I bought a set of these for my living room to use as a stereo pair. I love using them with my Apple TV, and I can use them in somewhat of a surround sound way by also having my sound bar selected for sound output. Very good addition to my home theater setup. The blue looks awesome with everything else in my living room. Plus the other features are great for just listening to music and asking Siri to set timers and what the weather’s like today.

If you have an iPhone this little speaker is for you, if you have a Apple TV this is definitely for you. If you have Apple a Music music subscription, what are you waiting for? I bought one and was amazed at what was coming out of this tiny thing. I was so impressed I went back and got another! Stereo sounds twice as good as one lol. You can even link more then just 2! Set up is stupidly easy. You hold your iPhone above it and it automatically sets up like AirPods do. If they had this for $199 originally I would have gotten it years ago!

Sooo glad I bought one for both my kids. Now I want one! Great sound from such a small device. The intercom is also a cool feature. Better than Alexa.

A bigger, better sound than it’s size suggests

If you are in to the Apple system, the mini is perfect for small rooms with plenty of available volume. While it cannot reproduce deep base, unlike it’s bigger brother it does not try to produce bass sounds that are out of it’s normal range, which is a plus. As long as you don’t crank it all the way up, the sound is very good given its price point. If you use IOT devices using Apple’s HomeKit, it can be your required hub and enable vast improvement in Bluetooth connected devices that use Thread.

Great speaker but wait until they are on sale

I bought a pair of HomePods from Best Buy right before Christmas when they were on sale for $199 apiece. At that price, the ability to play music (directly from Apple Music or via AirPlay from an iPhone or iPod) or sound from an Apple TV more than justified the price for the pair. (I have them set up to play as a stereo pair.) A good stereo would cost as much and saddle me with unsightly speaker wires. And the bass on these is just awesome, particularly when you figure the relatively small size. I liked them enough that a few days after Christmas, I decided to pick up a second pair to use in another room. However, at that point the price had gone up to $300. They are nice speakers but at $200 apiece they are pricey; at $300 apiece they are way overpriced. My advice. Wait until they go on sale for $199 either at Best Buy or at another retailer that Best Buy will price match. As for Siri functionality, I was pleasantly surprised. She can hear me even when the HomePods are playing music pretty loudly. And most of the basic commands I’ve tried work well. Voice control of HomeKit accessories seems brisker than the same command given to Alexa. However, when I ask Siri to turn on a group of lights she does fine but when I ask her to turn off the same group, she replies, “I can’t turn off a scene.” Odd. Where Siri still falls down is on knowledge-based requests. She still tends to want to send you the information as a link to a website you can view on your iPhone or other screen. Since HomePod has no screen, these requests cannot be fulfilled. The basic bottom line is these are great speakers when on sale but overpriced at full price. Smart speaker functionality is getting better all the time but still needs some work. Oh, and you still need an iOS device to set the HomePod up, so if the HomePod is your only Apple device, you’re out of luck,

We decided to go with Apple’s HomePod minis as a bargain way to begin smart home accessories using Apple’s HomeKit. We aren’t ready to invest in the full setup yet, but love the versatility of the HomePod mini. From intercom ability throughout our home to controlling and playing music and audio, it is a delightful experience. You find yourself using it more than expected thanks to the Siri functions and it is fun exploring the other abilities of the HomePod mini. A great listening experience!

Sounds surprisingly good for something this small. If you’re in the “Apple Ecosystem” then I’d highly recommend. Being able to play music without tying up your phone is huge. We use it to play calming music for the dogs when we’re gone during the day. I plan on getting more. I do wish it was closer to $75 vs $100

The HomePod mini has great sound for its size. Even more so when stereo paired. Setup was simple, by just plugging it in while holding an iPhone next to it. I was easily able to add a room in the Home app since it was the first HomeKit-compatible device in the room. My only complaint is that you have to use the provided 20W adapter Apple supplies which sticks out from the wall enough to where it wouldn’t fit behind most furniture without pulling it several inches off the wall.

I use this in the kitchen to listen to music while we entertain friends and family. This has excellent sound quality and I love how easy it is to use with my iPhone and apple play. You can set up several of these around the house and play the same music through all of them. You can also use them as intercoms. It's a perfect solution for people looking to add music and functionality without having to run cables through your house.

    Best home assistant I've tested

I have used all the major home assistant for music and home automation and have to say so far the HomePod so far is the best. Alexa, Google home, and home assistant with local AI all have there strengthens and weaknesses, but ultimately HomePod is better at understanding my commands. I will say I am using Home Assistant as the back end for this, and the integration of home automation functions is a little wonky, but easy enough to setup and get working. What i don't love? Spotify is not supported and HomePod literally can't integrate properly, so if you use apple music, you're good to go, if you don't you're likely out of luck. I have been forced to use an iPad to cast Spotify to the speaker of my choice. In my house I'm using two minis and the big HomePod. The big HomePod could be better from a music quality standpoint, the minis are pretty decent given the size, but I wouldn't use them for listening to music. Despite the music issues, I still give it give stars because I was expecting the apple ecosystem is exclusive and doesn't integrate well, and I am reviewing the mini, not the Apple ecosystem.

I was a bit skeptical about the sound and functionality with this since we have to regular homepods and knew the sound wouldn’t be the same. While the regular homepods have much better sound, the HomePod mini has an incredibly loud and high fidelity experience. I was so surprised at how awesome this sounded and how much bass it has for a speaker less than 4 inches high. I would continue to buy these fir every room in my house just by the sound quality alone

Great speaker that's not so smart...yet

The HomePod emphasizes sound quality more than smarts. It’s most useful to think of the HomePod primarily as a high-performance wireless speaker that is voice-controlled and to consider its “smart” features as secondary. Audio: Apple stuffed this device with loads of sophisticated audio components—seven tweeters, a high-excursion subwoofer, and six microphones—as well as, to make it all work, one of Apple’s own A8 chips, like those used in iPhones. The result is an excellent deep, rich audio that sounds fantastic. The speaker is easy to set up and effortless to use, as long as you're playing Apple Music. Smart features: You can’t make calls to phones or other HomePods or create calendar appointments, or make use of any of the 15,000-plus smart skills (like games, Uber or Lyft requests, pizza delivery, and more) that have powered the popularity of Alexa or Google Home platform.

The sound quality is impressive, great bass, seems to fill a very large space. Easy setup. Can play from desktop, 2 laptops, 2 iPhones. Siri integration is good, Homepod picks up voice commands from almost anywhere in the apartment. Use for music playback, control of smart lighting, kitchen timers, alarms. Happy with the purchase at a great price.

For Product: I’m happy with the HomePod mini and it works ax expected. Purchase Experience: before heading to the store I checked to make sure the store I wanna price match with is in the approved list and once at the register, the cashier asked the manager if they can match the price and the manager said “ no, because the offer is online only.” I had to step aside and go through the policy again and found out that as long as the product is ready to ship, and the store is in the list of approved competitors, they should honor the price match. I had to go to the cashier and show them the policy and the cashier had to “convince” the manager to follow Best Buy policy. The price from the competitor was below the minimum allowed price, which I was ok with whatever the minimum allowed price is. (Needed to have it on the same day). The other thing is that the website shows that the product comes with 4 offers, and cashier told me that the customer cannot choose which one to receive. (He tried to see if he can choose, but he couldn’t. It’s the system’s limitation)
