Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the Mac mini's ease of use, compact size, and overall performance as significant advantages. The price point and compatibility with other Apple devices are also appreciated. However, some customers express concerns about the limited and non-upgradeable RAM, as well as the hard drive's capacity and speed.

I was very clear why I wanted to buy and how I was going to use this product. The machine barely has enough ram to operate the operating system. Bad customer service because of terrible knowledge of product

The Mac mini was a open box special and was to be NEW unit. But it was NOT new. Apple's records showed it to have been sold about 3 weeks before I got it. The ether net port was DEAD and Best Buy could not fix it. Apple said I would have to bring it to Roseville or Sacramento to their techs. for repair. This transaction turn out to be a real pain the Butt. After returning it to Best Buy they now will not let me return any more items for a undisclosed time period. This is a real one way street, that only goes to Best Buy and not the customer . Needless to say, I'm not a very happy customer ! SO BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!

I have owned many apple products over the past 15 years. I bought this as a family computer and almost immediately returned it. It is at very best has minimal specs. Not enough ram and a slower processor. I was disappointed that apple could even still sell this as new technology

I returned this product. It was very very very slow out of the box. My 2010 mini mac is faster. Will purchase a new mini mac when Apple decides to update the product line with newer hardware.

Super slow, No CD/DVD Drive, I upgraded from an older mac mini from 08, which was faster and had a CD/DVD Drive. This gave me a view at what apple was really thinking about. They want you to throw away your old disks an repurchase your entire library. And the unit can't be upgraded 1.4ghz processor, Runs like a old 486, when you outgrow simply toss in the trash. I returned this machine. Apple sliding down the hill. Whom ever at apple designed this thing, should be retired/terminated. Intel now in their 6th generation and with memory running in the ghz, nobody wants 4 year old technology; today!.

This computer is a great price to get into a Mac, though it has some shortcomings. The biggest issue with this model is that it is very hard to work on. It's hard to replace the hard drive and impossible to upgrade the memory, as it is soldered on.

Apple should be ashamed for selling this piece of junk for this price. It’s not worth $299 let along $499 and I’m a fan of Apple products. I purchased this and it lasted all of two days before returning. I was so turned off by the Macmin, I don’t even want to try the new one. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro and just use that with a monitor keyboard and trackpad when I want a desktop experience.

I've been waiting for this mac to come out for a long time. This mac mini and it's $699 brother both use the Haswell Intel processors which have better graphics and are a little more power efficient than the outgoing 3rd generation Ivy Bridge processors. This base model Mac Mini seems to not entirely have a place at it's price point. Hardware wise if you have the knowledge on how to put together a computer this is about ~$275 in parts at the moment for a machine running Windows or Linux (375 with windows operating system). This is running OS X and does come with the iLife suite, personally the iLife suite was enough for me to pick one of these up for basic tasks like garage band and iMovie as I already have a powerful Windows computer. I went ahead and purchased what's called the "Late 2012" Model Mac Mini. The reason for doing that is the upgrade from OS X Maverick to Yosemite is free, and with the late 2012 model you have the ability to upgrade the RAM. This new $499 model you're stuck with 4GB, of RAM, for the life of the product. Understand the user base for a mac isn't entirely familiar with upgrading components but at least the functionality is there if down the road you are running out of ram or hard drive space. Also sort of a downer is the outgoing late 2012 model has a 2.5GHz (Turbo 3.1) processor and while this new mac mini has a generation newer 1.4GHz (Turbo 2.7) doesn't match the 2.5GHz outgoing model. I'd recommend looking into trying to find a late 2012 model. With the late 2012 model there's room for you to grow. I'm not sure if I'll need 8GB of ram as I'm just getting into mac and OS X, but at least if I need it I can just upgrade for ~$70. Buy the late 2012 model or step up the extra ~$200 to get the middle of the road model (At the moment $699) with a much more powerful processor, twice the storage and twice the ram already installed so you don't have to upgrade (late 2012) or purchase a new mac again in the future.

Bought Mac Mini for my 55" TV. Using keyboard and mouse from my iMac desktop computer. Appears to work great and takes up little space on my entertainment center. Using via a HDMI connection. Also a small external disk drive is recommended for backup and restore purposes. Where else do you get a Apple computer for under $500, GREAT BUY.
