I read a lot of reviews for the Apple Watch before deciding to purchase it, including a Consumer Reports review of all the new smart watches in which Apple Watches took like 4 out of the top 5 spots. I am an Apple fan anyway because Apple stuff always works and on the off chance something does go wrong, Apple will go out of their way to help you fix it. For example, I had a billing error recently in which a recurring iTunes purchase was being denied after repeated attempts to post to my back account. Turns out it was my fault (I forgot to update my billing address when I moved - oops), but the very pleasant Apple customer service rep gave me a couple free iTunes movie rentals just for having to take time out of my schedule to call customer support. Try getting that from any other company- EVER. As for the watch itself, I purchased it as a gift for the man in my life who insists on having all the latest gadgets. My big concern was this: is he actually going to use this consistently or will he play with it for a week and then forget it. Turns out there are a lot of things the watch can do to make little things easier. Perhaps most impressive is just how customizable it is. Whatever you're in to, you can have it at your fingertips. Plus being able to pay for things with your watch - how cool is that? And for those of us who can't pull out our phones at work (or even have the ringer on regardless of volume), the watch gives you a very discreet way to do things like text or check your email or play trivia crack or watch Hulu or whatever. I also have to thank BestBuy for having these on sale and shipping fast for Christmas, otherwise there is no way I could've afforded it. So, really, the only bad thing about the Apple Watch is that I don't have one of my own. Yet. But my birthday is right around the corner, so I'm hopeful lol.

Maybe my review is a little premature since I purchased about a week ago, but I've been using it ever day since. While there are many pros, there are some cons as well. I do love how easily you can view/answer text messages, receive calls, and the health app. The size of the screen is perfect for me. I dont have Bluetooth in my car, so being able to answer calls on the watch is a huge benefit. The biggest downside is that when you answer texts ad take some calls each lasting no longer than 5 minutes, there is a fairly significant decrease in battery. Without a doubt, you need to charge this either every night or the first thing in the morning.

I have to say that the activity tracker on this watch is almost spot on when it comes to calorie burn and heartrate monitoring during workouts. Im very impressed and know I made the right choice.

Already owning an Apple Watch, purchasing this Apple Watch Sport has been a great investment. Much of my working day requires a lot of physical activity in places where I would be concerned about damaging the more expensive Watch, plus this Sport Watch is actually lighter than the next model up. I also purchased Apple Care for this Watch, a mistake I made with the first Watch. And I am paying for that silly mistake already (literally paying. Get Apple Care!). The Sport has all the functionality I need, especially its Health Kit integration. I would never have known how active my day truly was! Now, anyone at work I show the health app to is amazed because I go on to explain that they are performing the same level of activity I am (for the most part). Thousands of steps, miles and miles of walking, hours of standing, and a ton of calories burned. I can see how they find an appreciation for the instant gratification of knowing how much they've put in to their job, and how much it's benefiting their health. The Sport pays for itself not only in monitoring my health, but decreases my distractions during the day by briefly showing me emails, texts, and notifications that would have required me to pull out my phone and stop what I am concentrating on. Instead, a quick glance at my wrist tells me everything I need to know, and I can decide if it's important enough to get the phone out for any reason. Plus I have the Watch set to silent so I'm notified through light taps and vibrations on my wrist so that no one else is distracted by my personal messages, phone calls, etc. This is a product that does justice to the Internet of Things, and will improve your quality of life in so many wonderful ways.

Great product with impressive functionality and usability for I-Phone users. I was amazed at the build quality, design and apps available to make your I-Phone even more user friendly than it already is. I highly recommend it for a person on the go who can't alway reach for their phone. One downside is the battery life could use improvement; however, I just charge it at night when I charge my phone. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

My wife likes this Apple watch. She still needs to set it up for her real likes but the basics call, text and fitness features are working well for her. The 42 mm sport edition was the right watch. If any smaller, our old eyes would really need help to navigate. Remember it is a pairing device with your iphone. Pros: It conveniently shows notifications, which actually helps limit pulling your phone out. Battery life easily gets through the whole day. She really likes the Activity tracking. Cons: It is right on the edge for the over 40 crowd with weak reading eyes. However, you do get used to it quickly.

We purchased this watch for our 15 year old son and our daughter's 18 year old boyfriend. Neither have stopped playing with all of the features. Super easy pairing with their iPhones and unlike my Moto 360 on the Android platform they can handle phone calls through the iWatch! For a geek like myself, that is the cherry on top. Very James Bond. Thank you Apple for making these young men's Christmas that much better!

As a watch it's good, nice to be able to change watch faces. One for work, one for vacations or weekends. Add the apps, and it increases the utility greatly. On set-up it will automatically pull ALL compatible apps, but it's not difficult to delete/unlink those you don't desire. Not all apps are compatible, and on some there are restrictions. For example you cannot change books on Audible, but it works great with google maps, timers, alarms, messages, music, camera, bill pays. etc. You don't have to grab you iPhone to read texts, e-mail (IF you want - it nice option but distracting if you have too many e-mails) The watch can be set to the same restrictions as your iPhone - like notifications, sounds. Shows you Walmart shopping lists, CVS medication reminders, Charge card alerts/balances - depends on the cards Five great utilities right at you fingertips - Airplane mode, Nighttime, Silence, Locate you phone, and Airplay. Good extension of iPhone pay, Siri, and phone usage - who's calling or texting. (If you answer your phone with the watch, it wants to communicate via your watch, not the bluetooth headset you are currently listening to your music or books . . . you can easily change once you get your hands on your phone - really it's speaker and mic are only so big). Drawback - 1) needs to be charged. On a quite day you can get two days out of a charge. I have never had it run out during my waking hours. 2) Water resistant - not water proof - BUT WHO WANTS TO FIND OUT HOW FAR YOU CAN GO?

My wife absolutely loves this Apple watch. She went by Best Buy and had the Geek Squad set up the watch initially. She is health and fitness conscious and uses the watch to track her fitness daily, as well as phone cals and text messages. Although she is not a "high tech" person, she is very comfortable with this device. I purchased the 42 mm sport edition and for once, I gave a gift that was appreciated!!

I've been using my Apple Watch for about a month now. I love the way you can respond to text messages and make/receive calls. It's also great for seeing your notifications without having to pull your phone out. Where I find it lacks is in customization of the watch face. You can't have a background picture and have the modular design with all of the info on it. It also lags when updating the info on some apps like weather underground. I also wish it was thinner and the screen was a tad bigger. Overall I love it and I am looking forward to the updates that will come.

I got this for myself and one for the wife after Apple recent price drop and BB sale, which took off a substantial amount of the cost. I had originally avoided the AW at it's release pricing since it can't operate independent of the iPhone. But I bit once I saw the price reduction as it will allow me to see if this is right for me. I have to admit that I love it. I use it as an extension of my iPhone 6S+ and love the fact I can get my calls, iMessage, and various updates without taking out my phone. The AW is a little slow and can use a faster processor but that's being picky. It's not meant to be very immersive or entertaining as that's what my iPhone is for. The OLED display on the Sport model is amazing and better than the one on the Watch Edition as the Sapphire Crystal reflects more light and lowers contrast. The battery life seem right on at about 18 hours which is OK only. I'd wish for 2 days instead as I can do stuff like sleep tracking, which is not possible as you have to charge it each night. Great purchase overall at sales pricing, which Apple has allowed due to slow adoption of the AW.

I work in a fairly fast paced environment and absolutely love the utility this watch provides. Getting notifications sent right to your wrist is such a time saver. My company uses digital tools for communication and planning, so I can get real time updates without having to slog through apps on my phone. I can simply glance at a push notification and immediately decide my next move. Wonderful product!

I bought this watch for only one purpose. Now I find I use it routinely for seven things: 1) reading text messages; 2) amazing Maps functionality (the watch vibrates when it's time to turn); 3) quasi-Fitbit functionality; 4) better vibration alerts than my iPhone in quiet mode when calls come in; 5) instant weather; 6) basic timekeeping and stopwatch functions; and 7) the biggie, the ability to read data from my Dexcom continuous blood glucose monitor. It was for this last purpose I bought the watch, and the functionality is life-changing. Embedding a device in my stomach the size of a flash drive (no, it doesn't hurt), I get a blood sugar reading every five minutes. Through a sharing app that plays on my watch, to get a current blood sugar reading, all I have to do is swipe down on the watch face, and have the Dexcom share application enabled as my last-used "Glance." In other words: one watch swipe, no fingerstick or blood drops, and instant blood sugar reading. I'm watching my sugar level control improve by the day. For the first time in years, I'm actually looking forward to my next A1C test. Could not recommend this setup more highly, for it alone is worth the cost of the watch. All of the rest of it's gravy, and tasty gravy it is. And I expect the watch to grow increasingly clever as the software iterations keep coming.

A gadget of convenience versus necessity.

I need to preface my review by stating that I'm an early adopter of most new gadgets and I have a bias towards Apple products. I own an iPhone, iPad Air, iPad mini, Apple TV, Mac mini, Macbook Pro and now the Watch. With that all out of the way, this definitely feels like a first generation Apple product. What I mean by that statement is that Apple held back a lot of functionality that could have been incorporated but will add them in their annual releases. It lacks a camera, GPS, and the ability to function completely without an iPhone. The battery life will get you through a full day, but it will require nightly charging. Another complaint is the material of the Sport band. The Apple bands have caused me to get a rash after working out. The combination of sweat and the rubber used in the band has caused irritation. The Watch Sport uses a softer screen (Ion-X Glass). The first day of usage, I had a long sleeve shirt on and it caused fine scratches on the watch face. Those are my chief complaints. The good, the build of the watch itself is of good quality except for the watch face. The calendar integration is the most compelling reason I wear it daily. It's nice to most of the notifications on your wrist, whether that's text messages, e-mails, phone calls, other apps. The heart rate monitor is as accurate as the chest strap I have. The built in health functions are nice and the third party integration in Watch OS2.0 is a welcome addition. Apple Pay with the watch is easier to activate than on the iPhone. All that said, these are all conveniences versus necessity. It's a nice product, it's probably only for the Apple loving gadget fans. Others will want more and Apple will probably provide more next year and the following year and so on...

Easy to set up, simple to operate and does what it's supposed to, the Apple way. What I don't like: the screens are soft. Within a day or two I had scratches all over the side of the screen. Now think, iPhone attached to your wrist, yep it's going to get bumped and beat up. A case for it is a necessity, I chose a speigen case. We got these for fitness purposes and they work great. It's nice to be reminded to get out of your chair at work and move once an hour, track fitness goals, etc. Also fun to send other watch users drawings and animated smileys.

if you text(a lot) this will save your life. No longer having to pull my phone out all the time is extremely useful. No more texting while driving or pulling my phone out in college classes. I can see texts while mowing the lawn. I am a cook and now I can keep track of who's texting me while at work without pulling my phone out at all at work which is a huge bonus. There are many many many other features this watch has but I don't use any of them I bought this for the soul purpose of texting on the go because of how much I text( about 4-5k sent texts a month). When people say this is expensive and not worth it do not listen, 400$ for a watch that can do what this can is a steal, before this I almost bought a mavado for 1000 that only tells the time.

Wow! I just switched to my first ever Appel phone the 6+ And was liking it so I thought why not just try the watch now I am loving it. The watch is very handy for quick access like texting, gps navigation, notifications, extra. I am really enjoying my Apple stuff way more than I thought. Why was I so anti Apple? Hope to see some updates for the watch or the next gen that improve some the thing I don't like about it. Overall a grate watch.

I bought my first Apple watch back in April thinking this was just a gadget I wanted and not something I needed. 8 months later I had to get one for my husband for Christmas. Being able to see messages with a quick glance has made this watch a part of both of our daily wear. I also recently started to train for a 10k and for a beginner runner the Apple watch does everything I need.
