Easy to hook up. Makes it easy to control home items. I plan to get other items that it can control. If I forget I can use it instead of wasting time. Music on it is quite good.

This is probably my most favorite home automation device, I used to have the Amazon Alexa but quite frankly I just got tired with the amount of ads it was trying to push on me so after a while I caved in and I returned the Alexa and got myself a HomePod and I've been happy ever cents, between both using it as a speaker, connecting it to my Apple TV, and using it for home automation, I'm glad I got this purchase

Sound quality is absolutely spectacular for something so small. It seamlessly connects to my Apple TV, iPad, iPhone and MacBook.

Excellent sound for a small package. No issues so far. Good to place in smaller areas. I would recommend the larger HomePod for larger areas--if you can still get your hands on one.

The main selling point of this speaker is two things, the ease of use being a speaker made from apply and being in that ecosystem, and the small form factor of the speaker. Both of which were the two things that let me down about this speaker. The first point I will dive into isn't mainly about this speaker but Siri in general and that is to say it sucks. The wait time to get Siri to reply, or do a simple task like stopping my alarm in the morning is more dreadful than just reaching over to my phone and doing it manually. Combining a terrible AI from Apple with a speaker that is supposed to be the hardware version of Siri, it sucks to say that this device failed due to Apple's poor AI. The second portion of this review and the second biggest selling point to the speaker is the form factor which I can say is very small and blends into the background. However due to the small form factor, the speakers suffer greatly, and I am not new to the small form factor speakers as I am coming from products made by UE, Marshall, and Sony to name a few. This product lacks the "umph" that is needed in the small form factor and it unfortunately doesn't have the feature set to justify the Apple price tag.

Great Apple product - very easy to set up with a great result. Clear sound with good volume range. Of course it links in seamlessly with other Apple products for music and a smart home.

These smart powered speakers (I bought a stereo pair) look great and sound great...and listen even better. At first blush the $349 price sounded very high...though I hit a $50 off sale... but when you think about it they’re not. The solid/heavy compact speakers pack a punch in the bass and with 7 folded horn tweeters fill the whole room with omnidirectional sound. Each of the 8 speakers has its own amplifier and are separately controlled by the A8 processor (same as in iPhone 6). The touch controls and discreet color display round out the package. The bass auto adjusts to room size and the 7 tweeters sense walls and beam the sound around the room...I.e. these sound great anywhere in any room at any volume (no distortion at full volume). After updating them to Airplay 2, I could use them as a stereo pair, whole house speakers that play the same or different content in different rooms or assign each to different accounts for independent control from separate user IOS, TVOS, or MacOS devices—remember these are WiFi, not Bluetooth, full range speakers (40-20kHz?). Spookily amazing are the 6 microphones that can hear and respond to your normal (inside) voice even when the speakers are creating a cathedral soundstage while playing Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor at full volume. Siri easily answers queries like “what’s the weather tomorrow” when you ask from the next room. I did not have home automation devices to test, but as you can tell I’m having fun with a pair of HomePods. Just don’t think they can replace your $500+ HiFi tower speakers ... or the other way around ;?)

Siri is going to be replacing Alexa

Apple has hit it out of the park with the HomePod Mini. The sound quality, responsiveness, and ability to have it as the main hub. What Apple has done is created a better Alexa, it might be “late” to the game, but ensuring quality and introduction of full support for Thread technology is a game changer. Apple has been very clear in the direction it has taken with these products. As someone with an Alexa in every room, who has move his home to a fully functional HomeKit home integrated with some back end software for ZWave devices and my Ring Alarm and Cameras. To sum everything up, Siri is soon to be in every room in a HomePod Mini replacing Alexa.

Great quality sound, and has Siri to assist. For the size, I’m happy with what I got. The only thing I wish is it being able to use Bluetooth rather than wifi only.

I recently used Amazon Echo dots for my digital assistant which were pretty good, but then came the Apple Mini HomePod and the rest is history. Great sound for a small speaker and sounds great when you pair two of them together! Could use a little more bass, but it sounds crisp and clear even when you max out the sound. Being as though I do have many Apple products, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, I felt it was time to switch to a complete Apple ecosystem. The HomePod mini works with many different products flawlessly. The handoff feature is one of my favorites! So if you don’t feel like spending $300 for the HomePod, the mini is a solid choice.

This is easily the most useless and unsuccessful Apple product I’ve owned. It’s the first time I’ve felt genuinely undersatisfied with an Apple purchase. Apple markets HomePod as offering “seamless transfers,” but that only applies to music. You cannot transfer or use it for app-based calls like Zoom, Teams, or WhatsApp. A basic $30 Bluetooth speaker can handle those without issue. In that sense, this is objectively worse than a cheap speaker. Sound quality is not impressive either. It’s fine, but nothing special, and in my experience not better than an Amazon Echo. For the price, it’s overpriced and underwhelming. The behavior is also unreliable. It randomly starts playing music without any clear trigger, and when that happens, you often can’t even stop or control it properly from the phone. This has happened multiple times, and it feels unpredictable and buggy. Connection with a Mac is unstable. You cannot rely on it as a permanent external speaker. It disconnects, fails to reconnect, and generally does not behave like a normal audio device. Bottom line: this is not a smart speaker in any practical sense. It’s a very restricted music appliance with confusing limitations that Apple does not clearly disclose. Honestly, a $15 knockoff Bluetooth speaker would be more versatile and seamless for everyday use. Extremely disappointing.

The speakers work great. Easy setup. Apple build quality. Lots of great features. True 360 degree sound. The only issue I have is that controlling this vis your phone is very clunky. It’s built into HomeKit and very awkward. Siri control is good though.
