Greatly disappointed in this product. It didn’t work after trying multiple times. It would go on but not stay on. It was not the internet connection as we have over 5 and the box was close to it. Battery was charged. Nothing wirked

This Arlo is nice but the spotlight stays on and the battery dopant stay charged long. Otherwise good product.

If you are looking for a way to monitor the perimeter of your home/property, and do so without having to worry about getting up in the attic with spools of wiring (or hiring someone to do it), the Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera is a good way to go. The “Good” — Totally wireless operation. If you’ve got a decent wifi router mesh, you’re set. The Arlo app is fairly intuitive. It’s really a matter of anchoring the camera with 3 screws, aiming it where you want, and naming each specific camera (assuming you got more than one). The picture/video quality is pretty darn good. Also a big plus is that under normal use, the battery will last about a year before needing a recharge. You are able to monitor the battery level using the app. When it does come time to recharge, up on a ladder you go, loosen the main adjusting wing nut, and take the camera indoors to plug it in to USB for a few hours. Once a year — not too bad. The “Eh” — I think Arlo could have devoted a few more minutes to the creation of a more detailed quick-start guide, but that may be just me. As for that sometimes awkward pause that can happen between the live video and when it actually comes across your phone/computer, I’ve experienced a lag time of 2 seconds. Not terrible. It also would be nice if Arlo were to give more of a discount for purchasing multiple cameras. Just sayin’. Maybe Cyber Monday…? This seems to be a well built camera that should last for years. We shall see. You do have the opportunity to subscribe to Arlo’s cloud system for extended backup of video. Not a bad idea when it comes to security and nabbing those dastardly crooks!

Unable to connect to our WiFi even following instructions. By the way, this camera does not work with 5Ghz WiFi, it has not be 2.6Ghz. Even using the 2.6 GHz, camera could not connect. After charging, the camera synced once to the WiFi and the app on my phone and then disconnected itself. When I tried to connect it again, it did not sync, app couldn’t detect the camera. The led light never turned back on. The camera, even after being charged, just doesn’t seem to work. Defective straight out or the box. Save yourself the trouble. Buy something else.

So this works like it is supposed to work but time will surely tell.

Regret buying it, sends alerts but doesn't record any clips!

This is my second product from Arlo - I have the essential camera (smaller one) that I’ve been using for the last month. And after using Arlo essential XL camera for about more than a week, I would certainly say that this camera is the best wireless security camera in the market. The thing that impressed me a lot was the battery life. As mentioned earlier, I have been using this for more than a week and the battery has drained only 1%. On the other hand, Arlo essential (smaller model) had drained almost 25% in a week. I would certainly spend an extra $20 to go for the XL model rather than the smaller model. I am using the settings that is best for the battery life and I am very satisfied with the performance. All other features of the XL model are similar to the smaller model. Camera quality is great, motion detection is really good the camera comes with 3 months trial subscription service, which according to me is awesome as compared to other cameras in the market offering only one month of trial membership. It is very easy to manage both cameras in the ARLO app, both cameras can be viewed live in the app at the same time, however in the minimized form, not full screen. App is very easy to use and settings are pretty straightforward. Great job Arlo for giving us this product at a nominal price point. I would recommend this camera to everyone.
