Works as advertised

But because it has to be hardwired to the TV or A/V system, the cable can be unsightly (and a potential tripping hazard). Also, a separate charging cable needs to be attached to this adapter if you want your device charged at the same time. A better option might be to use an Apple TV instead.

Even though you can use Mirroring to TV, I strongly recommend Lightning Digital A/V Adapter.

An alternative way to view your iPhone on TV

It’s an alternative way to view your phone image on a bigger screen when your phone app doesn’t allow streaming over AirPlay, chrome cast... or when there just isn’t WiFi available.

It's well worth the price and makes watching movies anywhere much more convenient playing on a bigger screen tv.
