONE cause for four stars rather than five: there is no means to keep Siri from being a bit verbose. I would like to say "Hey, Siri, turn on piano area floor lamps", and it just does it. Maybe with a little beep or double tone like Alexa does. Instead, Siri is a bit wordy at times, other times, either nothing, or "done!" (I am using the Irish male Siri voice.) If you are using Lutron for lighting, or are buying devices labeled "HomeKit Compatible", you are all set. If you are already dialed in to, say, a bunch of cloud-based devices, or, like me, a lot of Z-Wave and Zigbee items, HomeKit may not be for you unless you use something like HomeBridge or Home Assistant to join it up.

It’s a good sounding speaker with voice activated controls. Rather loud too for its size. Also if you buy multiple units you can connect them which a cool, but expensive feature. If you are in the Apple ecosystem then I would recommend getting it if you are looking for a speaker. Lastly I like that it’s small so it can be discretely placed in whatever room you decide it to be in.

This is a decent little speaker from Apple. I bought two for my home (bedroom and office; living room already has a TV sound setup) and these little units synced effortlessly with my phone and AppleHomeKit setup. Pros: Aesthetically pleasing design Good sound quality Effortless setup Affordable price point (compared with regular HomePod, at least) Cons: Works best with Apple apps (good luck Spotify users) Siri is still a work in progress, so speaking commands will take some finesse Just another basic BT speaker for Android users

TL; DR: The HomePod is super easy to set up and use with your iPhone. It even sounds pretty good. A good value if you get it on sale. Setup: Take it out, plug it in, and use your iPhone to configure it. Yep, that's it. Takes like 10 seconds. In use: I'm an Apple Music subscriber, and using Siri to control it works *fairly* well. For some reason, Siri doesn't understand a request for Boston's "Hitch A Ride", but otherwise seems to do a good job of figuring out what I'm asking for. One gripe is that the HomePod is essentially a 'separate device' as far as Apple Music is concerned; it would be nice to have the option of seamlessly continuing a playlist or song that's playing on your phone on the HomePod - obviously, there's a manual way to do this by using the HomePod as an Airplay destination, but it would be even nicer if it were automatic/seamless. Sounds quality-wise, it's good but not amazing - I'd say it sounds as good as a Sonos One, but each has its own pluses/minuses. The HomePod sounds a little 'bassy' to me; the bass is good, well-controlled, and has some texture, but there's just a little too much of it. Mids and highs are fairly clear and well-defined. Gets pretty loud without distorting or vibrating, which is nice. However, my KEF LS50s in the other room aren't feeling threatened.

Such an impressive little device I ended up buying another one! Very practical to have a virtual assistant that is easy to use. I live in an apartment so although I don’t have the “smart home” of my dreams just yet, I can count on it to turn my lights on/off, play music pretty loud, set reminders, and I LOVE the intercom feature. Keeps me from yelling for dinner time LOL. Overall great product.

Great Speaker, especially if you are already in the Apple ecosystem! Third HomePod speaker purchased in 5 years, this one for the kitchen. Love how I can have one playing or multiples to fill the whole house.

Best home speaker! So easy to setup and use. There are occasional connection issues. For example I’ll airplay Apple Music to it and it takes longer than expected for it to connect or it won’t connect at all. Siri is integrated and makes it easy to start home automation processes, play music, and manage personal needs (e.g. reminders, timers, calendar, etc.). And the price point is great!

Works well. The computer audio algorithm produces good sound for the convenient size. I have both the HomePod and the HomePod mini and suggest the mini for desk or counter where you aren’t trying to run full volume or full fidelity. This speaker still has crisp and clean sound, and good volume, but not as full as a larger speaker like the HomePod. I really like the intercom feature as well.

It's been working great for the past few months. To bad Apple didn't release it sooner. The sound quality is actually decent for a small speaker. You can crank up the volume without distortion. I also added a second one, so now there's stereo sound in the room. I've linked it and tested it on our Apple tv, which is in another room. And that really improved the tv sound quality. But I prefer keeping the speakers in the kitchen, which is where we spend a lot of time. Overall, the Seri voice command has been working just fine - as expected. Transferring music from my iPhone to the speaker is a simple 'touch-n-go' process. But I haven't spent much time connecting it to the Home Kit app in order to control a couple of switches/lamps. They say it can be done, but I haven't pursued it yet. When I first installed the speakers there were a number of occasions when it lost a connection to our wifi network. That turned into a hassle getting it connected again (or simply resetting it does the trick). There were reports of similar occurrences about this on different Apple product forums a while ago, but since then there's been a software update. And the wifi signal in our house was improved by our service provider (router was replaced). While there's still an every-once-in-a- while wifi connection glitch, it generally resolves itself on its own within a few minutes. Overall, really good smart speaker at a decent price.

    Great for Apple Music

I purchased this because I have Apple Music, it was on sale, and I just wanted new toys. I picked up two and they sound phenomenal in a studio pair. I use it basically for setting alarms or reminders, and of course playing music. The HomePod has very rich bass and sounds great, but I wish it had an EQ mode. The sound fills the room on very low volume and I haven't really tested it at its peak volume. You can also speak in a normal voice across the room and Siri will pick up your command effortlessly. I wish this could be paired via bluetooth with other devices, but for what I got this thing for it works as advertised. I still don't think it is even worth the sale price, but that has nothing really to do with the product itself. It should be maybe $50 cheaper than what is is on sale. It is just very limited right now, but hopefully Apple releases future software updates to take advantage of such great hardware.

The homepod mini is fantastic if you're using apple's homekit as a home automation system. The sound is better than competitors in my opinion and has temperature and humidity sensors built in. The sound is clear and crisp when playing music and siri has improved a lot.

Bought when on sale for $199. When it first came out on the market, I Always thought HomePod was over priced for its functionality, but well worth it at this sell price. I’m a total Apple product fan. Fits nicely with my Apple ecosystem. Love the control it provides for my smart home features. Since my wife is intimidated using my stereo system, she likes the convenience of the HomePod to listen to music while doing projects around the house. Sounds really good for a compact sized speaker. Looks good with my family room furniture decor too! Pretty cool feature is the fact that my other Apple products, like our phones and watchs, knows not to interfere with the homepod’s Hey Siri feature when I call out to it. Nice!

    Tiny Speaker - Big Sound

Siri was always very helpful, from shortcuts to just telling me the weather in the morning I always found Siri helpful. Siri just got an upgrade. My new HomePod mini (in white) looks nicer and doesn’t stand out as much as my old black Amazon Alexa. I mostly use my HomePod to control lights, play music, and sleep sounds at night. Siri does all this very well. In terms of other capabilities, Siri can’t play games unless you program a shortcut (which takes a long time) but seeing as I didn’t use that feature much, I’m not upset. The sound that comes out of this little speaker is amazing. I can turn it all the way up in my bedroom and still hear it cooking in the kitchen. It is my only HomePod, so I don’t use the intercom feature and can’t comment on that. The compatibility with non-apple apps is alright. You can’t set Spotify as your default app but you can hold your phone close to the HomePod while playing music on Spotify and have the sound switch over, and you can play by using share play on your phone. None of it takes too much effort and it’s cheaper than paying for Apple Music every month. Overall, I’m more than satisfied with this purchase. It’s a quality speaker at a decent price (for apple at least) and it comes through.

It is easy to set-up. It is amazingly small for it’s sound out put and sound quality. I have found the HomePod mini to be very useful. I especially when I use it with one of the home hub electrical plugs. I have found The look of the home pod mini to be pleasing yet unobtrusive. Thinking about giving a home pod mini as a gift for an upcoming birthday day present.

    Homepod mini

Apple homepods mini delivers good sound and quality is there. Great for users with Apple devices in home already. It doesn’t compare to the original homepods which can find on sale for $200. As for the $100 price on the mini I think is alittle much because there are so many other smart speakers about the same size that are cheaper. Apple needs to step their game up and have more smart devices that are HomeKit compatible. Idk if it’s a quality control thing or not but I am an Apple user for the most part but a lot of my devices like light bulbs and security cameras aren’t HomeKit compatible so I can’t use that app to consolidate all my devices to one app. So end up having google for thermastat and internet, Alexa echo 5 and old dot which use for ring doorbell and blink camera. So to be honest unless u don’t like the size of original homepod and u are an Apple house then maybe consider this. Sound quality is pretty descent. It doesn’t get too loud or have deep bass like the big homepods. Hey Siri seems to pick up my voice within the room but original homepod definitely did a way better job with that and everything else. I do have to say I love sound quality of the apple homepods they are very clear and hear nice crisp sounds that normal are drowned out or unnoticeable. I have in the bedroom 2 original homepods grouped together for stereo sound on ether side of beds nightstand and have mini homepod on opposite side of room by wall in center of room and I play music on all three at same time. I like that I’m able to adjust the sound level individually between them while all are playing the same source. With homepods grouped u can only control volume as if they were one. If unpair them from each other then u can set their volume separately which is nice because I can tune the volume of all 3 to make it feel like I’m in the center between them when I’m really laying on bed close to 1 of big homepods.

If you were looking for deep, rich bass and booming sound, that will fill a room, don’t go with us and spend the extra money for the big HomePod second generation. I got one of these as a gift a couple of Christmases ago and wanted to get another one to put on my wife’s nightstand. After getting them paired up, I will say that the stereo pair matching makes for a better movie watching experience, then just listening out of one HomePod mini. Of course, they will only work with Apple TV 4K‘s and above and don’t expect much out of the Siri assistant. Siri sucks! These things are constantly losing connection to the net work , and if you try to make Siri request, you’re more apt to yank the thing off your dresser or table and just check it across the wall. If you want to play your Apple Music go right ahead stream YouTube or Netflix go right ahead because that is what it is mainly going to be good for listening to music and not much else. They are very small , don’t take up too much room and are a good choice. If you want to get some quality sound on the cheap..
