A: At this time, Arlo's optional Continuous Video Recording (CVR) plan is only available to Arlo Ultra, Pro 2, Q, Q Plus, and Baby cameras. ^RM
Q: Does this work both with a 2.4 and 5 GH modem/router?
A: The Arlo Essential XL Essential Spotlight camera can connect directly to your 2.4GHz network but not to the 5GHz band. ^RM
Q: How long before I have to charge my Arlo?
A: 6 months off a battery charge. I can verify that from experience.
Q: Does the solar panel for essential also work for the XL? Is a hub required?
A: Yes the solar panel works. No a hub is not required it can use Wi-Fi as well as the hub.
A: As long as you have wireless access to the area in your attic it should work fine. The camera can be set up to turn on the spot light when it detects motion so it helps with the image quality in low light conditions.
A: Yes, you can set different recording times in the parameters. I have Arlo camera's that begin recording when a different camera begins recording and they are set to record for different durations of time.
A: Definitely depends on your anchor. This is a pretty hefty camera. If you’re not drilling deep or trying to surface mount I would go with one that’s not ultra or XL
