Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Apple Watch Series 2's ease of use, long battery life, and water resistance. Many appreciate the accurate GPS, fitness tracking capabilities, and the ability to receive notifications directly on their wrist. The watch's design and size also receive positive feedback. While some find the price high and have concerns about the band, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive.

I wasn't getting notification feedback from the Watch. Apple and bestbuy folks verified that Watch is defective. I ended up returning it. Even version 2 seems like work in progress.

I purchased a series 2, 42 mm open box from Best Buy with the 2 year Apple Care and the Watch arrived in excellent condition w/ no visible wear or blemishes within about 3 days. I don't normally wear watches as I have access to my phone for time, date and timers, so first putting the device on took getting used to. However, the stock nylon band is comfortable and light (although it does absorb sweat and I have since started using it for workouts and opt for a nicer after market Pad & Quill band when at work or out.) Battery life is good, considering how small this device is and all it does. I can end the day w/ > 60% power remaining even after an hour of workout tracking, occasionally taking a voice call if I'm away from my desk, and using Siri to carry out various tasks. My days typically go from about 6am to 10:30pm. You do need to charge it each evening, but I have no issue with this as the included magnetic charger works well and makes my watch into a makeshift nightstand alarm clock. I absolutely love the added convenience of wearing my AW and feel naked without it. I can control my home's lighting, set reminders, receive and send texts w/ Siri, follow directions, test my heart rate, check in at my gym w/o a key tag, track workouts, take calls and make calls from my wrist while away from my phone (to a degree; and this actually does come in handy at times) and do quite a few other things quickly and easily. While much of this functionality is redundant considering the phone, the added convenience is awesome when you don't want to or can't be on your phone. I find I spend less time looking at the phone and compulsively checking it. The Watch is great for workout tracking. I haven't used it on outdoor runs as much (weather has been crummy) in order to calibrate it as well as I probably should, but the heart rate monitoring and calories are pretty consistent with the machines at the gym. While I'm not a hardcore triathlete or anything, the health tracking is a huge part of why I wanted this. Not only does it motivate you but it tracks all sorts of useful health data to monitor progress or if I'm tripping up. I've definitely become more excited about workouts because it's almost like a game, now. The waterproof capability is a very welcome addition over standard water resistance as well so I don't have to worry about babying it and can fully submerge it without any concern. There are some areas for improvement in regards to occasional bugginess and poor connectivity to my jaybird Bluetooth headphones if used w/o the phone around (for runs), but for the most part, "it just works," and I think these newer watches w/ the newer OS are finally make it a more useful device. I will note that I occasionally do laps at my local pool in the summers as well as wanting to run w/o my phone and track them, so I went with the series 2 because of this. However, I think for most people the series 1 is just as good. You can definitely save a few bucks if the GPS and water proof capabilities are not needed as I understand they both share the same processor. I can't speak to battery life and have heard the series 2 has just slightly better battery life. If I could give a very specific review score, I would say 4.5 stars out of 5 due to slight bugginess on relatively rare occasions and lack of Siri support for 3rd party apps (rumor is this is being addressed), but as a general rating, I give it 5 stars. The Apple Watch is a highly impressive device in regards to semi-affordable technology that has this much functionality and battery life packed into such a small package. While longer battery life is desirable, this iteration has sufficient battery stamina to suit my needs adequately and I can't wait to see if these things just continue to get more impressive over time. I can't imagine needing to upgrade this for at least a good 4-5 years so long as the battery holds up that long. It does most everything I need or expect it to within reason.
