Absolutely essential if you own an iPhone or iPad. Not all media supports Apple AirPlay. I opted to buy my adapter from Best Buy because I know it's genuine Apple (buying from auction websites doesn't guarantee it's Apple and most of those aftermarket adapters don't work properly- you're wasting your money). I use my adapter most often for Keynote (Apple version of PowerPoint) presentations on large televisions. I bought an Open Box product and it can't be distinguished from Brand New. It saved me some money.

You can see anything on your phone on your tv without cable or internet. THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!! A must have!!!

Easy to use device. One point prevents a highest score, the lead wire connector is too short which requires phone “driver” to hold device very close to tv screen when showing pics

This product is very useful as I just began to purchase and rent movies from iTunes on my iPhone. With a very simple plug and play approach, I am able to view the HD movies I rented right on the big screen with no loss of quality. I purchased the Macbook Air as a backup computer for my on the road trips. The MacBook Air comes without some to the inputs needed today to do presentations. In particular I could not hook up an HDMI cable to my notebook. This adapter took care of that problem and is a great tool for those wanting to connect their MacBook Air to HDMI devices by plugging this adapter into the FireWire input on the MacBook Air. Works seamlessly!

This converter is handy for getting the image from your iPhone or iPad to an HDMI capable monitor. It works exactly like it is supposed to allowing you to charge your device while sending the image.
