I originally purchased this item because I love my MacBook Pro and wanted to declutter my desk. While I love the size and the functionality, it is so SLOW. Granted this is an older model, but after having used other Mac products, I was under the impression that even this would be exceptional years after manufacturing. I was wrong. This model also does not allow for easy ram replacement, so it wasn't even worth buying new as you couldn't replace it without voiding the warranty.

I bought this as an open box item and was reassured it was tested by geek squad. Unfortunately the computer kept freezing during the set up which must have been missed by their diagnostics testing. Just wish I didn't get my hopes up that the savings wouldn't be short lived. I am returning the product this weekend and plan on forking over the extra $50 for a brand new one.

Long-time Mac owner and user here, but this is my first Mac Mini. I've owned a variety of Mac Pros, iMacs and laptops over the years, but this is by far the most sluggish thing from Apple I've ever seen. I literally have a better and more responsive experience from my Titanium Powerbook. I'm not sure where the lag is coming from, and I've even tried booting from an external SSD, but it's basically unusable, except, perhaps for the most basic of things. I'm going to return this and try the next model up, which has more memory and fast processor, but this machine is an embarrassment.

I was looking for a Mac option to carry home and work for testing. Once I finished installing all the Applications I needed this system became very slow to boot and work, I returned it. I will wait and purchase a full all in one system with at least 3.0 ghz.

Was disappointed to find out RAM is soldered to MB

It was extremely sluggish compared to any of my other apple products. I then returned the product for the 2.6GHz- 8GB Memory model and love it.

This Mac mini is extremely slow... start up time seems like it took a little over 5 minutes. Apps took forever to open and I had no data saved on it yet. Definitely recommend just going ahead and upgrading to at least 8gb.

I got this and then upgraded to the 1tb model but both lacked in wireless keyboard (non apple) support it worked but would cut in and out despite it being made for Mac and connecting it to a non Apple hdmi screen made the screen go black and flicker on both units expected better for the price especially from apple

This is the second Mac Mini I've owned and Apple did a huge disservice with this model by closing the case so you can't upgrade the RAM. OS X will use the built in 4GB on just basic tasks, at the very least you need 8GB and 16GB would be ideal. Only buy this computer if you are only doing very light web surfing and checking email. Anything more than that and you will quickly regret your decision as I did.

It is not a very easy com. Too learn with out a lot of help I'm not a. Wiz with comp. to start with had to go back to best buy to find out how to download a program still in progress

I'm a big Apple fan but truly dissappointed in the Apple Mac Mini. The biggest problem is that the drive is terribly slow even with an Intel Core i5 processor. I believe Apple users have become spoiled by the speed of SSD drives on our Apple MacBooks. Using the Mac Mini makes me feel like I'm using a computer from the early 1990's. Bad purchase decision on my part.

Bought this computer for my mother, but it froze to much and lagged, I love apple products, and have several, but this base model, was a disappointment.

Well if I don't get it solved it's going back to best buy. Problems is I can not connect to wireless to my hp photosmart d110 printer from the max mini

Purchased this computer to compile and build apps. It was much too slow to run xcode. It just didn’t have the raw computing power. This might be ok for a low stress, low demand media station and basic word processing but that is it.

This my second Mac mini. The first one is 8 years old and served well. So this time I did not think twice and bought this one only to find this is a painfully slow machine. I wanted an exchange but it was past 15 days so could not do it.

While the quality and innovation that Apple is famous for is all in this unit, the RAM is soldered to the motherboard and there are no RAM expansion slots. 4GB is not enough. This unit will be nearly useless in a few years.

4GB ram really limiting if you want to run Windows in Parallel on mac. Insufficient machine for such needs. I buy a lot of Apple product, but won't be buying a mac mini again.

Basically lie to when purchasing this item. Rep said it would be better and faster than my mini. The only thing positive about this mini is that it has a HDMI port.

After living with "Apple people" for much of my life, I decided to take the plunge and try an Apple product. I used this to work on development for an app and it worked fine for that (the reason i gave it more than 1 star). However, this product has done nothing to change prior belief true that Apple products are overpriced and lack justification of being forced to use the "Apple ecosystem". For anybody wanting a computer, one could build (or buy!) a PC for the same price with more power, more features, and learn a thing or two along the way.
