Bought this to keep an eye on our back yard and it works great. I love that the notifications can differentiate between a person or animal caught on camera.

We bought this for our adult children after they were broken into. It gives them a piece of mind that they are safe now.

Great product durable. Only complaint is the cats that roam around and night and set off camera ughh drains battery

Camera works well and love not having wires. The battery life is nowhere near what is advertised. I'm lucky to get a month and then need to recharge.

Purchased to go along with two other Arlo cameras. Not very clear that a subscription is required to view recordings. Camera works for a live view but if triggered by movement the recording can only be recovered by a separate purchase of a hard drive. It must be ejected then viewed on a separate computer

The Arlo Essential XL spotlight camera is far superior to any security camera I’ve tested in the past. The video and sound are very clear. I have an iphone 6 and mediocre wi-fi and it still performed very well. It can easily distinguish random motion from a person – even when it’s just a person’s hand waving in front of it. It has a spotlight that can be configured to come on at night when motion is detected. The light is very bright when on full strength. It is completely wireless and the camera can function 1 year on a full charge. It is weatherproof and can operate in a temperature range of minus 4 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes it an ideal outside security camera. When charging is needed, the camera can be removed from the mount, attached to the charger and then re-placed. It came partially charged with a recommendation to charge it before use. There is no charging-in-progress or full charge indicator on the camera itself. The battery charge level can only be viewed in the Arlo app. I would like to see better instructions included with the camera. I had to go 4 places to eventually get all the information I needed. The small brochure in the package just says to download the app and charge the camera. I eventually found the charging instructions by following a link in the welcome email. The USB plug is hidden under a rubber flap and I never would’ve found it otherwise. At minimum the brochure should describe how to charge the camera. The one odd thing about this camera is that it can’t detect motion through a window. I wanted to use it to monitor anyone coming up the driveway or walkway but there isn’t a good place to mount it by the front door. I thought I could put it the front window, but no matter how many times I walked past it and waved at it, it never "saw" me. But it works perfectly on either side of the window. I do question the usefulness of the video without the optional service plan (for a fee) with cloud storage. The video records faithfully and clearly every time someone comes into range, but the image is too small to identify the person. If someone were to break into the home/vehicle I would have proof someone did it, but not who did it. It is likely that with the service plan an image downloaded from the “cloud” could be enlarged and enhanced.

Works great, great battery life, easy set up and great video quality. Love the spotlight and the clear night videos. Downfalls are you have to have monthly subscription for the camera to work properly but you do get 30 days free. Also, if you have it in stand by mode or at home mode it doesn’t record so be sure to keep it on away from home so it always records.

Nice to have a light on this camera. The other cameras I had been using did not include the light feature.

This is a Great Security Camera. The detections are updated and strong. The Battery should fix for slow charging.

Good, and easy to set up , but when you have to switch your wifi it gets complicated.
